"I am very unhappy today with the fella who is doing my double glazing installion. I asked him a few weeks ago if he could book today in his diary, but, instead, he told me that he had another job already booked elsewhere, and it was a bigger job, thus will earn him several times more than mine will"... "That job will last six months so he basically has told me what dates he can do if I want to use his services during that timeline"..... "I an very disappointed with his attitude"....

Granted it has only been two meetings but Kyle looks to be settling in nicely. He certainly appears to be well motivated and committed, even though he's only signed for 28 days. I'm begining to think he might prove to be a better option to Gilkes. Anyone know if that's a possibility, re the contract situation with Dan etc?

Hopefully we get some better weather this week and we can get Press and Practice in. Personally i'm itching to see our 7 out on track in the new club kevlars which I have heard good things about. Should be some really competetive meetings this season. UTC đ¤

Spot on. I left Twitter X more than a year ago for that reason. When Twitter began there was a really nice group of speedway fans who interacted. Long gone.

We all know exactly who that is đ Hint: The same promotion who couldnât even be @rsed to have a press and practice session this year, instead will do the âteam photoâ at the first meeting. Unfortunately some promotions are a cancer to the sport in this country. Theyâre old, stuck in their ways, have no fresh ideas, and want to just get by every year by doing the absolute bare minimum. Until theyâve all retired or buggered off, nothing will change and neither will they let it. The ideas youâve suggested Phil wanted to implement sound exactly like the ideas Mayfield have for the sport not just at Ipswich, but for British Speedway in general. But theyâll also find out soon enough that any ideas they have will fall on deaf ears and theyâll get absolutely nowhere with them. Would anyone be at all surprised if Mayfield went exactly the same way as Chris Louis in 12 months time? I wouldnât.

SGP coverage in UK for 2026

I can see under the Speedway section on the HBO Max app that the first GP (2nd May) is on the HBO Max app for TNT Sport subscribers. I would assume one of the main linear TNT Sports channels will also carry it. -
Because never once have I been to Owlerton and the away team have won the toss!

Imagine taking a newcomer to the meeting today . "Wheres that Aussie bloke that nearly won the World Championship last year?" "Oh, Brady Kurtz, naah he's not riding today, he's banned" "Thats a shame, was looking forward to seeing him! Why's he banned, what did he do?" "Errrr... he was ill last week" -
Terrible timing and it looks like we may loose Oxford. such a shame as its a fantastic facility and 7 riders may loose their jobs. Nobody could have predicted this turn of events and I really hope its not as bleak as it looks..
-
The great irony here is timing. Had SIS have pulled out a month ago, the future of Oxford Speedway may have been far more assured for 2026. The BSPL and PL Promoters would have shelved the very costly Northampton project, that must be costing them more that ÂŁ100,000 and pumped ÂŁ20,000 a month rent in to Oxford and run an Oxford Team in the PL. To optimise income, they could still have run an Oxford Team in the CL. That would have given a further 12 months to properly market and develop Northampton, if it was still needed after a bigger reorganisationfor 2027. Timing!

Let's hope these are just silly roumers & it doesn't go like my team Newcastle did & closed down for various ( the dogs pulling the plug on the speedway & making it very hard for our former owner Rob grant to carry on with the club due to reasons beyond his control & I know some Newcastle fans are still bitter at the way he closed it down but he couldn't go on losing money like he was )for 1 reason or another

I was lead to belive it was the speedway one that had disappeared

You have made a good point. i think he will.

Even for 2026, Phil has been a great advocate for British Speedway Premiership and has done lots of work behind the scenes which most people simply do not see. Always knowing that his role of Chief executive wasnât to continue this year due to lack of money He was instrumental in keeping Ipswich going including being part of a consortium that made an offer to keep it going if Mayfield deal had fallen through. Has also had a a lot to do with the opening of Northampton giving guidance of what was required to get Speedway running along with being involved in the negotiations with stadium owners and management . There has been some failures previously maybe the loss of TV deal being the greatest but he did explore various options but none could be got over the line for various reasons. It has not been helped by some promotions not backing him fully. He wanted to modernise the product to try to get in new fans and sponsors some of which cost money like for tv meetings having a set presentation team and DJ, Lights and fire cannons on centre field but certain promotions wouldnât back this and could even be objective like refusing to move advertising A boards for tv meetings and not even keeping the league sponsorship ones clean. Phil was also key to a number of top names returning to the UK like Woofy , Janowski and Lindgren along with brokering deals for Lambert and Dudek to ride for clubs to then back down on the deals

The tractor removed was for the dogs, which is half the size and not the speedway tractor. That remains on site, as Iâve been led to believe.
