Perhaps there's something wrong with me but in my peak days of watching speedway - at Halifax in the late 60's and in the 70's - I attended religiously whether the team won or lost. It was entertainment, it was exciting and it was a way of life. Deciding not to attend because your team is losing is like stopping going to the cinema just because you happened to see three bad films on the trot.

there are two types of fan - speedway fans and fans of a particular team only. I don't get the second lot - when Middlesbrough closed I watched Newcastle. Didn't particularly support them but it was racing.

Harsh. Think you know what they’re trying to say. Of course everyone has been aware of the situation for some time, but it’s this time of year when March strikes that every fan gets the new Speedway season buzz where it’ll undoubtedly hit home even more for the fans of clubs that no longer have their side to watch. It was always going to get tougher the nearer to tapes up on a new season especially when clubs are uploading all their promotional stuff on social media for the new season.

Starting Bloody hell, been in a box for 6 months? There's a battle going on to ensure that that isn't a permanent situation. Focus on that rather than the direction Butterfield and Chapman tried to engineer!

Maybe she should have a 10 metre head start when riding for workington,?

The campaign group have used the term "coats for goalposts" in their vision for getting speedway back again . on a YouTube clip after the recent enquiry victory Jeff Davies stated that the back straight stand would be refurbished along the back straight terracing giving a 3,000 capacity. A structural survey would be undertaken on the main grandstand to ascertain what's to be done with that . Fingers crossed it happens yes I know for the doom and gloom merchants we don't own it they can land bank it etc Up the bees

Think the Ben Fund meeting would also be a good 'test the water meeting' for Celina Liebmann in addition the Peter Craven Memorial at Belle Vue. She will need to jump at in the deep end & race the top riders sooner or later but think a meeting of this kind, on her home track, would be a good, better ?, 'test the water' meeting for her. As with everyone, I'm looking forward to seeing her race, good luck to her hope she goes well....

Home win. Will be interesting to see how Bewley starts the season. He needs to do better here.

Have to agree even though they knew it was coming, it’s around now it’ll be hitting home hard. Feel for all the fans who have lost clubs over the years of course, but especially the Peterborough and Wolves fans as this will be their first season without it.

I'm sure the way the Bonaza works is that the riders volenteer their services for free or expenses only. The sole aim of the BEN fund is to support injured riders both short & long term however best they can. The main fund raiser is the now anual Bonaza. Good luck to the riders, Paul Ackroyd & his team for a successful 2024 event.

This nonsense again. There's not a single sport, team or individual, that has the 'outright best in the world' selected within their sports. Why is that? Simply, based on opinion. Every single sport is selected off of a human beings opinion. Not all F1 drivers are "the best in the world". Not all MotoGP riders are "the best in the world". Not all the players in the PDC Premier League are "the best in the world". It's purely a matter of opinion from the selectors & it's purely a matter of opinion from those opposing the selections. There are zero "facts" only stats as to who is or isn't best for the jobs. Shock, horror for many, stats ain't facts.

Bit of a gamble, agreed, but they are both capable of increasing their averages as well. Interesting team, to say the least.

Not true. Each club can set its own admission policy, some are one rider one mechanic, a lot are one rider one mechanic and one guest . Each club also has its own H&S officer and a Clerk of the Course who should sort any issues out as regards issues in the pits. How they cope at Sheffield always amazed me !

It is little wonder that speedway is in the state it is when so many just bang on about fractions of points. Averages are for team managers and promoters to worry about.

I think Plymouth are hopeful that Covatti will recover sufficiently to race at some point in the season, so expect a temporary (5.50/6.50?) signing for a month or so meaning Barker will start at 1.
