  1. ‘ is anyone losing interest ‘ asks the title ?, well no as you ask. I find the ‘ sport ‘ fascinating now as individual promoters find their own interpretation of the rules ( are there any now ?). Having seen Poole’s and now Birmingham’s line ups for there next matches I am constantly entertained. A facility granted for a rider who hasn’t ridden for you when that was against the rules but now isn’t ?. A guest for an ‘ injured ‘ rider ( injured in this country allegedly )who is now riding in his own country but not here ? I used to think I understood most of the rules but not any more. I don’t think we can call speedway a sport for much longer as sports have rules, not guidelines to be used to increase an advantage for some but not all.

  2. Bjarne has been a fantastic servant to british speedway. What a fine season he is having.

  3. I like Lewis Kerr and he always comes across as a decent guy. It's riders like him that are making the British Leagues tick at the moment so good luck to him and if he was to achieve a rostrum place in the British Final I think it would mean a hell of a lot to him.

  5. Personally I think that it was in doubt from Friday evening so I wouldn't have been surprised if it was called off irrespective of the forecast. I think I've lost the point you're trying to make though. They had to make a call on the circumstances and information they had. So based on that it was correct decision. So you're saying that if you were paying the bills and doing the organisation you'd have waited until Monday (you've got until lunchtime I believe before losing your money), ignored the forecast and hoped that no unexpected showers crop up between 12 & 7.30 to further dampen you're already sodden circuit?

  6. Special one--off arrangements with rules and regs apply for this season.

  7. But that would involve Keleher being in the line up of both teams!

  8. Scotty, Bomber and Rory are the "official" guest riders for the BSP I think... The rules must state that you have to ask them first... Given they ride for so many teams each season, surely they deserve a winners medal come play off time, regardless of whether their own team reaches the final or not..? Maybe they would even qualify for a runners up medal too.?.. Joking apart, all three give 100% every meeting which must make them the "go to" riders for the promoters, and meetings with any of the three in attendance are usually the better for it..

  10. There is difference of opinion between two commentators, Tomasz Gollob in the studio and Miroslaw Jablonski at the track(both ex riders). Gollob saw Kenneth fault and Jablonski did not.

  11. don’t think the refs got a clue holder goes straight to run pedersen wide no problem. Pedersen cuts back again no problem think the problem was there was not enough room for all 3 just riders all going for it would have put everyone back in

  13. As a Farmer’s wife I totally understand any business following the Forecasts - it’s what we do 24/7. 365 days per year. It just becomes part and parcel of daily life - part of calculating what we do or don’t do each day - the other thing not mentioned which we follow (not sure about the Eoes but they may do so) is the Water Table - this year is exceptional and first time in over 30 years that we are not irrigating any crops and it’s the MIDDLE OF JULY - this a job that has usually been going on for weeks by this time of the summer. I doubt its hardly any different for Buster & Co so my feeling is that they made the right call - I would actually have been shocked if it had been on!

  16. So basically you like to sit at the EoES for an hour, look at a load of people staring at the track doing nothing, be thanked for your patience and then sent home again with your ticket and blank programme? That's what the forecast suggested. The call wasn't just based on the forecast alone, albeit what turned out to be an incorrect one, but additionally "Club staff have already pumped over 150 tonnes of water off the circuit following Friday’s deluge" - It might be summer but it ain't no 76 and when the riders got to look at it then I'm not sure that 72 hours non-drying time would have been enough for them to want to race on it.

  17. Here comes the forum trolls. Grow up children. The constant sniping at anything associated with Poole Speedway brings out the worst. Kindergarten mentality.

  18. The riders registration has been lodged with head office. It’s a covid/brexit issue which is taking longer than expected through no fault of the club. Patel needs to sign it off but she is too busy arguing with Tyrone Mings.

  21. Anyone who may be interested in Hastings Saxons of 1948 and 1949..... I have finally got around to updating my vintage speedway site that is a tribute to this short lived speedway venture. I have added a new Gallery 4 with the help of some wonderful contributions from followers for which I am truly grateful. Always looking to add to it. Some unidentified riders in the new gallery....... I don't want to guess who they could be so any help with identifying them would be gratefully received http://1066-media.com/hastingssaxons/index.htm

  25. Great meeting I don’t want to get into the politics of what some people are saying Poole are a good side and I’m over the moon to get 1 point.how ironic is it that young kellerher hope I spelt it right has his best meeting of the season and is named rider of the night he scores 6 plus 2 which is more than the R/R got for Poole I did find it bizarre that poole went straight in with worrall in heat 1 as the R/R I thought they might have used him later in the meeting but as I say great night stood with some lovely lads from the pirates tonight they were a good laugh and they couldn’t get some of middlos decisions especially not using Rory in heat 15 and the use of worrall in heat 1 they also called it in the last race by saying it would be a 5-1to us as they reckon they have been not great in heat 15 this season there words not mine but they definitely saw it as 2 points lost not 2 points gained had a great night some good craic saw a great meeting and saw the 3 times world champion brilliant.

  27. We very much appreciate him at Lynn, he's a good, brave guy and was on top form before his broken collarbone. He needs time to get back to that, the absolute idiots out there only see black and white. And however much Lewi puts it to the back of his mind their black words hurt

  29. Tough call, but Bjerre did cause the collision when he changed his line, so the ref got that right. Nicki was knocked unconcious, but otherwise o.k, he even wanted to ride again but the doctor won't let him.

  30. There was two riders who couldn't be excluded (if any needed to be) surely? And Bjerre was one of them....

  31. I was thinking something along the same lines. Although I accept that the only name over the door of Coventry Speedway at this time was that of the infamous M Horton, Neil Watson's long association as his co promoter inevitably means he will be tarred with the same brush. I would describe their time as Brandon as at best very poor , at worst abysmal, & if were in Neil Watson's position I would be keeping a very low profile not bulling myself up as someone of importance in British speedway

  33. Bruce Penhall, Dag Lovaas, Ron Preston and Phil Collins all could have been around for much longer if they wanted to. At the other end of the scale, Jim Brett of Belle Vue looked like he was about to make the breakthrough but quit as he had a good job lined up (in IT I believe, which in the late 70s would have been pretty well paid I imagine)

  34. It’s completely frustrating for everyone whom meetings are postponed for the club, it’s riders and supporters, I do have some experience of trying to get race days at the Showground and it’s not as easy as it used to be because of other events on those weeks and health & safety issues which affect whether speedway can run alongside other events, mostly they cannot. The track had clearly taken an excessive amount of rain on Friday and even getting it on having had no more would be have been a major task but the forecast was dreadful and quite rightly and likely to save considerable expense if nothing else the decision to try and run was correctly declined. In years gone by Promotions were not required to pay the full cost of renting the stadium and travel costs for riders and officials including flights etc if matches were postponed late but those days are gone and they now are which clearly comes into the equation. I dare say if you ran Peterborough Speedway things would be different but thankfully you are not and this way no one is unnecessarily inconvenienced other than you.

  35. No it was the correct decision end of. You wouldn't be happy with a straight call off on Sunday, you'd want weather and temperature charts from Friday evening. You've already questioned summer drying time. The forecast they had, which is no doubt the one that they use and trust, said rain on this occasion. It matters not that someone else can find something different. If you're not paying the bills or doing the work then it is easy to say that the show must go on but you might have been of different mind if you were. The press release was fine and to add in the forecast (as they knew it) was also ok. You're just arguing for the sake of it now so I'll bid you good day!

I’ve got a loyal audience though and even when I’m not in the country I won’t be letting my fans down… need something to do since me and hubby can’t hit the nightlife as much now (the joys of kids!! ) Keep your eyes peeled!

  42. and if he rides it like he rides Mildenhall he won't. Personally i feel its hard to look past Brennan but if Flint is fit and Kemp is up for it then they could put up a good fight. Plenty of spoilers in the field too so any slip ups and title has gone.

  43. I don't think a facility is available here because the rules state...... 'No facility is permitted to replace a rider, who although included in a redeclaration has not made an appearance for that team since being redeclared.' Ondrej Smetana has already been declared according to latest greensheets. Poole can't revert to original line up because Zane Kelleher rides for Plymouth.

IMO But it’s all just a bit of banter to wind up us forum fannies.. Really looking forward to this weeks contribution ,there had to a reason that Edinburgh were so good ,special Clutch Plates and oversize engines no doubt ,no time to prepare track due to return of football.,or the forecast of rain.Maybe even the ref Monarch Magregor( or is it Jim) letting his lads getting fliers from the gate. All in a night at the Skids
