Why 3pm?

I don't necessarily think its crazy to bring him in, Jacob is a promising rider and a nice lad to boot, but why not earlier in the season if they have been talking to him "since April"? And I think its crazier still that they didn't bring in Vuolas if they're clearly willing to bring in riders from further afield.

Yes racing improved later on with Cook going wide to get past Jenkins and some good battles, Masters was a decent guest which helped and Kennett was also a good guest. Shame we didn't get Kennett to replace Bowes before Oxford got him.

Even watching on catch up I was close to giving up after the first lot of races, but I forwarded a few heats and the racing got better at times, but like most tracks, dry and dusty, very little extra grip if you went out to the fence. Not expecting any different from tonight's BSN offering at Leicester, its all too predictable.

010.5 FACILITIES K) retiring during the current season a facility will be granted for a period of 28 days. After which the team must re-apply for a further facility to the SCB Co-Ordinator outlining the steps they have taken to find a replacement. An extension may be granted In these circumstances a rider cannot return to ride for any club within 28 days, effective from the date of notification to the SCB.

As we are getting to the business end of the season with a catch up match and then 2 rounds to go, the top 6 make the play-offs and all are included in the QF’s. 1st place at the end of the regular season can choose their opponents from 4th, 5th or 6th. 2nd next choice and 3rd the team left. The winners and losers of those matches are put in a mini league table and the top 3 and the best of the rest contest the SF’s.

Wherever you’re getting that info from is way wide of the mark. Nothing to do with anything on Jacob’s side of things.

Turkey's don't vote for Christmas!!! The BIG difference now though, is that rather than one league always having significantly higher numbers, like over the last couple of decades, (ie tier two), if just two teams "move up" then tier one will have the majority of tracks... The tail no longer will be able to wag the dog... It hasn't been by chance I would think that most BSP Chairmen have been tier two promoters over the recent past... Poland's "one other league" (not one country and two leagues), if they get their way, will be a game changer for UK Speedway... DU riders, who choose the UK, will have a clear decision to make... And, tier two in particular, will be a very different landscape than what we, and they, have been accustomed to for (probably), far too long, particularly as so much DUing has hugely contributed to the current paucity of riders.. Colemans vision of greater demarcation between the leagues over here will organically happen if Poland get their way... And, personally, if I was him, and I had his wider influence, I would definitely be encouraging it to happen. As that would mean the much needed radical change of direction for UK Speedway, would inevitably have to happen, (and I would be able to blame someone else for it!!!)..

Doesn't the lad want relatively big bags now for racing though, have a feeling that was part of the issue with Worky he had a season of improvement but then wanted pretty big money for 2026.

These events were almost a fortnight apart. He pulled out of his Danish fixture on 24th June due to injury (although I don't know when this occurred). The meeting he missed for Ipswich wasn't until 6th July when he became unwell on his way to Leicester.

I don't think Poole was regarded as the best track back then, there were other great tracks like Kings Lynn, Peterborough, Swindon, Coventry etc that produced great racing. You can't compare with todays tracks. Kings Lynn for example does not produce the same excitement or amount of passing it used to. The meeting you continually refer to was fantastic largely because of the riders involved and to see riders like Havvy in the twilight of his career on the ragged edge was amazing. Unfortunately those days are gone, the track certainly deteriorated to the point where the gp challenge in 2013 when the track was very bumpy and dangerous. The track is safer and much better now, I understand you find it boring because your own track produces such great racing but last night produced passing and close racing which was entertaining in my view.

This weekend (Sunday) sees the Comets up against the old enemy The Berwick Bandits in this League encounter with the Comets eager for points after last weeks draw against Edinburgh. The weather forecast at this early stage looks good so hopefully we will see plenty of Bandits fans make the trip over from the North East. Don't forget 3pm on Sunday this weekend.

Has Jacob Hook definitely signed for Scunthorpe? Can't find anything on Scunthorpe website, Facebook, or BSPL to confirm this.

Same as John Berry mid 80's Mike was probably the most successful promoter in the UK as the time sold Ipswich and moved into big chief role with lots of ideas and was gone within a month.
