  1. All this stuff is in the past, it's the future we should be worrying about.

  2. I would argue that Częstochowa have on paper a stronger team than leszno and both Częstochowa reserves are better than slauderbach, the problem is Częstochowa are badly under performing, who is the better rider Doyle or Lidsey ? You would have said Doyle at the start of season but lidsey has out performed Doyle, that’s not the league’s fault, infact lidsey who wasn’t even put in the team at the start of the year has out performed every Częstochowa rider apart from madsen

  3. I'm not Ford's biggest fan and certainly don't agree with some of the suspect antics he's carried out over the years, BUT he's now doing everything he can to save Poole Speedway. So no matter who you are or what you think give the guy some credit. Losing our beloved team would be a huge loss, not only to me personally but to UK speedway. We've lost enough teams in recent years for goodness sake!!

  5. It's the Speedway equivalent of Football's "I'd like to see him do that away at Stoke City on a cold Tuesday night in December"...

  6. That’s Shovler for you, unless he has ridden for Poole he is no good.

  7. The good thing is that Ford will work very hard to try and ensure the Pirates survive otherwise any hope that one day he can sell them (might be a long shot anyway these days) will be gone

  8. Do you really think he will even be riding round Monmore in a couple of seasons!!! Poland and world speedway is all about fast starting and fast bikes these days .IMO

  9. That’s cause they perform, they took a gamble with lidsey which paid off, kolodziej is past his best but still performs, slauderbach is not one of the top reserves, smektala could of struggled when he left the reserve berth, a lot of ifs there but they have all worked, Częstochowa have lindgren and Doyle who have both underperformed badly

  10. Unless it’s Poole,it’s always a dull meeting for Shovler.

  11. Knowing how this night has gone for Czestochowa. Leszno will probably get a 5-1 in the re-run

  12. No. Not saying that just saying you cannot discount him. Particularly when comparing him to Ivan you have to take into account that Ronnie had been a top world class rider for some 15-16 years before Ian won his first World Final. For me the best three ever riders have been Fundin, Mauger and Rickardsson. But Ronnie absolutely deserves his place among the legends.

  13. Absolutely no way could you discount Ronnie Moore. If anything he was the most consistent of the “big five” not just meeting to meeting but race to race. Also remember he started a bit before the others so might very well have had 2-3 titles before Fundin, Craven and Briggs really got started at top world level. And he didn’t have things easy before either with the likes of Jack Young around. These discussions are always so enjoyable.

  16. There have been pandemics before, and there has been planning for them - for many years in fact. But for some reason this time, governments are taking panicky knee-jerk reactions to every development, even though these are in many cases entirely predictable. And the UK government has been amongst the worst for its inconsistency.

  18. Was reading the excellent Hans Nielsen thread and how he would have done well in a GP world (which I would agree with). Then I got thinking about Ivan and how he would have done if the GP system had started , say , in 1968. I wonder if Ivan would have been World Champ in 68,69,70, 71 ,72 right thru till about 78. One exception, I seem to remember that Anders MIchanek in the year before he actually became Champ in 1974 was winning everything. So maybe Anders could have been a GP champ in 1973.. Not sure Ole could have ever won under a GP system-what say other forumlanders. Again to all- I really enjoy the threads that are posted here-brings back many memories.

  21. No. It has been a proper borefest from heat one. Not one race where I thought, that was good! Rubbish meeting.

  22. I made a call mid meeting when Doyle was riding like a wolly, to ensure my bet has come in tonight on Doyle vs Kolodziej handicap

  23. I attended all the World U21 last year & for me Lidsey & kubera the 2 most improved riders, & improving this year

  24. To be honest tonight has not been a great spectacle. The scoreline of 43-35 is totally down to Freddie Lindgren. He's got 1 which is unacceptable for a rider of his stature. If he had only another 4 the match is level. Trouble is Czestachowa have someone like him every week at the moment.

  25. Spot on.. A team that has three out of the top seven best riders in the world from last year shouldnt be getting smashed this way.. The system in Poland is fine.. Teams not performing some days is sport...

  33. All in hindsight now Steve but Hans against Erik now in combat would be awesome .Two great champions going against each other both at the peak of there powers but it was spoiled by Erik's dreadful injury both LEGEND riders. After a number of years got to realise just how good Nielsen was doubted it myself hold my hands up but his brilliance over a period persuaded me.

  34. As the Council leader said today in her weekly Q&A on facebook - Stadia UK still have a 'longish' lease on the stadium but if a developer were to come along with a properly funded scheme to develop the site, to include a new or revamped stadium, then the Council would consider it as part of the usual planning process. There is no scheme currently on the books and there is currently no intention to lose the stadium facility which belongs to the people of Poole!'

  36. It might be the ultimate fence sit, but beyond Muller and Szczakiel I can't see any one off World Champion who wouldn't have been capable of winning in a GP system (Havelock perhaps, but he was red hot in 92) and no GP World Champs that couldn't have taken a one off World Championship. The GP's certainly make sure the cream rises to the top, but the one-offs had a good record on that front too. The different systems require a different approach, so whereas a riders would build towards September to be at their mechanical, mental and physical peak, they have to be consistently on it right from the start now. To pick two examples, riders like Mike Lee and Erik Gundersen could be in (relatively) patchy form at the start of the year, but be absolutely on it by the business end of the season in the one-off era. I don't doubt that both would have been much more "dialled in" (to borrow a fashionable term) from the get go under a GP system.

  37. Probably true. However, if Mark Loram had won a one-off final I'm sure many people would have said that he wouldn't have won under the Grand Prix system.

  38. He is, as he is wrong and proven so without a single element of doubt. Or perhaps he knows more than the CDC (Centre for Disease Control and Prevention), ONS (Office of National Statistics), WHO (World Health Organsiation) and every single other medical organisation in the world who state they are transmitted in the same way.

  40. good to see speedway how it should be . in a field , grass banking and all the things you need for a good nights entertainment . all tracks should be like this . forget the NSS . its a concrete jungle . you dont need bling stadiums and all that other stuff . just good honest racing as this one was . i wish this track was closer , (200 miles closer at least ! ) AR looked class , as did all the cornets team on this vid . maybe have to become a southern softie ! missing our team and friends gained through the speedway connection . thanks for the vid and it was good to see a quite recent meeting instead of the usual vintage dross served up by some northern clubs . good quality picture and non of the betamax style coverage lol. . thanks .. J

  43. The email address to request any information regarding refunds on season tickets or any other information regarding tickets etc is Info@newcastle-speedway.co.uk This email address has been given out numerous times on press releases by the club and nobody should have any issues in contacting any of the promotion/management as we are all readily available to speak to. It would be appreciated if third parties would not try to relay false information or information that hasn't been confirmed officially by the club as this just causes unnecessary histeria and headaches that are not needed at this difficult time.
