The meeting wasn't rerun. 12th April 1985 National League fixture, Joe Owen and Dave Morton were found to have used illegal tyres. Berwick's protest was upheld, both riders had their points deducted and the final score was amended from 50-28 to 34-41. Edited to add the appeal wasn't sorted out until mid-October!

Seems positive re Rob and Dan for the UK but if Eastie as back presumably its Mon or Thurs for them to run on. -
It’s all well and good saying have a 7 man premiership but where are the good enough riders going to come from to potentially make Eastbourne competitive? Northampton didn't have a number 1 this year, Holder got injured and they couldn’t adequately replace him. Birmingham had a rubbish team and Northampton wasn’t much better this time around and yet we want more teams in the league? Seems crazy to me just to make the numbers bigger.

He was at Vojens the other week I had a quick chat with him at Stansted

I think the forthcoming promoters' meetings should address why all tracks haven't got radio communication between the ref's box and the start marshalls (unless thats already a rule), That could/should deal with all starting issues on the spot! Or is it because that isn't in place at the BSPL Chairman's track?

The Ekstraliga have announced details of a 3 year agreement between Poland, Sweden, Denmark and Great Britain. Highlights are: A rider with a contract in Poland will be able to participate simultaneously in a maximum of two of the other three national leagues covered by the agreement. Great Britain – league matches are scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays, Sweden – on Tuesdays, Denmark – on Wednesdays, and Poland (PGEE / M2E) – on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The rules regarding youth riders will also change in the top leagues in Sweden, Denmark, and Great Britain. The team must include at least one domestic U21 rider, and the second can be a domestic or foreign rider. Additionally, the British federation ACU will give its riders permission to compete abroad only if they are also competing in the British league. This means that, e.g., Robert Lambert or Daniel Bewley, competing under a British license, will need to have a contract in Great Britain to compete in Poland and other foreign leagues.

Good to hear M.M I wish them all the best in their efforts would be great if long term we can get a strong competitive eight team top league, rumors that the BSPL might chip in a bit to fund the cost of getting Lambert back over also strike me as positive. -

IF they are successful with this then it’s not a shoestring budget and cheap team, plan is to be there for the long term -
IF there was ever a way back for him into professional speedway I'd have thought it'd have required some serious contrition followed by a sustained period of impeccable behaviour. Which of course hasn't happened. So I suspect that's that.

While I am not suggesting it should, or would, be re-run....... At some point in the '80s there was a match at Ellesmere Port when Berwick were visiting, which was declared null and void after the event (something to do with tyres, ironically) and had to be re-run late in the season. I can't be bothered looking up chapter and verse, but the precedent is there.......

Wont be Lawson to Redcar if the 8 Point rule still applies , that will be Charles Wright unless he focus on Poland and PL.

Such a shame how things turned out, jason was adored by all coventry fans when he rode for them. When I visited as an away fan you could see he put winning as his priority.

No idea, even if if was for dropping a fag end on the floor he was under rules and broke them three times to get recalled. Thats the behaviour of a lowlife. Surely, if you regret your actions and want to change your ways you stick to every rule they give you on license not break them ? He is a lost cause. Jails the best place for him.

Would agree but can’t see it happening. -
Hi mate, I have no idea who these guys are. In the last season of racing championship the gate was about 800 hitting 1000 a few times, so support is there
-
Manufacture, most of those fences are out of date, I think Lakeside's went to Iwade where of course it doesn't need to be tested as there are non league
-
Is the 7years/ 10 years from date of manufacture or years of use?
-
I agree, Belle Vue still favourites, Zach got 3 last time, would expect more this time but on the other hand Flint only got 1, would expect more this time. I think it should be an interesting close final and it could come down the last couple of races at Belle Vue which will just tip it in their favour.

The ref from the first leg who missed the tyre warming should be disciplined, the Poole leg is not so clear cut, riders leaving the track is normally black and white and is followed by an exclusion light, saw it happen all the time in the late 80s before Arena had a safety fence installed. Thing is if Cook had sat behind Pickering it still would have been a Poole win, its not like the pass enabled the win. I think its one of those things that a decision has to be made in real time and thus conclusive, once a heat is completed other than a tie for position on the line, the race should be called. Anything that comes to light afterwards should result in the ref being disciplined and banned for a period of time and certainly losing the right to ref any higher prestige meetings, they are paid to do the job, hit them in the pocket.

Hi M.D any idea if the prospective new promoters have the resources to be in this for the medium too long term given in recent years Eastie struggled to get four figure crowds ? I'm not saying it can't be done but get the feeling if the plan is going in on a shoestring budget and a cheap team that won't work in the long term here. Obviously I'm as keen as all of us for it to be sustainable with the long term plan to get back up to an eight team top league. -
If given the opportunity to get used to the track Harry Fletcher could do well. He wasn’t a million miles away when he was a guest for us. However Summers would be my preference is he fits.
