Workington 2024

Sundays are no good for Championship speedway. Most teams have one, two or three riders who are racing in Poland.

Not sure that'll be the case in 2024 with the rumoured points limit. There should be plenty of riders around and only a certain number of team/squad places available in Poland!

I thought Workington were Saturday afternoon for league matches ?

Is Friday night a protected CL night for Lincolnshire teams only?

No, Monarchs have seniority over everyone else for Friday nights, and to be correct its North Lincolnshire, with Lincolnshire being an entirely different county and Boston Barracudas long gone.

Are you hearing 36 or 38? Both will water-down Champ teams which I guess is overdue in order to stop them fielding so many Prem riders?

I've heard both. 36 for the 1-6 plus a 2 pointer(R/S) and/or 38.

So really it is 38 then, just whether it includes a 2 pointer or not. I am assuming there are 9 available?

Think part of the trouble within the NDL “ these kids didn’t come cheap” and a few of them had been “ round the block a few times”.Admission prices were far to high .IMO.I’m all for youth development but was that really what the NDL was all about.

Sunday afternoon 2pm ish might work well for Comets if Berwick and Plymouth are Saturday night Teams.

Possibly Kyle Howarth might prefer the trip to the North West more than the South West and be really suited by the wide open spaces?

If Lewis Kerr is surplus to requirements at Oxford another possible fit. Can't see him at Poole or Plymouth or Scunthorpe. Not sure if he burned his bridges at Redcar so Worky would be bext nearest?

How about James Wright if Brummies step up to PL.?

All three racers on what seems to be a proper race track.

I had mixed feelings when the move to the championship was announced yesterday , I have enjoyed this year with these young lads we have had in our team and think they may be lost to the sport If there is no Third League of some description.

i must admit I did not have any interest in the “ third division”  when Workington were in the championship back in 2018 but there seems to be a real camaraderie with the boys this season that does not always exist with some teams .

I hope many of this years team can be in next years line up , this would mean a weaker championship but maybe that is a good thing.

One thing I do know Is the  promotion at Northside have put a lot of work in to making this season a success , so well done to Andrew Bain , Steve Lawson and the many people behind the scenes who work tirelessly every week.

Maybe an idea if there is no national league, it might sound stupid, but for youngsters coming through I've always felt individual racing is better than team racing

Could they not organise a regionalised NDRC?   Say if they had 4 Northern/Scottish based riders they compete at events in Glasgow, Berwick, Edinburgh

4 riders competing from "up north" compete at Belle Vue, Workington and Sheffield

4 riders x 4 heats points count towards a regionalised championship then the top however many have a one off final at the end of the season?

If more than 4 riders from the same area they just organise it so they all do the same amount of meetings etc.

Could hold these races during the main event, before and/or afterwards

Sorry to run off topic

He's been named in the Teesside Silver Helmet line up, so can't have burned the bridges too far.
