He said that you look weaker than last season, that the Cooks need to step up and riding in the Prem might effect their form and that he doesn't think you will win the league without some changes. I think that's all fair enough and quite a few people would agree with that.5 points

He was a very loved and a complete rider, he did very well in a 60's Provincial League at BV I remember, and was a throughly good person to know. After being transferred to Newcastle Speedway from Stoke he moved to our area with his family and continued with his Painting and Decorating company. Always cheerful, he also looked as if he was upto something with his boyish cheeky look. Sadly after emigrating to OZ with his family he later deteriorated and for many years he was in a home. RIP Peter.3 points

He's made some very good points in that post. Perhaps wait for him to do some actual trolling before getting your knickers twisted?3 points

One night, years ago now, we attended a Crewe 'Kings' Reunion. When we we were returning from the Function, we shared a taxi with 'Taffy' Owen and Pete Kelly. I have never laughed so much in my life. The stories they told were so funny. I will ever remember that trip in the taxi with fondness and appreciation. Thanks for the memories. Two great lads. May they both Rest in Peace. +2 points

Intending to ride again for Poole in 1971, Gordon returned to Sydney at the end of his second season with the Pirates, ready to race in the Australian Speedway season. Gordon was to be based at Liverpool Speedway, but in his first meeting he was involved in a crash when laying his bike down to avoid a fallen rival. He was struck from behind by another rider and suffered severe head injuries. Tragically, he never regained consciousness and died in hospital eight days later on 16th November 1970, a week before his 30th birthday.2 points

Sorry yes i forgot i must say Poole are the best thing since sliced bread!! You have lost a top quality heat leader and you are hoping that Cook steps up...........he may or may not and all i said was he has an extra league to contend with so is a risk..... I also said Poole will be there or thereabouts because they always make changes if needed I also think that my side Ipswich will struggle if we dont get a big heat leader in to support Doyle Trouble with all you lot down Poole you always believe you are the best and nobody can have a different opinion or they are a troll2 points

Like been said he's got the talent when he takes it seriously, 2 or 3 seasons ago Heeps spent pre season training with Scotty and came into the season looking trim and fit and it showed on track but sadly it was a one off, he's still young enough to turn it around but it's up to him to be more professional about it all.2 points

Having read the chapter in Peter's book about ex-riders visiting their track free of charge I have to agree with his views 100%. He goes into it in great detail and personally I don't see it as a problem and the initiative would only benefit the track involved with good PRO and supporter involvement. It's a shame that his friendship with Chris Morton appears to have been badly affected with events that the new Belle Vue and it's regime's policy adopted (no image of Peter Craven in the lounge dedicated to the great "Ace" beggars belief!). The talk of a museum within the new complex was also met with apathy apparently by the those in charge at the time. Ex- Cheetah, Mark Lemon, appears to follow the same directive and it's all very sad and helps creates animosity...no wonder speedway is in the state that it now appears to "enjoy". I would be aghast if I thought that my own team expected the likes of Eddie Reeves, Rick Timmo, Gordon Kennett and Dag Lovaas ( yes that name again "Chunky") were expected to pay on entry to Cowley?2 points

I forgot to put the Derwent park comparison in, plus here's a King's Lynn one too! Derwent Park.. King's Lynn..1 point

Here's a few 1 to 1 scale comparisions I had a play with, placing the new track on top of existing ones Redcar.. A fair bit bigger and wider than Redcar. Belle Vue.. Fits inside the dimensions, looks slightly wider perhaps but tighter corners Sheffield.. Tighter bends, but much much wider. And Plymouth.. Basically the whole of the Centre Green would fit the Plymouth Track with a bit of Room to spare!!1 point

Nah,,, we would be better with a Miskoviak, Cierniak,, Kvech,, Salonen,, Pedersen.. Lampart1 point

Tbf I haven't mentioned it being like a roundabout since 2021 season. I should get a prize for good behaviour during 2022 season1 point

Pot kettle black there. You are very sensitive about the Plymouth track, especially when I call it a roundabout1 point

It happened when Jim Ryman fell on the pit bend on the first lap. His bike collided with Guasco, causing him to fall. He was then struck on the head by the bike of Roger Brooks who was immediately behind the fallen pair.1 point

I'd say Bellego is a better rider than he was in 2019. Also 18 of his 24 league matches will be on big tracks next season.1 point

Not weaker in my view, Ben Cook can easily step up, he was riding like a heat leader at the end of the season and more racing will help in view, riding in the Premiership can only make him better. I don't think we will need to make changes, we could have done last season with the way some of our riders were performing but we kept faith and it worked out pretty well. Also our number 7 is better, more experienced rider although I hope Ablitt will be back at some point in the future.1 point

Kurri kurri (rd3) aren’t live-streaming, but it will b up on YouTube a day or 2 after the meeting. I’ll post a link up from the NSW titles or the Boxing Day meeting from the fella that does them.1 point

The DU's should have one average... Their 2nd Div one timesed by whatever the conversion rate is... So if a six in Div One and rate is 150% then they are a nine point rider in Div 2.. It would immediately reduce the number of "big scoring" heat leaders per team and share them around.. No point having a conversion rate and not using it... They could even take the mean % difference between all the DU's and make that the following seasons conversion rate.. A true rate based on performance.. And I would also suggest it would highlight any "coincidental lowering of averages" in Div 1 quite easily given they would need to do the same in Div 2 to appear "legit"...1 point

...and there I was hoping that in 2023 the Poole thread would be troll-free!!! Now where is that ignore button?1 point

Scored big when it mattered in end of season play offs and KO Cup where averages don’t count.Pooles Top3 all took turns of dropping points early season.IM0.Did Danny Ford not say he would have had all 3 back if the hadn’t reduced Team Total Averages for this season.Tells you something IMO.1 point

Regarding Poole take a look at the Speedway Stats Website as gives an interesting insight into his Poole AV. Over 38 matches - 9.24 CMA and 9.87 incl BP. But if you look at his av when the play offs started go to his 2022 stats and look at the scores he racked up in both Champ and Prem from August onwards. None of his play off scores go into the GSA average as only regular season scores count. You could also argue the same on GSA's about both Ben & Zach Cook if you look at their av in the play offs.Look at Zach from August onwards in the 2022 section of his history. This is a guy that at one stage was expected to start the 2023 season at reserve. The Speedway Stats.co.uk site is quite revealing on players points at different parts of the season, and as we know as play offs do not count in the GSA its an interesting tool for team building.1 point

Not sure they are expected to pay at the NSS. As far as I know they merely have to call up before hand to receive free entry. Some of the ex BV riders are regularly seen at matches, especially Eric Broadbelt. I really enjoyed the PC book especially the early bits about him getting started but he clearly is very down on the people who brought us the best track and stadium in the country which is a pity.1 point

I can see how successful cam will be over a season on press and practice day. If he has more than one chin he will disappoint. he is extremely talented but also lazy. When he knuckled down he was brilliant but he is probably 2-3 stone overweight for a speedway rider. imagine putting a 2stone weight on Doyle’s bike and see the difference that would make on his results !!!! i honestly thought having Doyle in the team would inspire heeps to be more professional but he obviously can’t be bothered to put the effort it. very sad as he could be so much better.1 point

I haven't seen Cam on the golf course with his usual playing partner buddy, or booked into a tee time for months now. Maybe he's been going to the gym instead...1 point

I have no Idea why the original fixture list was voted down.I do think not having weekly fixtures will have an adverse effect on Attendances but hope I’m wrong.Like I said how do some Clubs negotiate their rental will the lack of regular income will it effect their finances. As it was voted through you guess they are OK with it though.1 point

Last year, Birmingham season ticket sales were based on promises of having a team, including "the new Darcy Ward", capable of reaching the play-off's, a team with a genuine #1, and the assumption that riders contracted to the team were available to ride at least all the home fixtures that the season ticket covered. Within days, the #1was off to pastures new, with the blessing of the club, having fulfilled his task of boosting season ticket sales, another rider became injured and ended his season / career, the Darcy Ward pretender proved to be a huge disappointment and Birmingham only had partial access to the rider whose priority lay in the Danish league. Not the kind of legacy of broken promises that inspire people to invest again.1 point

Because BSN is a dedicated platform for Speedway, Eurosport covers some of the most popular sports for an International audience with Speedway being one of their lowest popular. Eurosport are contracted to X amount of meetings including play offs so would never be able to show weekly meetings. Reminds me of reading the numerous facebook speedway pages of "is there a meeting on tv this week" "they had one last week" "not being on weekly isnt good enough" "it was better when sky sports had it" when all they are doing is fitting speedway into their schedule and fulfilling the contract as agreed They are not a dedicated speedway platform1 point

Sadly I don't recall any of those guys you mention, but I do remember most winters there used to be news of some tragedy on the racetracks Down Under in the local paper. Gordon Guasco and Geoff Curtis are ones I particularly recall from the early 70's.1 point
