Reading "Simmo's" book and there's a chapter on where he deliberatly scored zero so he could get his average down to move to Hackney lower league the following season.

2027 - 8 Team Premiership
YeOldPitGate replied to CTRSports's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I still also think if 8 teams once home and away fortnightly is the way to go Phil and the bottom four riders could double up in the second division also to boost earnings with the top three flying in and out as needed. The two big problems (as ever) personally think Monday is the worst night to try and run a spectator sport and as others have mentioned when I floated this idea previously will stadium owners be interested in just renting out for seven nights a season assuming a team doesn't make the play off's. The other interesting point as someone mentioned is the play off's attracted great crowds with only three world class riders present I think the other option is top league of a standard Poole pirates currently are, again once home and away but run on preferred club night 8 team league and again bottom 4-5 could double up also in second division. Its not my dollar at stake but if I had the money and was a promoter I would favour the Poole team strength second option so long as the riders were all UK based and baring injuries/internationals were here for 90% of home meetings. -
The two U21 positions they must now have would have influenced that decision I would think..

The barrier to this would be the top tier paying riders enough to be exclusive.. Currently they and the 2nd tier help out each other by riders Doubling Down.. If they had to pay reserves, second strings and third heat leaders on their own what these riders wanted, could top tier teams afford the GP/Polish top tier level riders to go with them too?..

For a lot of tracks. Might be hired on elsewhere.

Brennan's GSA would be above 8.00 so I don't think he's at Oxford unless the rules have changed. 5.91 x 1.4 = 8.27 (8.07 after 2.5% British Reduction) or 5.91 x 1.5 = 8.86 (8.64 after 2.5% British Reduction) Didn't last winter confirm that the CHAMP rules were set for 3 Years?

Hope you guys get a full season out of cookie

If there ever was to be two leagues, then there would need to be clear demarcation. One to run the top tier and one to run a lower semi pro comp. when riders sign for the top tier they know that they cannot sign for the a team in the lower tier. There would be no restraint of trade involved.

What was the reason for the late start time (7:30) , with around 20 hts to race plus the support meeting too it seems crazy on a cold October night to start at this time . I could understand if it was a midweek meeting and people were working but this was a Saturday event . This does not encourage newer fans never mind fans that already attend on a regular basis . -
1. K. Thomson 8.23 2. J. Grahn 5.63 3. P. Castagna 5.88 4. V. Palovaara 5.64 5. J. Sedgmen 6.84 6. M. Cluff 3.64 7. J. Loftus 3.60 = 39.46

When reading through some of the comments on the Premiership play-off final I noticed a number of fans' only meeting of the year (or one of very few) was the final. You could see by the crowd number at both meetings it was true. The draw to that meeting though is not the caliber of rider it is the fact that it matters. The teams were actually weaker than the start of the season, no Dan Bewley or Jack Holder. I am not sure if the draw of a top rider name is strong enough anymore. I think fans would rather see their team do well or watch competitive, close exciting racing. Also, the vast majority of the public have no idea who Robert Lambert is. I genuinely think moving to racing on any day of the week and losing those top riders to the Ekstraliga could work. It would cut rider fees costs and allow racing on Friday or Saturday (or Wednesday if you're Poole). I think racing and the overall league would be much more competitive if all teams can truly afford to run, therefore making each meeting matter more. If the only teams that can make profits are high championship ones why don't we make that the level of the premiership? The new championship would be a combination of lower championship riders and national league riders. Nearly all teams could afford and would want to be in the premiership then so we could bring back relegation/promotion.

Changes to 6 man teams from next year.

The White Knight started following Redcar Bears 2027
-
I would say that Scott is a must.
-
Denmark is 5 man teams over 14 heats if I remember rightly.

Bit weak in ht13&15 but I feel that would be good enough to get into the play offs

Maybe, but many of the riders that the UK need to attract over here see Thursday as being too close to the weekend, where they earn their major money and expectations of them are at their most pressured.. And don't want to be in an out of the UK twice a week some weeks as can happen... Plus Poland use Thursday now for rearranged meetings which, as we know, negatively impacts UK Speedway.. If the UK can improve the product then maybe Mondays only would work? As we see with the play offs, all teams have possibly even as much as double the followers that attend regularly through the season, therefore maybe if the product, and its credibility improves, so would the crowd levels??

Would happily take Zach at Lynn if he was solely coming in to be 3rd heat leader, in a 1-7 similar to below: 1. Max Fricke - 8.27 2. Tom Brennan - 5.76 3. Zach Cook - 7.35 4. Luke Becker - 6.88 5. Robert Lambert - 7.80 6. Cooper Rushen - any U21 7. Jody Scott - UK U21 Total - 36.06
-
Fits after British Reductions. 1. R. Lawson 8.15 2. K. Newman 4.92 3. L. Harrison 5.70 4. C. Rushen 5.01 5. W. Cairns 6.44 6. S. Lightcap 4.83 7. E. Kennett 4.62 39.67

6 riders in that team potentially will be missing over several weekends for official FIM U19 U21 and U24 events plus GP2 qualifying and main events, then various European championships, at times these young riders will be required more for these events and missing Poole and any other team that they may have signed for. Could be a reason not to sign a young team with potential
-
I agree but I also think Zach is in the same boat as Musielak now where he's maxed out his GSA tbh (7.35) I can see Zach spending a year at King's Lynn or Northampton if the points limit isn't 40.00 as I don't see how the Aces can fit both Cook's as well as Kurtz/Bewley in a 38 limit for example. After Bewley's reduction the 4 riders come to 31.75.

I like that - questions over Tate in heats 13 and 15 and a very young side but should do well again
