Whilst such nonsense exists, the sport can never move forward.. No matter what else they try and do to improve its following.. "Being taken seriously" and "Having credibility" are two simple and very, very, basic fundamentals if you want to attract investment or just basic custom...

Lynn riding without luck at the moment. Injuries galore. ☹️ Hope Rory isn’t seriously injured. Don’t think he would have given KL a home win, ( would have had 2 third places if he hadn’t fallen) but a closer defeat. Let’s face up to the facts and recognise that this Panthers team , cleverly built from a group of very experienced riders, are actually still pretty good, and showing up how poor most of the other Premiership teams are in 2021.

Feel sorry for Lynn tonight, decent guest in Schlein who comes off and only gets 1 point. OK, they were up against a buoyant Panthers but it could have been tighter.

Tonight's events see 2 great late passes by a Witches rider earn Sheffield 3 match points they otherwise would likely not have got and all but condemn our play off hopes Sheffield were vulnerable in 4th place and the only realistic position for us to catch I'm done with it and won't be attending next week. Why should I pay £19 for this shambles of a sport

Sad though it is for Paul Hurry - Steve is absolutely correct. Why on earth Len signed Paul straight into a CL berth - maybe in the hope of attracting a few nostalgic Lakeside fans to come and watch? - it has clearly been shown to be an error of judgement. He has been struggling to complete 4 laps of Central Park without taking a fall, and I really do wonder about his fitness to race competitively after so many injuries.

Maybe they can use r/r for Makovsky as well , speedway rules are totally bonkers

Kelleher may have got a nice move there, a Team who aren't riding half their Fixtures to a Team who seem to be riding all Home and Away matches unless Rain or opponents putting hold on season intervene. Regular pay or spasmodic pay...looks like Kelleher may have dodged a bullet

My mistake. I hadn't realised he was so high at the beginning of this season. But he's still done well, pushing it up to 4.83 in the few matches this season.

As predicted a complete walk in the park for Pirates. Thank you Scotty for putting up much needed resistance. Rider of the night IMO with some excellent racing. But the rest of them should have just stayed at home. One man v Poole. And seriously. Paul Hurry? Paul has been a very good servant for British speedway over the years, being a solid second string rider. But watching a tubby middle aged man miss the gate every time and struggle at the back was not good to see. Better he gives his place up to a rising star rider who is desperate for a team spot. His time has gone.

And that is indeed your perogative. Speedway Updates was designed to make the sport accessible to all, as an example, I can no longer travel to away meetings due to disabilites and without the various updates (and not just ours), I would probably have walked (well wheeled) away from the sport years ago. Some people can't afford to attend, some people can't go as they have to work or have family commitments....we have to keep interest in the sport, not push it away.

Live steams are important and it is good they are being put on. However, just like in person admission prices, not everyone can afford it. Would we rather people go without entirely and lose more fans or indeed attracting new ones to give it a try or keep chipping away, keeping/sparking an interest and preventing people from walking away from the sport for ever.

Given that the update service has been a huge assistance to many across the country for many years and all done entirely by volunteers i think that any attack on it and the great people who have helped is morally wrong. I also don't believe that the two are in competition. Someone will stream or watch the updates or neither. If someone has chosen to not pay the streaming fee i hugely doubt the reason is because someone trackside is sending through a 1-2 line update of the race details.

Having sat at home in France and watched online as he was taken out in some foreign country, frantically texting his girlfriend at the scene, waiting for what seemed like an eternity to find out if he could move his legs… it’s hard. It’s really hard. I despair at the organisation in the UK who really take for granted the talent they have at their resources. The lack of foresight and any semblance of a cohesive plan to forward the sport has been obvious for years. Britain could win world cups and world titles if only the powers that be could realise it’s no longer 1974. The world’s moved on. British speedway hasn’t.

Hope you enjoyed the meeting tonight I hav nt been this year due to work and to night I am in the caravan in north wales but to be honest I normally stand on the 3 rd 4th bend. The development of Anders has been a great highlight of the season btw The situation though belittles the sport and removes any credibility it may still have Speedway in Britain now is moving away from any true competition and bordering on the realms of WWE as 'sports entertainment ' The trouble is that much of the time the entertainment part is also missing......

Birmingham aren’t exactly regular with their fixtures.At the end of the day they will all ride the same number of fixtures by the end of season.Hopefully no Teams fold though.

Presumably a Division One meeting (standard closer to NDL than the Championship). All these meetings are at weekends. Will this be a regular occurunce?

I have never in my life put my backside over the saddle of a speedway bike. The only time I have sat on a bike was Martin Dugard bike set up for be the gater, leaving fastest time for dropping the clutch. But I don’t have to be a rider of any standard to witness what was evident in front if my eyes. Anyone with a modicum of speedway knowledge could see that his time has gone. Have Gary May or Rob Lyon been riders? Sorry but your post is moronic in the extreme.

Paul is taking up a berth that could be given to a rising star who is desperate for a team place. He is old, over weight, and his days of getting close to scoring are long gone. He really doesn’t deserve a team spit and he must know it as well. A club can be loyal to riders but really the Kent fans want to see their team be as competitive as they possibly can be and Paul should hold his hands up and say what everyone can see. Offer to be a coach and mentor to the juniors. His experience is worth more than his arse over a saddle.

I think that we need to be on our top form, and as it been pointed out Troy Batchelor needs to show more, if we are not then I think that Aces will come out on top. Clever move by the Sheffield management to get Anders Rowe in as a Guest for Josh Bates. Anders is still on the Rising Star list, the fact that Ipswich choose not to use him as a Rising Star is irrelevant, but you do have to question how well they thought out the Rising Star Scheme, to me it appears to have been cobbled together with very little thought. But what's new.

Maybe Poole released him for other reasons than just his track performance? Matt Ford's statement about not wanting him as a club asset speaks volumes imo!! And theres me thinking Robert Lambert was the 'ruthless' one??!

I can't remember Championship builds is it 39.00? if so Poole have 6.27 to spare or if its 38.00 5.27 to spare now.

How do you know what Scott thinks about the Poole track? Hes never complained about it before. No reason to moan about last night either. He always rides our place well, last night he was superb. Never gives less than 100% .A few of our younger Brits would do well to use Scott as a role model in commitment and attitude. I didnt notice the 'bumpy' track. When the riders were interviewed after Ht15, they all said the track was good. Shame we have parted ways with Zane, He was riding in the notoriously difficult No2.I thought he was making steady progress. A spell at reserve might just have helped him. I suppose thats what this is all about. Poole want to keep Cook and Hume at reserve for as long as possible and we do have points to play with. I am a big fan of Danyon. Loved watching him at NL level and I was delighted when we signed him. Beginning to sort himself out at Poole. Looking very fast and determined. So pleased for him. Both Danyon and Steve Worrall have quickly become my 2021 favourites. Steve is so classy on a bike. I do wonder if he hadnt broken his leg when he did, just how much better he would be. Then I suppose, we may not have him at Poole. I think this Poole team are settling in well and getting better with each meeting. Eastbourne, Glasgow, Leicester and Poole are my top four. Write us off at your peril.

I have been a supporter of Danyon from day one Bob and overall his speedway career has been a chequered one.Had a great start at Ipswich then had that bad injury ironically at Poole came back and was superb for Birmingham.For Leicester he was outstanding yet lesser riders were getting chances at Championship level mainly because of his average from Ipswich.Really hope he keeps his form going he certainly entertains is his average to high..? to go NL as well as that might help his match race fitness.To be doing as well as he is by riding only one league is very encouraging you at Poole seem to have an exciting seven with plenty of improvement to come.

Apparently volunteers are being asked to help clean up the stadium in anticipation of re-opening? If I was still local I would certainly make myself known at Sandy Lane having helped out during the rescue of the stadium back in 1976 and also when under the Wagstaff regime. I wish them well!

Since around the mid eighties... Screen, Loram, Cox, Cross, Wigg, Havelock, Tatum, Smith, Dugard, Knight, Thorpe, Doncaster, Harris, Nicholls, Cook, Louis, Woffinden, King, Lambert, Bewley.... And probably more I have missed... All have competed at the very top World or European level, with many of them winning or reaching the rostrum at that level.. Which shows that producing top class English/GB riders who can compete at the very highest level hasn't really been a problem since the sport began... The issue since circa 1985 is that most teams stopped using loads of English/GB lads below that level to fill up their teams with, and instead used riders of a similar level from around the globe, (journeymen without being disrespectful), to fill these slots... These youngsters coming through are not necessarily the 'next gen' of World Champions, (some may reach the level of the riders mentioned), but hopefully most will go on to provide a constant stream of 'mid level' riders with which to fill teams with and, hopefully have enough 'top level' lads to get "Team GB" back up consistently at, or near, the top of the rostrums of the various FIM events.. And, as having a consistently victorious 'national team' is is the only way the sport can get the mainstream media and major company sponsorship involvment it needs to grow the domestic leagues, then lets hope the plan to get these lads plenty of racing opportunities and development works.. When at least five out of seven riders in every team is British, and there is a clear demarcation between all the leagues, (be they two or three), then the domestic product may once again start to attract more interest...

I have to put my cards on the table at this point. I only ever attend live fixtures. I have never used the updates site. But I have seen it when standing with others at a meeting & believe it has value to those who want to keep updated. When I am at a speedway meeting I don't have a programme I choose only to watch the racing unfold & only after a race will I worry which riders are in it. The Stream is also a valuable asset but again one that I doubt I will use as it is my belief that speedway should be watched live. So no I am not in an Army of supporters that want it all for free nor am I a keyboard commando that spouts off at any given chance with out attending a meeting. I go to speedway all over the world & if given a quid for each time I heard the phrase "I used to go to speedway" a rich man I'd be. See you all at Poole tonight.

I Don't. The updates site has been in place for a good while & it helps those that cannot attend to keep up with what is going on in the speedway world without charge. The live stream is also very important as a social media outlet but it's reliability has been questioned several times & some people with limited funds would think twice before paying for this service.

Because it barely made enough money to cover the streaming costs on two occasions when it was the only live speedway - indeed live sport of any description - available to watch in the world so there is little reason to genuinely think that on any normal night that enough people would pay for a stream to generate the profits need to cover the costs of team racing (bearing in mind the profit must be enough to pay rider's wages for the reverse fixture too). The three livestreaming clubs mentioned all currently have crowd capacities restricted to less than they would normally expect to go through the turnstiles in "normal" circumstances thus, theoretically, creating a demand for streaming. According to the on-screen counter of the Poole v Berwick livestream a "high" of 290 tuned in at £9. Less than £3,000. Can't imagine there was much left over once you've paid a production company and a screening platform. Bradford City's CEO said that when, during Covid, they offered streaming to fans the take-up was such that they took around half what they would expect to get from selling burgers at a normal match - and that was providing a Sky-quality multi-camera stream and for one of the better supported lower league clubs. Also a genuine question. Why would anyone pay £17 to watch in person when you could buy a stream for a tenner? Streaming might provide an alternative (lesser) source of income for clubs; I really don't seen how anyone who genuinely takes the time to balance out the costs/returns of staging meetings can see it as an untapped source of extra income.
