lucifer sam 3,953 Posted June 3, 2022 Just to confirm that Henry was a guest today, which is allowed since he is still part of Plymouth's 1-7.

Curious situation. Obviously Atkins' original ban for withholding his services is over, but by now accepting a guest booking as a member of the Plymouth 1--7, surely Atkins has acknowledged and accepted his place in the Plymouth 1-7. So having restarted riding, if he doesn't turn up for the next Plymouth match (having now acknowledged his place in their 1-7 and used it to take a guest booking) then he should get another ban for withholding his services again? 1

It's well documented and common knowledge that the issue for the Atkins family at Somerset and Plymouth was Garry May and his insistence of continually swapping reserves over. Some riders need a kick up the backside others need an encouraging arm and some support. Atkins is still an excellent talent and hopefully Jason Crump and Peter Shroek can harness and encourage it and get his career back on track. Technik 491 Posted June 4, 2022 Henry Atkins is & always has been a spoilt brat. He was mascot at Somerset for a few seasons & his Father would badger the Referee , Clarke of the Course & Pit Marshall before each meeting to get him on track as often as possible, before & after the parade, after Ht 14, Straight after Ht 15 & even control which riders should be allowed in second half events. anyone that might have a chance to be Our Henry would not be allowed to often. After an U21 qualifier that Young Henry was in at the OTA he was in the bar telling anyone that would listen that he should be racing in the top league & not wasting his time at this level. look where you are now Mr Atkins. 1

Have a hot line from team manager to Mike Atkins to get any tactical moves approved. 2. Make Mike Atkins team manager so the team manager can't do anything that "might" upset the blue eyed boy avoiding the need for option 1. 3. Keep Mike Atkins clear of any contact with the boy during the meeting & let Henry succeed or fail on his own merits. All a bit tongue n' check folks, but H & M Atkins have previously let both Somerset & Plymouth down. Mike Atkins is not a bad person - but he's both Henry's best & worst influence. Good luck to Henry on his "predicted" move to Oxford & show everyone what you are capable of. "If" Henry is transferred to Oxford will that then end Plymouth's option of a guest or R/R facility? If he has served his ban then surely its upto both the Club and the rider to sort the problem out and get him back riding for them again, or release him. They cannot be allowed to use guests or RR for him whilst he's riding as a guest for other clubs. But then this is Speedway, the sport with the most flexible rulebook in sport

They already aren’t allowed guests or R/R! Their facility has ran out and have to use unattached 3.00 men.

crescent girl 1,905 Posted June 10, 2022 Luke Killeen has got his UK passport (at last) and is making a Chargers' debut on Tuesday.
szkocjasid 3,028 Posted June 14, 2022 What I understand is, Atkins can't sign for Oxford till he's removed from the Plymouth 1-7. Plymouth can't remove him from their 1-7 till they sign a replacement. Plymouth can't find anyone willing to drive to Plymouth for Tuesday's. I guess this means Atkins may have to sit out the rest of the season? Tbh I don't feel for him, he's left Plymouth in the lurch & it certainly seems childish to leave a club because you disagreed with the team manager. From what I've read of his Dad causing issues, not sure why Oxford would want to sign "Team Atkins"?
