  2. Taken from the Speedway Riders Index 1929-2022: George A. BARCLAY Born: 1 April 1935, Elephant & Castle, London, England. 3. Totally agree seems to be loyal and hang on to the old faithfuls
  4. Today
  5. What would Ablitts average be? If its his 2024 average - 2.5% it puts Scunthorpe over the limit.
  6. One must only assume that the riders named on here that are not “ fixed up “ have a secret verbal agreement in place with “Ed?” Pending formal approval of purchase of the tractor air fence and starting gate and some brooms .
  7. Should not be allowed Guests or R/R for riders missing due to other riding commitments for starters. That might changes Promoters mindset on who they sign.
  8. Some will find themselves in team slots sadly due to injuries. Deffo think Vuolas will be back!
  9. They are the kind of riders who should never have been allowed to sign based on other commitments.
  10. Sad news indeed...such a good servant to the sport. RIP
  11. Yesterday
  12. Could argue Gusts and Knudsen were on the sidelines last year as well the amount of meetings they missed
  13. Sad news. George Barclay has died at the age of 90. He began his speedway career quite late in life at the age of 31 in 1967, making his debut for my team, West Ham. I got to know him very well after he had retired when I worked with him in the early days of the Speedway Museum in Paradise Wildlife Park. He put a tremendous amount of work into it and it was due to him and his wife Linda, along with Pete Sampson, that it happened at all, going on to become the success it has undoubtedly become today. In addition, as his nickname said, he was a true gentleman. R.I.P. George and thank you.
  14. As far as I know, it came as a surprise to Kevin Boothby, as I don’t believe it was his decision, but the speculation around finances must be a worry that could affect the future of Oxford.
  15. Theres maybe half a dozen Scunny fans go to watch away and we have a bus company sponsoring us!!!!!
  16. Every time someone mentions 1 league you all go...not enough riders
  17. So what has happened for Kevin boothby to give up the lease at mildenhall ? Is it financial issue or is he just cutting back due to ill health ? and what’s happening at Oxford regarding the lease. The
  18. Yeah, more worrying for speedway is the fact that the lease was taken off Kevin Boothby the leaseholder at Oxford, and Arc taking it on it could happen at Oxford.
  19. They will find that Deane Wood, the owner of Spedeworth, does not take kindly to an organisation acting like a big bully. Since Deane owns the stadium his word is the one that matters.
  20. Bad news as far as my dealings with ARC. They will want to be the dominant sport and start demanding that the others do as they say and then claim you are breaching your contract, so do as your told or they will throw you out.
  21. Went to a restaurant once and saw "Oasis Soup" on the menu. Asked the waiter what it was. He said "you get a roll with it" 🤭
  22. More like Poole will pay what he wants if needed and yes on time.
  23. They need to take a leaf out of Rich Lawson's book when it comes to managing your average.
  24. I sometimes rate teams as to whether I would go to watch them away from home. This Scunthorpe side is one I would definitely not turn out for. Apart from Pickering it's very much same old same old and they will definitely end up at the bottom of the league if changes are not made. Apart from Picko and to a lesser degree Harrison, there is not one glint of excitement in the side.
  25. Maybe with MF back at the helm,Beau Bailey may have a rethink?!😝
