  1. I think he will need to... A win for the Aces will cement their place in the play offs... Oh. Hang on a minute...

  2. The problem was caused by the promoters themselves by having two team building rules that contradicted each other when Bluster became chairman he was going to rip up the rule book and simplify it but of course that didn’t happen. The rules need to be written by a professional with a legal background so the rules are concise and without loopholes in theory if zagar sprains his wrist that could be deemed as a season ending injury as we only have three weeks remaining. So in theory Belle vue could sign zsmarslik to replace him on a 8pt average. ii want to make it clear Belle vue have done nothing wrong at all. The rules are at fault as they are Ill thought out and applied at will. we desperately need a independent ruling body to run our sport before they kill it off.

  3. Can’t afford it don’t do it imo. You know what you’ve signed up for. As said in another post can’t just pick and choose when you feel like riding or travelling to. If serious about it you’d want as much track time and riding different tracks as possible to improve.

  4. Yeah it would make sense start off small and build it up, run in the NDL and make money on track hire, other events etc. However, looks like there could be as few as 7 in the championship next year IF Glasgow were to have a go in the Premiership. I’m sure if that was the case the BSPL would be asking the possibility of Workington joining the Championship. Afternoon racing in the NDL, with trackdays, the British youth championship and a few Open meetings with star names is probably along the lines of what will happen in 2023.

  5. When Lockdown was eased and you could venture further afield I wished to visit the local Arboretum only to find that you had to book in advance...an Arboretum of all places where social distancing wasn't an issue. When I went on line to book reluctantly (who would want to book in advance not knowing what the weather might be like?) only to find that there was a £1-50 booking fee...Sod that I said and didn't pursue with the booking out of priciple.

  6. Great business by the poles Thursday,Fridays & Sundays all protected for their 8 team league. Goes to show how strong they are & how weak the UK is.

  7. Don't forget, Sheffield v Ipswich is another match that won't happen - neither of these can go ahead simply because of the Green Sheet problem. Reducing to 10 matches was a ridiculous decision.

  8. How do you know it won't be many?. It could be every week if they have a wet summer. Damn stupid if they agree to that

  9. Always sad when a track closes down but what went on at Swindon was despicable with lies upon lies and false promises.

  10. But but but - all our team has already been allocated elsewhere for 2023 - well according to BSF team lineups for next season!!

  11. Fingers crossed that they will let you stay for 2023 season whilst you have more time to long for something long term.

  12. But Berntzon v Zmarzlik or Laguta v Kasprzak turned out not to be unpredictable in 2021. They met 44 times in the series and Bart and Artem won all 44 encounters.

  13. I'm sure Sheffield & Ipswich are delighted.

  14. Hopefully the NDL playoffs on BSN will be well supported, the service has been a breath of fresh air for an nomad fan like myself. Hopefully will see you covering a meeting at Northside, Workington next season!

  15. I can't see why some are saying it's a boring selection. It was the only selection imo, unless they put more Poles in the line-up, & nobody wants half the field to be like that. No extra Brits, Swedes, Danes, Germans etc deserve to be at the top table right now. Anyone else (except Poles) would have weakened the series further.

  16. Easy Woffinden rode 6 league matches before play offs not like Lambert brought in as a ringer for half a semi final and final.

  20. No,it's go to be a 0-0 surely so all riders reduce their averages for next season. Lawson should definitely think about it.Can't see anyone wanting him on a 7.91 average next season.I don't believe riders do average reduction over the season, but on this occasion if i was Lawson i would think about it.It is easy for him to lose about a point off his average with it only being over the last 10 matches. If he scores 0 that will replace a 16 he scored against Wolves. I would be thinking take a hit on one pay packet to make sure i get a further 25 pay packets next season.

  22. I ask again...one league with how many teams? And as for second half racing, yeah, of course. Selling a 1970's product in the 2020's. What could possibly go wrong? About as likely as football bringing back real leather "caser" balls for the Premier League next year too.

  23. Why on earth would Panthers give up local derbies against Lynn, Ipswich and now Leicester.

  27. That haunted me for years. There is footage of this match race but I have never seen it. It’s not on YouTube. I still remember it clearly though. Wilson gated and rode wide, Ashby rode the inside and got up the inside of Wilson down the back straight of lap 4. Today a rider would have not allowed Wilson around the outside but Martin was a gent and gave racing room which Wilson exploited. At Wembley Wilson was crap and Ashby didn’t get a ride. Wilson went through the tapes and the full Wembley bend were chanting Ashby’s name, only for Gordeevvto come out. Another early Ashby memory for me was a the Abbey, against Sheffield. He was left at the start, think his fuel wasn’t turned on. He got going passed the two number two’s and started his chase of Bob Valentine down. He was a straight behind but he got Valentine off the final bend to bring the house down. Ashby in his prime was rarely beaten with a 10.24 average. The occasional defeat at the Abbey by Collins, Olsen and Mauger.

  30. So in your world all it takes is a lawyer to get what you want, the rules mean nothing? If that’s the case there’s nothing to stop an NDL side signing Zmarzlik. I’m not buying it. In the real world it’s a crying shame we need a lawyer to see the rules implemented correctly. In a sport that governs itself and is rife with petty jealousies and self interest that I’m afraid is what it takes. BSPL/BSF should be ashamed of themselves.

  31. THE long wait for the Peter Collins autobiography is nearly over. This mammoth 504-page, full colour book by British speedway’s most decorated champion and published by ourselves at Retro Speedway is now with our printer. All being well, everyone who has pre-ordered a personally signed copy should hopefully receive it by the end of this month. We sincerely apologise for the delay of a book that we initially planned to release in mid-August but was delayed for all the right reasons. We’ve added more than 100 pages to the original spec, many more rare pictures and lots more content. All this added weeks to a hefty tome but we are confident the wait will be worthwhile. Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you haven’t ordered your copy from us yet, taking advantage of our introductory offer of a £5 saving on the RRP of £25 in the UK, go to www.retro-speedway.com or phone Susie on 01708 734 502. Peter will sign every copy ordered through Retro Speedway, which is another great reason to buy it for £20 directly from us instead of the likes of online giants Amazon and retailers Waterstones. Thank you.

  32. So now the UK promotions have to keep an eye on Polish weather forecasts as well as their own. I certainly think the poles have the better side of that deal. Makes it less likely Thursday clubs will sign Extraliga riders but the poles were never going to give up the 1 league rule without getting something back in return

  35. But you knew the score when you signed on for a NDL side. Plenty of riders did long away days the other way round and ran at big losses for the trips however they did them because signing for a NDL side means you sign up for all the meetings not just the home ones and away tracks you like.

  36. Agreed. But at least Poole & Scunny have been here in 3 separate competitions - allowing for the play off to be regarded as thus. No doubt you are correct re 2 home & 2 away - and will not be a surprise if at some point on at least one occasion a team will visit BP on back to back weeks - Not what the fans will want to see.

  37. 010.3.1 Cut Off Date No team changes will be allowed after 28th August with the effective date being 31st August. Except riders returning to the team after injury who must re-take their position, dictated by their MA, with their replacement being released. This is from the 2022 Regulations What you have quoted is when the transfer window is applicable

  38. 011.1.18Bona-Fide Attempt to Race A rider, who, having started in a heat does not make an honest attempt to ride to the best of their ability, as judged by the Referee, shall be guilty of an offence, which may entail disqualification from the heat or a penalty. Failure to make a bona-fide attempt to race, if the Referee considers it to be an alternative to not participating in a meeting, is an offence. In team and pairs competitions, team riding is permitted. Mind you when has BSF ever had the desire to race within the rules? Openly discussing cheating as an acceptable way to compete in sport. Why am I not surprised

  42. With r/r at 2, meaning Edwards in heat 8 (waste of a ride) I'd swap Pijper & Rathbone. If Mildenhall are going to put a nigh on unbeatable rider in heat 8, I'd have my 2 weakest against him & look to pick up points in the heats without Edwards in! Edit: Oxford did the same tonight Jenkins getting an extra ride in heat 8. Don't understand that, if Oxford wanted to build a good lead for the second leg, they'd need their top man beating as many heat leaders as possible, not second strings & reserves!

  44. Apart from a decent team, most punters would probably like to see a well thought out racing programme with at the very least regular fortnightly meetings throughout the summer months, not the situation the three leagues are in. The play offs should be done and dusted in late August/early September. What is wrong with those in charge of the sport? For goodness sake start thinking about how to adapt the sport to the domestic market and stop chasing something which is never going to happen, the top overseas riders gracing us with their presence (unless the season is over elsewhere and they see the u k as a soft touch for a few more pounds/euro in the pocket). Diversify and put on the meeting as an event not just 15 heats over two plus hours and think that is job done. It is not value for money. Dump Eurosport for the domestic racing and let BSN take over the broadcast of meetings, invest in what you have not some pipe dream that televised meetings on a main channel is the panacea. So much opportunity but it just lacks imagination by the dinosaurs who run the sport.

  49. Thanks for that. I cannot understand why anyone would want to leave negative comments. I really appreciate what is being done here. Engine noise certainly doesn’t mix within communities, hence all the opposition to speedway tracks. New tracks just don’t get approval anywhere near houses, and what we have all seen at Swindon where a community was virtually built on top of a track…it was easily seen by all that the speedway racing was going to disappear, and it has. These machine give access to younger ones, give them a start to into speedway, at relatively low cost, the power can be increase easily by software on a mobile phone, so gradual increases are available at any time without large cost increases in changing engine. Great for the times we are living in, and I can’t wait to see how it all develops.
