  1. Past hour
  2. Wasn't there last night but same for the match with the Lion's Tobi tailed off badly in the latter heats as he couldn't find anyway to pass people despite trying really hard to from what I could see! I do think moisture in the track is tough this year due to the really warm dry weather - when did Ipswich last have any meaningful rainfall?
  3. Good return back to racing for Kyle Howarth 10 points that would have been 12 if chain not snapped in ht14, hopefully remains fit for Leicester and Glasgow for rest of the season
  4. Poole didn't have anything to ride for last time they were already comfortably through in KOC. With Kennet at reserve and Cairns hitting form it will be a different story this time.
  5. Berwick vs Redcar Due to unforeseen circumstances, tomorrow night’s scheduled fixture against Redcar has been cancelled. A significant issue with parts of the electrical system means essential areas of the stadium’s power supply cannot currently be used. Our team has been working closely with the relevant parties since being notified late yesterday night, but unfortunately the issue cannot be resolved in time for tomorrow’s meeting. We fully appreciate how disappointing this is for supporters and riders, and we share that frustration. We thank everyone for their understanding during this unexpected situation. Further updates will be provided when we have confirmed information to share. E-tickets will be refunded and Golden Ticket winners will be rolled over to the next meeting
  6. maybe need to leave the inside a bit slicker and only put most of the dirt on from mid track
  7. Been tried before and how can it run when riders have have contracts to ride in multiple leagues? This is Speedway mate not Football
  8. Lukes only .3 off being Scunnys reserve yet hes at number 5 tonite
  9. No Conor Mountain as he is ill so r/r at 2 and Luke Harrison has a go at 5 and Tofty going to 4 I think all 6 Scorpions need to be on it tonight, we struggled a bit against Oxford and dropped a few points, Pickerings 2 retirements hopefully being a one(2) off.For me it depends on what Ingram and Gilkes perform. Weather wise it will be 10 degrees cooler so the track should be ok... 50 40 same as last time or a draw
  10. Good to read they doing something positive, I agree, it should make it a more exciting venue. I wish some other venues would do the same.
  11. Today
  12. I agree although it’s a bit strange as Bob Ellis is still there doing the track as he’s always done. Musielak was busting a gut going wide trying to catch inferior riders in front of him and was actually going backwards.
  13. I fully agree that British speedway should have an agenda but we will never control Poland, let’s wipe any ideas of that out. Thing I would focus on more are bringing on the young. If we produce our own, we won’t give a toss what is happening over there. The amount of kids going about on e-bikes/mini bikes etc is massive. Let these people know of an opportunity. Get the police to guide them like they done with Derek S My plan would include 1) all tracks to have 4 off 50cc, 125cc and 500cc bikes. Nothing special, just reliable bikes (possibly closed units)to give young people a chance. Parents can’t all afford to give their kids a bike/van etc etc. Possible joint cost between Club and governing body? Or the governing body fully funds a “ride and skid it” type model that travels round the tracks (one for Scotland and the north, one for midlands etc etc) 2) Run any junior/NDL meetings through the main race card. Let us see the future talent coming through. We have seen how keen the kids are to get out. People seeing 20+ races for their money is better than 15. I know the snobs don’t want to see “wobblers” but it will get them used to riding in front of fans. And let’s face it there is plenty of time during a meeting. 3) In conjunction with number one, run classes on the maintenance/upkeep of a speedway bike. Some kids may not make it as a rider but will still want to be involved. I watched our meeting at Scunthorpe and Bomber didn’t have a mechanic. Holy F, how can he not have a mechanic. 4) Include a second reserve race in the main card. 5) bring back the silver helmet (slightly tongue in cheek but it was a talking point if nothing else) 6) there needs to be more meetings. The small amount of meetings spread out so far is ridiculous. No consistency. Failing that, compile the fixtures so your team is home then away, then the team is at least riding together each week. 7) if the above isn’t possible. Arrange away trips that fans can go and enjoy. A Poole/Oxford double header would be a great for Glasgow fans. Southern teams seem to get northern tours. What promotion would like a coach rather than 5-10 fans? 8 ) The dinosaurs that run certain tracks need to get their fingers out and realise it isn’t the 60/70s any more. 9) Stop track preparation to give home track advantage. Let’s entertain the public. 10) In conjunction with the above give every rider 2 laps of the track before the meeting begins. It will iron out any track issues and hopefully make for a better meeting. Time them, give an award for the fastest lap, something to generate an interest.
  14. the track has got a lot worse this year and last night's meeting was a good example. heat leaders not being able to pass reserves even with a few laps to line them up. mayfield need to get Wroclaws input asap. the weather this year is perhaps a mitigating factor but the racing has been dire on the whole
  15. Surprised that no one has started a thread for this meeting yet. This will be a tough test for the Pirates as the Scorpions are on form and also are formidable at home this season. Thoughts?
  16. Thank goodness for the voice of reason which, as opposed to those of the contributors above, who clearly don't realize the seriousness of the situation and prefer to make "clever" (idiotic) remarks.
  17. If that’s the future you want for British speedway, the first step is to create an effective pathway to develop and give regular opportunities to the numbers of young riders you need coming through the ranks to support that structure. That would make a lot more of a difference than some European cup of speedway, which won’t work at all given there’s no way the other countries are going to have riders exclusively contracted. No one is signing up to a Danish team on an exclusive contract when it’s a squad system and they don’t even know if they’ll be in the team! We don’t develop enough riders, the ones we do are often not good enough, and part of it is they don’t have enough opportunities to race and become good enough. You can’t fix the top when the base is so weak.
  18. Averages dont tell the whole story though. A rider can sudenly hit top form hitting double figures and guest for a struggling rider eg Jordan Jenkins struggling at Redcar to flying at Berwick.
  19. Okay, thanks Steve. He has had a bad run commencing in the Aussie season.
  20. I get that but its as daft as a brush isn't it? Luke Harrsion is a considerably better rider than Fraser Bowes. It's essentially a statistical anomaly. The guest system shouldn't be about employing ringers for one night only.
  21. Good luck in tying down the better riders to being contracted and committed exclusively to British racing.
  22. Any attempt at some sort of European league with each country's champions hosting a round (Its been tried before) would mean all riders insisting on their Polish pay rates! Unaffordable unless covered by a major sponsor/TV contract!
  23. Check out Fraser Bowes #51 on Facebook or the Pirates website. His initial injuries included a pierced lung, and damaged ribs plus extensive bruising etc. He had treatment and attempted a comeback but couldn.t turn the bike without backpain - crashed again! He went back to the medics, had more scans which revealed a previously undiagnosed central disc protrusion! Recovery time 3=6 months, so his season is over!
