  1. So Australia rode their 4 heats against the teams who finished in the top 4, Russia, Poland, Denmark and Sweden.. If they'd got to ride against GB and the Czechs they would of been making the top 3 easily, just shows how ridiculous calling a meeting part-way through is. Mark Lemon was quite right to be a bit pissed off!

  2. It's off to Torun.

  3. Hopefully, and with a better choice of when to run it we might well not get the complete farce tonight’s match was. That meeting was a dreadful advert for the sport and should never have started.

  4. You call it "cup"... and I call it CRAP. Bring back Daily Mirror Tournament of 1973...then we can talk about CUP...if not that then a minimum of 5 riders from each competing nation...and if not even that, ten four riders as we used to have few years back...two ridewrs don't make a team... its a pair and I don't have argument with this. So don't call "cup", don't call it SoN, byt call what it is..Pairs Championship

  5. Oh dear, what was that! Surely it should have been postponed until tomorrow morning. Speedway really does itself no favours at times.

  6. NO they couldn't ... riders would have to self-isolate if they came to GB

  7. I don’t know why nobody on this thread has suggested moving the event to Torun. The weather there is good all weekend apparently and it’s only a four hour drive away...

  8. To the riders I have the upper most respect and well done for riding but in the interest of the the sport the meeting should not have started it's made it look like a Micky mouse sport again

  15. I have to disagree Steve. Janowski and Pawlicki pulled sickies in order to miss a Polish international match. Zmarzlik is better than both Janowski and Pawlicki but he still shows up to every international match. Polish fans are very much behind Cieslak.

  16. He has been my favourite rider for the past seven years, but he can be frustratingly inconsistent. When on top form he is undoubtedly the most talented and exciting rider in the world.

  17. You mean by not choosing the riders that didnt want to ride for Poland earlier?

  23. Hopefully after heat 14 they will see sense and move the remaining heats to Torun

  24. Bewley is vastly overrated IMO.

  25. Nonsense, Emil has been the standout rider in this meeting. Zmarzlik doesn't team-ride.

  30. Sportowe Fakty are posting live updates from the track. If you have translating software installed this may be of help. https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/905234/zuzel-wielkie-odliczanie-do-jednodniowego-finalu-speedway-of-nations-na-zywo They report: 3.26 (UK) - rain stopped. 3.42 (UK) - Preparations underway 4.21 (UK) - Photo of wet track being worked on. Wet and even, not a ploughed field. ***UPDATE**** 4.31 Photos of track work. Dry straight + wet bend. 4.34 Not raining but high humidity could be problem. Looking optimistic.

  35. It can be wet or dry in July, August or October. There is no pattern to the UK weather, it is pot luck what we get. Maybe it's best later in our year to give the best chance of having crowds back

  36. Bruno, what's the difference between October in Manchester next year and October in Manchester this year? You did buy a ticket for this year's event. Fromafar: I seem to recall that the initial refund period does run till the end October. But there is to be another 30 day refund period once the rearranged date is announced.

  37. I wish I was not a speedway supporter sometimes. Tonight was one of those those times. Nothing about this weekend or the SON will ever redeem things.

  38. Ceislaks ego cost Poland. Thought he was bigger than what was right for his nation.

  39. That ride from Emil has just won Russia the world cup. He is the best rider in the world. He won Leszno the league title and he has just won Russia the world cup.

  40. Not only missing Woffinden’s points scoring but his experience in the pits. GB carrying a bigger entourage than riders. Lambert and Bewley will come again.

  41. What a prat Lambert is.

  45. So we will know about 6.05 pm Uk time then, when Phil Morris nnounces it? And yesterday he said if it is not on as a one day event on Saturday , it will not be held. Maybe Boris J. is heading the "What to do next FIM /BSI panel"?

  47. I remember he broke an ankle during his time at Newcastle prior to the British Final (?) one season. Seem to recall he broke both wrists after crashing during the 1972 World Pairs Final which didn't apparently hinder him too much. Other than that a pretty injury free career.

  48. Loved watching Pogo. I was only 10 when Rybnik turned up at Poole in 1965, three riders shone like a beacon. Woryna scored a paid max, behind Pogo, Wyglenda only lost his paid max because of a failing motor. Pogo was majestic scoring a full 12pt max in their 52-26 win over the Pirates. Followed them all for the rest of their careers. RIP Pogo.
