Think Lublin will be happy the way”their” Team performed given the injury to Laguta.Polish supporters support “their” team and associate with them.In GB it’s just anybody we can find to ride for us system.Just a joke sport here on who are Champions and Cup winners. It means so much more in Poland.5 points

Approx 30%. The tv money doesn’t make up for the shortfall. Add in having to ride on Mondays and Thursdays, the same opposition every 3 weeks and it becomes very unattractive. I was against Poole dropping down but considering the league is double the size and there is no difference bar a couple of riders in team strengths, it’s a no brainer.4 points

Bloody Hell! There's more lights shining on that poster than on the terraces at the Eddie Wright raceway! Any chance that we can all have a free candle in order that we can see to fill in our programmes and also not break our necks up the unlit terraces. And whilst you're about it, please sort out your p.a. system Mr Godfrey. I'm tired of all of the Norman Collier jokes and the Chinese whispers about the race times when you can't make out a word that's being said.. For the chair of the B.S.P.L. to expect us to put up with that quality of presentation sums up the state of British Speedway!3 points

I thought this thread was supposed to feature Wolves and Peterborough. I for one couldn't give a monkeys about Poole and whether they should be in the premiership or not. There time has come and gone and the less said the better!3 points

Personally I think the first thing speedway needs to address are user friendly bikes. Bikes that riders can control on less than perfect surfaces, tyres that work on a wet surface, once you get the confidence in the paying public that a meeting will run to the end they may start to come back. As it is, the first sign of drizzle and everyone wants to give up! Unless it was monsoon conditions, I don't recall the issues we have now back in the day, and that was before dirt deflectors. Once the fans start coming back, then you can think about being more professional. Clubs need to be sustainable from the off and I think that starts with riders wages and equipment costs. Get back to basics and then move forward.3 points

Perfect example of where the referee should be able to award a race even when less than half a lap completed....2 points

I don’t think living in social housing means the occupiers have fallen on hard times. They are for families who cannot afford, from their income, to pay the high price houses that some areas have. This would include low pay workers like nurses, care workers, transport workers etc. Those workers have been classed as “key” workers and no doubt they work in those sectors because they like the job, even though it’s not high pay. I think they may be upset if some class them as they have fallen on hard times. I think the not often used now term of council houses would have been similar in the past. I was brought up in a council house, and though we didn’t have bags of money we certainly was not on hard times.2 points

Rather than point the finger at Rob Godfrey about the visa issue with Tero he has been 100 % truthful , it’s a shame the other promoters who it has affected are very quiet on the subject . Plus it’s a side in the play offs. ?? Rob stated that Tero was having an issue getting in and out the country after riding in foreign meetings and he certainly isn’t the only rider but fire bullets at Rob for telling the truth unlike other sides2 points

Premiership teams can nominate a rider with a Championship average of 3.00 or below who not declared in a Premiership 1-7 as an additional rider (AR)2 points

I question if it helped us on our way. Because of the injury he scored 0,0 in his first two rides. Yes we got 5+1 for the last two rides but a fully fit MPT would have scored more than that, guaranteed.2 points

There is a quite significant saving if what you read on the Newcastle and Eastbourne threads are accurate re payment.. With Eastbourne paying "too much" for the 2nd Division according to other promoters.. Probably far too simplistic, but maybe the conversion rate they use for averages is also linked in some way to points money conversion too? ie it is "easier" to earn more in the 2nd Division so you get less per point? I would also think that the 2nd Division teams could drive a harder bargain too as so many of the same (decent), standards riders will be relying on that second job due to very limited overseas opportunities... And. Let's be honest, given the crowd numbers the sport has, it shows hardly anyone really cares who wins either league title anyway so you might as well be "successful" for less.. Poole's crowds from what I have seen and heard are at the top end of the scale of any club in the UK, but wouldn't I would suggest get another 500 or so through the door if top of Div One rather than top of Div Two... And of course from an entertainment perspective you get to see virtually all of the best riders riding in the UK each week just like the Div One fans do.. I would also suggest that a few Div 2 teams should have taken the same decision and dropped down to Div 3 in a similar fashion, although to be fair, the Div 3 standard was messed about with which maybe dissuaded them from doing so.. 1000% the correct business decision for Poole, but not surprising as over the years they have made many good busines decisions... One of the sports major issues is the way some run it as a "money no object" hobby bringing salary inflation into it.. If all had to run it as a pure business to make themselves money to live, then I am sure many decisions made collectively by those who run it would be a lot different.. And the sport would be in a much healthier position because of it..2 points

I know we've had this headline before, but the Adver is now reporting that work has started on the new stadium. Work starts on Swindon Speedway's new Abbey Stadium | Swindon Advertiser2 points

I love how Shovlar thinks the Championship is the bees knees now.Oh how he changes his mind,he thought it was utter rubbish before the season started and was even contemplating not going. He would love Poole to be in the Prem play offs and not the Champ just so he could gloat even more.2 points

It would be nothing short of farce and a major embarrassment for speedway if Edinburgh were to win the league this season. I know we must all bow down to the insane American obsession of back door winners and second chances aplenty but any team finishing a distant fifth during the qualifying campaign shouldn't even be given the opportunity to plunge yet another dagger into the heart of a once beautiful sport.2 points

Looking at the new averages it is just as well Harris and Andersen had poor performances v Sheffield and then engine failures when well placed v King’s Lynn! Anyone might have thought it had been planned!2 points

Is that Hans Andersen, nick Morris and Ryan Douglas riding on a wet grippy difficult track tonight? Surely not2 points

See Geoff Brown announced on Look North tonight that "Rob Grant has decided to run for another year"? "Great news he said the Diamonds are back" Here Here Geoff... However I may not have that verbatim and he may have just made a sweeping statement but if we are only looking at one more year we do need to get our thinking caps on and get moving as it could be we aren't out of the woods yet and we are in the same predicament at the end of next season... I am getting lots of PM's pledging money and wanting to be part of a trust or similar to support the club so looking forward to seeing people next Tuesday... Regards THJ2 points

They are but as last night there is that risk of going down to five men....not sure they would get away with it against Sheffield or Belle Vue.1 point

Rob Lyon plotted his resources well again , i thought that Peterborough could of had a 0-5 in heat 3 Morris fell on his own then Douglas moved over out of the graveyard gate 1 and went into MPT taking his space, many including the ref didn't see it that way but with the track wet at the start he seemed to take that into consideration.1 point

Tough on Danyon but he has done well this year and I would want him back next season. If Ben is fit we have a trump card at reserve for the playoffs.1 point

They not gonna be on the same pay. It was what was said when we moved down, that there was a big saving in costs. Tv money can't be very high, not many meetings shown this season!1 point

Taxi was surprisingly expensive so I got the bus, not the best of journeys but cheap. I think it took about an hour but it was a few years ago so memory a bit dodgy1 point

Entertaining though this thread is ........ really, a speedway track so close to a new housing development that the shale will pepper the residents washing as it hangs out to dry. I am minded to think of a well known bedding shop - DREAMS. Sittingbourne have had severe planning restrictions with noise barriers, and an 8.30pm curfew, on a track located on an industrial estate, due to one resident who lives a a mile away from the stdium. Appeals have been rejected. Hundreds of new homeowners, none of whom are likely to be faintly interested in Speedway will not put up with the noise and dust from a speedway track in their back yards.1 point

Oh how I miss those times at Brandon. The C O never lost sight of the importance of providing the fans with the best meeting presentation he could , one of several attributes he had which made Coventry Speedway the place it was.He was always searching for ways to improve the evening out for his crowd. I recall one occassion when he was doing his usual pre meeting rider presentation he went to great lengths to explain to all that he was trialling a new " throat microphone" which allowed him to allowed him to address the crowd without the use of the traditional hand held device & that he " did hope" everyone could hear him properly . He always struck me as a very proud man who cared about the supporters & always provided VFM , I just wish there were a few more like him around the sport today.1 point
