  1. Would say he's about 85% at the moment no issues on the bike but feels it when the adrenaline stops. As a family we are happy with his recovery so far

  2. The minimum ride rule (three rides, not four) doesn’t apply if a rider is withdrawn through injury, which is presumably the case here. IRR doesn’t apply to reserves. Updates, while a valuable resource, are not an official record of a meeting.

  3. Yes, and we even do have a few more, who are not that far behind Celina. Best of the up-and-coming German speedway ladies after Celina is Hannah Grunwald, and another who is going quite good on a 500cc bike is our Nepalese-born Patricia Erhart. There's about half a dozen of them girls in German speedway racing now, plus several more in the youth competitions.

  4. 100% true sadly our sport looks for the next bright prospect promises so much and fails so often. I don't understand why we don't have under 21 British riders at both reserve positions until they're 20 or 21 regardless of the averages. Also would like to see top three average riders in a team at 1,3,5 and the 4th and fifth at 2 the 4 . Reserves should only ride against each other twice then the oppositions 2 and 4 once as this is where the next step out of reserve is . Having young reserves race against heat leaders is a frankly ridiculous state of affairs.

  5. I paid £60 for the year to watch Discovery+, already I have received my monies worth….. 3 GP’s, and 1 GP2. Plus just today I watched a World Superbikes race, championship bmx racing, and mountain bike down hill championship. Tuesday evening I watched Mondays Wolves v BV match. And there is so much more to come. That’s hard to beat.

  8. This part I agree with most, nothing against the guy, but Sam Masters racing as a number one in the Prem, doubling up in the Champ & racing in Poland, while 5 point Brits can't get a Champ spot doesn't sit well with me! We can't trust the promoter's to use Brits first, so will have to put in rules to ensure they are

  9. Let's hope as he develops that he (and all the other young riders coming through), get looked after with ring fenced team places in the middle tier.. Which should be their key development ground as they organically bridge the gap between 3rd Div and the top league...

  11. They don’t alternate every heat though, heats 7,8,9 & 10 and 13 a team gets a run of the opposite gates to the ones they picked. So thanks to the gate choices it meant Scunny had 1 & 3, 5 times out of 7 heats, at the part of the night when the outside went off and the inside gates worked better. With the exception of heat 11 (where Redcar were on a 5-1 and blew it), every winner / heat advantage from heat 7 to heat 15 came from gate 1 & 3, and gates 2 & 4 did the business heats 1-6.

  13. I agree. Higher ups want Krosno relegated anyway so I wouldn't be surprised if Lublin accepted a pre-meeting bribe to hand Grudziadz a win today. No way can anyone convince me that this crap Grudziadz side can batter the champions from pillow to post out of the blue.

  18. Yes, it's sad to see such a great respect as Harry having such a bad time. He had a big off once in I think a Czech meeting a few years, and had to be nursed back from that. He had a mixed year last year with the Colts with some poor rides in a fairly decent year hence his start average this year. Last year it was Sam that had some 0 meetings and look how well he is flying now. Both seem to be prone to have the odd bad meetings but Harry this year is a different matter. Worky really need to replace him quickly while he takes time to get it back. Worky being such a great investment needs to be winning everything at home and performing well away. A second heat leader getting under 2 points per meeting is not good for their future.

  20. The Elite League fast track format did exactly that. I thought it was the perfect race format. Surely heat leaders racing each other more often, ditto the reserves is good for the fans (closer racing), for the riders (improve more when racing similar standard riders) and the promoter's (high paying heat leaders will naturally score less). I particularly dislike the weakest Champ reserve racing at 6, after heat 2 he meets the 1+2 then 3+4 pairing then most likely dropped from his 4th ride. How can they expect to improve under those circumstances. I certainly much prefer the RS having to race at 7 & not able to be replaced in heat 8 in the Prem, wish they'd at least do the same in the Champ with the lowest averaged reserve.

  21. I hope Harry will rediscover his love for the sport. The Sam Norris crash, a few years back, must have affected both brothers and others close to that age group, although fantastic to see how Sam recovers as time goes by. The spell at Plymouth in CL is a perfect example of how the sport uses young lads not yet ready and then spits them out with shot confidence and dissilusion. Hopefully Harry can regroup stronger

  25. This theory needs challenging. There seems to be a running theme that rider's come here & become worse, rider's leave here & become better. There's something about this club that just isn't working.

  28. Bickley said in his Instagram post that he planned on retiring before last night’s match, but didn’t want to leave Edinburgh without a rider. Doesn’t sound like somebody out for revenge - he could have just not bothered turning up if that’s the case. More likely he had already retired in his mind and was just going through the motions, trying to get the meeting done without any issues.

  34. Superb meeting yesterday at Armadale and all the young lads and lasses put on some great entertainment in the British Youth Championships and i thoroughly enjoyed the 44,000 heats for only a tenner. There were a couple of nasty looking crashes but thankfully everyone was able to walk back to the pits and everyone seemed to improve in confidence as the meeting wore on. The future of British speedway looks bright.

  36. So Oxford has clarified the Dugard situation, stating the following: Cheetahs were hit by the withdrawal of Kelsey Dugard after two rides with a reoccurrence of an arm injury. Looks like both Embleton and Dugard aggravated old injuries and neither should have been replaced in heat 14!

  39. If you talked to riders from the 60's a lot of them struggled when the pudding basin helmets were replaced by open faced helmets that went right round the side and over the ears because they couldn't hear as well! - I still recall seeing a few riders with pudding basin helmets in the early 70;s, when did these get outlawed? Dave Jessup rode one meeting for Mildenhall at Wimbledon in 1988 which was his final one and he was still wearing a monkey mask. I'm not sure if he ever did wear a full faced helmet, the only time may have been when he was sponsored by Briggo in the early 70's? Ray Morton and Scott Swain are two of the last riders I remember who wore open faced helmets. A question! - Are open faced helmets outlawed in present times or not?

  41. Some good speedway today, beaten by the better team who had 3 solid heat leaders. Mechanicals and falls cost the Comets valuable points. Harry continues to struggle with only 6 points from 15 rides to date a bit of a concern. Connor was good value today and rode a brilliant heat 15 before what looked like a mechanical cost him a much deserved win. Elliot was in the wars again and may also have suffered a mechanical for his second big of,f hope he isn't too bad. Great comeback for young Luke Harrison who also had a mechanical when in a scoring position. The skipper won't have been happy, he also had a mechanical in his his first ride when in a scoring position. More seating had been installed on the first bend since last week and it looked great so well done to all concerned. Unfortunate delay when someone took ill in the crowd with 2 races to go and once again on a breezy warm day it was hard work to keep the dust down. Missed Ranting Roy today, never thought I would say that. Well done to the Fen tigers.

  42. That is a real shame, and I would think he will return at some point. He looked so promising as a youngster, and that ability is still within him. He needs to get his head in the right (positive) place, and carry on practising wherever he can, and return to the sport next season, better for it. Only he can do that, nobody else. So good luck Kyle as you try to reinvent yourself. You've got talent, so please don't throw it away, and return in 2024 with a different mindset, you can do it.

  45. When one considers that a certain Rob Godfrey head honcho of the BSPL is part of the Speedway Control Board, EG the SCB, and also holds NORA events at his Scunthorpe track then one can make their own minds up about the farcical nature of this incident! - (I totally respect what Rob Godfrey has done at Scunthorpe opening and maintaining speedway racing in a Town that struggled to run viable speedway in the 70's and 80's but his decisions at SCB and BSPL managerial level are not made with the best interests of speedway at heart) I'm sure if this was taken to a court of law then the Speedway Control Board wouldn't have a leg to stand on if you consider freedom of trade rights. In these days of speedway looking like its long term future in this Country is severely under threat, trying to eliminate an initiative that could lead to more track time for riders and potentially new tracks opening is very counter productive!

  46. Pure spite from little men with a bit of power. How Vatcher can hold his head after flouncing round on IOW when they were in the NL and all the youth training days there then be the spearhead of the attack shows the man he is. Sadly Si Kellow as a new promotor isn't prepared for all the games the mafia board can play and ultimately is going to have his resolve and health tested to the limit. History is repeating with any threat or slightly respectable product being snuffed out.
