I think the point is what is the point in winning the title in tangible benefits? Are BV's crowds significantly up this year, is there blanket media coverage every time they ride? What was the prize money they won? Extra sponsorship gained? They just got a pot in the cupboard and an entry in the history books, which is ok for the likes of a village cricket team... but a professional sports club?9 points

Don't forget you're talking to somebody here who saw his team win the 2019 CL and the club did absolutely nothing with it in the way of marketing it to the general public, let alone their own fans... home fans never even got to see the trophy! And a fan who followed his team in the league and was expected to travel over to KL to watch his team ride in their "home" leg of the pay off final and a fan who followed his club around the country supporting them in their quest to win the Jubilee Trophy (Summer Trophy) and is still waiting for his team to ride in the final of that competition! With all due respect to Guy Nicholls, who I don't know, but I suspect he was a Speedway fan and has pumped money into the club by the way of sponsorship because of that, a Speedway fan that has built a successful business? If there really was a tangible benefit to sponsoring a Speedway club bigger companies than his would be queuing up to sponsor riders & clubs, companies that are not fans of the sport but can see a clear and tangible benefit on sponsorship... unfortunately they're more of a man with skip variety of company and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that and I'm not knocking those who do come forward with sponsorship, there would probably be no Speedway without them. You say it's sport, that's what it's all about... is it? Is it a sport? When the captain of your team is riding for all and sundry and your manager is managing another club and your owner/promoter owns/promotes another club... is that a sport? For it to be a sport it has to have integrity, speedway has absolutely none bar from 4 riders racing 4 laps against each other, it stops as soon as they leave the track.5 points

Loved the play offs, but to win lose or draw wouldnt have bothered me. The racing was great... And is consistently very good all around the country.. You cannot take it seriously though can you? Guest Riders dictating where the titles end up, and who qualifies for the play offs, potentially preventing their own team, their fans, and even themselves from winning anything.. Guest Managers taking charge of another team on nights their own team are riding? And riders being prevented from riding for their own team because they have an injury, but allowed to ride for another team because they haven't.. For those who still take seriously a competion that has all that as part of its operating then fair play,... Like so many others now who attend reasonably frequently, I just enjoy watching the racing and whoever wins, then good luck to them.. As I say, the racing nowadays is as good as anything I have seen served up.3 points

What do you mean “just a pot in the Cupboard”? It’s sport, that’s what it’s all about isn’t it? I’ve already conceded the financial part, as far as I know there’s no financial gain from winning it, but it’s still not “pointless” or “worthless” is it? I don’t understand some of you who downplay winning a league title. Whether it’s football, cricket, tiddlywinks or Speedway, if it’s your club you want to see them successful surely? And I think it IS important as far as sponsorship goes. I remember reading pre-season the thoughts of Chris Louis who said how lucky he was that the club was very well backed by excellent sponsors, but those sponsors want to be associated with a successful club, not failure and he has to deliver for them as well as the fans. Ask Guy Nicholls if Ipswich winning the league is important to him.3 points

No problem with working to a budget but teams in whatever league the management choose need to be competitive, if you cannot afford to be competitive in the Premier league then run in the Championship. I seem to recall Chapman’s King Lynn team did rather well in the Championship past decades.3 points

What I don’t understand is why people are slagging off Buster for having to work to a budget. All successful businesses have to do this. I would rather that he pays what can be afforded and keep speedway going rather than overspend and bankrupt the club (as has been the case in some other clubs).3 points

It's a variation of the premises licence for a maximum of 3 weekend 'events' per annum plus drive-in movies in school holidays. The stadium leaseholders - GI - are NOT looking to run these things themselves, merely hire out the stadium to potential event organisers for a rental fee - similar to and in addition to speedway.2 points

Agree on Rowe and Kemp, but personally I’d have plumped for Conor Bailey next and then Dan after him. Maybe Bailey has been asked but thinks the Championship and NDL is enough for him at the moment who knows. I do think the RS system should be shelved next year though. I understand the reasons for bringing it in to help the youngsters along, but I’m not convinced it adds anything positive to a meeting. Poor old Joe lined up on Monday in one heat against Musielak, King and Kerr and was obviously miles behind. Against Leicester he lined up against Emil, Harris and Sedgmen etc etc. he’s nowhere near that standard and neither are the majority of the others so it can’t be good for morale and confidence when you’re finishing half a lap behind the others. Fans don’t want to see that either. Needs binning.2 points

I'd go with Charles Wright & Scott Nicholls, but I'm pretty sure it'll end up being Tom Brennan & Adam Ellis.2 points

Everyone at Leicester has a soft spot for the twins (having seen them start out as mascots), but getting axed, however unfair it may seem, is unfortunately part and parcel of the sport. The sooner they learn to accept it the better. In view of the lack of opportunities out there, they may have to learn to be tight lipped.2 points

After the effort at the NSS on Monday, i'm thinking we could have a chance of winning this one. Depending if we cover well for Fred, if rumours are true. R/R would be Klindt, TJ and the reserves 31 points from Artem, MPT and Klindt put us close, with Kye 4 from 3 Jason chipping in at reserve, scoring the same as the BV pair. If Klindt and MPT can back up Artem like that tomorrow, then we might then have a decent chance of getting the win. Or am i delusional Your thoughts..1 point

Match preview on the Stars website now. Lynn unchanged from Monday. Having recently moved into the area hoping they get the numbers to guarantee a few more years yet.1 point

I'm coming to this one, we haven't torn up any trees in our last few visits to Lynn so I think a home win is probably on the cards. It should be close though1 point

Ok so maybe its a bit of a laugh - but one of them is averging 4.17 the other 1.85 - so perhaps not such a nonsensical decision after all1 point

Don't see how it was wasted....bit of white marker turns 'a' into 'p' and stick 'on' to the end. Thomas into Thompson is a pretty easy switch Although maybe in the revolving door of speedeay these days the names should be velcro like the numbers.1 point

Is that the same NORA92 that Barry bishops league runs under? If so is this not exactly why Kent have had their License suspended for running a Nora meeting?1 point

I see in today's Bournemouth Echo, plans for more use of the stadium have moved a step closer, hopefully good news for the future of speedway1 point

Agree. Lets hope he will return to the club when the time is right. We could do with more like Alex in speedway, someone with a bit of ambition.1 point

A shame that another newcomer who could have been a breath of fresh air has gone (for now hopefully back) Too long a list over past decade. Forced out Money runs out Main income source affected Disillusion Those and other reasons. I'd imagine anyone running and funding Estate Agencies is in deep mess right now though, economy trashed, mortgage rates rising, cost of living crisis. Going to be a rocky few years for them. Hopefully Alex will be back1 point

Alex Brady is good for British speedway and is needed back but for now let him have his time away to sort out his personal issues. If he comes back for next season which I suspect I can assure you he will make lynn good again. all this laguta on 10k a meeting malarkey is way of the mark. It’s no way near that. And Infact if true what I heard laguta is quite cheap GKM stopping jakobsen riding could be a blessing for you guys if you can find the right person to replace him1 point

You would have someone who is a Stars fan. Who puts his money where his mouth is, and Rob Lyon who has the experience, to guide/ advise him.. Sounds like a good combo.1 point

I'd agree, although there is one Brit with a higher average than Charles in both Prem and Champ - young Scott Nicholls (but guess he'll be commentating)1 point

And the award for the most stupid statement belongs to?? Of course he has what’s required at this level Is he as good as he was … probably not so unlikely to be world champion. He is however in 9th place so of course he is at the level required to be in a GP… he just isn’t a title contender anymore By your ridiculous analysis we should only have 6 or 7 riders in a GP as clearly riders like Dudek, Janowski , and Fricke aren’t up to the required level either1 point

While Luke might be an exciting prospect, what I have seem of him he is far from the finished article and will need to learn to stay on the bike.Too much out of control at times for me.1 point
