As the season is about to start, I would like to wish all clubs a good season, whether they finish first or last. Good crowds, great racing, nothing serious on the injury front, plenty of controversy, great racing, last heat deciders, with all clubs making it through to the end of the season without threat of closure. Time for the sport to grow, bring in new fans, entice old clubs like Swindon, Eastbourne and Workington back to the Championship, and bring hope to Coventry fans that something might happen soon. In the next couple of weeks the banter will start, arguments will erupt and the mud slinging will be in full swing. I am as guilty as the next fan. But remember, we are all fans of the sport and in this current political climate, survival of all clubs is paramount. Let’s all look forward to a great new season with the rightful winners of the Championship after a titanic battle full of drama and excitement. Bring it on!17 points

Been quiet on the Bears thread for a while, first meeting in a few days time against the Diamonds but some news today of a new signing. Redcar Speedway is delighted to reveal a new deal has been reached with Medics UK which allows an additional ambulance to attend all meetings at The ECCO Arena in 2022. A second ambulance should see an end to the majority of long delays caused by riders needing medical treatment.6 points

Popped up briefly to p & p today and our 3 juniors were having a skid, sorry no idea who they are but definitely didn't seem like wobblers, so looks like we're ready.3 points

It seems that PZM wanted BSPL to accept being third tier, which would have meant absolutely no priority over other leagues - that is clearly not acceptable, so was rightly rejected.3 points

Kids should always be free,,, at every track. I don't have kids, so makes no difference to me,,, but I totally agree, good on ipswich for free kids. They should be free everywhere.3 points

Another 3 tractors going around with Buster and you could be right...2 points

Especially those RS's in Div 2 who will be getting that crucial opportunity to use that so important 'stepping stone' to see if they can make that jump into 2nd tier racing from a more junior level, before possibly moving on to bigger things... Oh, hang on a minute.....2 points

Congratulations to Michael palm toft for beating a class field in the Peter craven memorial last night beating Woffinden in the final is no mean feet first meeting or not go gladiators.2 points

If you mean the final Brennan scored 15+1 across the two legs and Pailin 9+3. They were both better in their away legs. I think its a big year for them both, they should be looking to put a point or two on in each league.2 points

I an sure a lot of it was "novelty factor" which gets brought on by some "big names" being there given it's been so long to have a domestic meeting with such riders, and the early season date will also have helped.... Woffy alone would have put a couple of hundred and maybe more on the gate I am sure... Personally having say 10 individual, well promoted, well sponsored meetings through the season of this standard of rider, would be much more beneficial for the track, and the sport, than running 20 league and cup meetings with adhoc riders turning up to help clubs win competitions of very little value.. Woffy saying he could ride every Monday for the Aces was funny, but had some resonance, as I am sure crowds with him there each Monday would be much bigger than the crowds the Aces will get.. As mentioned before, I never know why when tracks get "bumper crowds" enlarged by many "lapsed fans" coming out of the woodwork at the start of the season, or on Bank Holidays, nothing is ever done to get them to make more repeat visits more regularly.. Attracting new fans to be regulars is often like pushing water uphill, so getting those who already know about you, and follow you, to attend more regularly must be the easier option yet it appears not worthwhile for so many promoters.. A strange outlook..2 points

The Brummies need 1,000 people through the door every week, or even more if most of them only pay concessionary admission, and digging up Barnyard Pedalo and putting him into the team is NOT going to achieve that goal. He is widely unpopular at Perry Barr, and would only disincentivise fans from wanting to go again.2 points

For me it wasn't as good as the weaker field line-up from the end of last season... but then this attracted double the crowd, so go figure. Heat 20! was worth the 3 hour trip up from Leicester including a 45 minute motorway closure and a 2 and a half hour trip home with another motorway closure! To those that say fans have no appetite for individual meetings, last night was a near sell out, proving that if you can assemble the right line-up the fans will turn out2 points

2800 last night good crowd but play offs have had similar if not more, SoN last year was bigger, south stand was sold out for that and 3rd and 4th bends were used too then.2 points

Quite rightly it was voted out as well…would have been a disaster for British speedway if it hadn’t.2 points

Put simply, the 2nd Div is too strong.. There is every need for that league to be the stepping stone to the top level in this country, and giving those NL heat leaders a chance at reserve.. Unfortunately the 2nd tier rules the roost and gets the best of both worlds, ie Div One heat leaders and experienced reserves... Without the cost of paying out for the riders the level of Doyle, Fricke etc..1 point

There’s absolutely zero need for the rising star rule in the championship young riders if good enough get their chance anyway. A quick look through the lineups would confirm that can’t really think of a single young British rider who is realistically championship standard and wanted a ride that doesn’t have one1 point

If rumours from reliable sources are correct we won't be allowed to sign riders who will miss more matches than they ride in and who would miss the majority of home matches and significant numbers away. As a Brummies fan that's worrying and frustrating but if the BSPL are blocking moves to protect us and all other Clubs, I actually understand that because a club that would be reliant on guests more often than not cannot be good for us or the sport. Injuries facilitating guests are down to bad luck and can be justified. Absences due to prior commitments I believe are a different matter. Hopefully the issues can be resolved for both the Brummies and the BSPL.1 point

Was a good watch. I know it was brought up but he does need to drop some weight. 10 years off a bike and having the physique of a bodybuilder aren't great early signs. Do hope Lee has a good return to the sport though. Box office rider who always gave 110% and was fantastic round Owlerton.1 point

Birmingham have their team it’s just waiting for them to announce it or will it just be a case of come to Leicester on Saturday to find out ? Some of these issues have been caused by a rider having their arm twisted to ride for Birmingham as No1 then trying to back track saying if you can get anyone else I will drop out as they are not fussed about starting in Championship in 20221 point

Only in speedway could a team like Leicester name their riding order before Brummies have even named their team...1 point

The 1,000 figure may have been reduced, depends on what the deal is with new sponsorship deal with Curtis printers. Quite possible that the programmes will be printed at a greatly reduced cost or even better for free. This would allow the club another way to make some extra money alongside the money they make from fans going through the turnstiles.1 point

Terrific Youtube content from Lee Complin there. I'm not a fan of social media but it is exactly what the general public are after. There's a good backstory there regardless of whether or not his comeback goes well. Really professionally done and great exposure for sponsors.1 point

The most significant difference between King's Lynn & Peterborough for Buster is clear. The lengthy track grades are to do with food & drink takings, to which he doesn't receive at the Showground.1 point

That's a shame. With Tai there, I think they would have got maybe over 1000 people to stream it and it could have brought over 10 grand into the kitty. But I wasn't going to do a four-hour drive on a Monday night.1 point

Bang On!! If they are not there now, you lose absolutely nothing by giving them free admission.... And if the kid wants to go, then simply the parent or guardian has to go too... And having "quite a few kids" from the same school also means they can watch together, which can only encourage repeat visits... Why do establishments provide free rooms for kids parties? Simply because they know adults (and their wallets and purses), will be in attendance...1 point

You are giving him far too much credit. We are 2.5 points under the points limit to start with !!!! if we had signed a 6.5 rider instead of starke which would enable heeps to start at reserve we would have been up there with Sheffield.1 point

So short sighted and terrible attitude. Costs me 20 quid for me and my daughter to go to Foxhall, will cost me £29 at Peterborough! That’s a huge difference. My daughter wasn’t initially keen to go at the beginning, and I certainly wouldn’t have paid to take her knowing she wasn’t overly fussed about going, but because she was free to get in I dragged her along for company to see what she thought. She now won’t miss a meeting, and it’s actually me that can’t be bothered some nights but I end up going for her. Club merchandise, teenage crush on Heeps, the works! You never can tell, but every chance in a few years once she turns 17, she’ll return as a paying customer. How many others are just like her? Saw more youngsters at Foxhall last year than probably all the away tracks I visited combined. Is there any wonder? Again, well done to the Ipswich promotion for some forward thinking, pity the others aren’t of the same mindset1 point

You posted a similar comment recently and received a great deal of opprobrium, yet you come back and try again. From their comments and behaviour it is clear that both riders abhor and condemn their country's egregious actions. Both are decent men who face having their livelihood taken away from them through no fault of their own. Only 5 countries, Russia itself, North Korea, Eritrea, Syria and Belarus, voted against the U.N. resolution condemning Russia's actions. Any decent person will feel sad, helpless and also admiration for the brave Ukrainian people's resistance and for their immense suffering and also support the West's isolation of Russia. Yet you post a truly pathetic post once again saying Belle Vue should capitalise on the situation. I think you must be a despicable lowlife to attempt to troll decent people on this forum in such sad times. It's not 'banter' or 'just having a joke mate lighten up'. You are a sick individual who should think long and hard about why you post what you do.1 point
