Up date on Facebook on Charles Wright. Update on Charles Over the course of the last few of days, Doctors felt Charles had made positive progress in terms of pain management and mobility and allowed him out of hospital to rest and recuperate at our hotel, under the strict instruction not to travel home due to the significance of his injuries and his lung pneumothorax’s. Charles has not been formally discharged as yet and awaits further X-rays and tests tomorrow and if we receive positive news, he should be given a fit to fly. It could of course go the opposite way but we’ll cross that bridge should we come to it. Although Charles can walk unaided for a short distance, he is predominantly getting about by wheelchair. Today we will make it back to where this journey began to watch the final at Sparta Wrocław - it will be momentous occasion for them and for us as a family. Hopefully everything is moving in a positive direction and with everything crossed we hope to get the long awaited discharge papers and we can plan the next stage of the journey in coming home! As always, thank you to everyone for their unwavering support in all realms. Leanne4 points

Bit strange but doesnt really matter as Redcar had no chance in this group after they lost Wright.4 points

So after finally catching up on most of the weeks events it’s quite apparent that this will go down to the wire with Brandon Estates and the council along with the SCS group really showing how evidence is cross examined and my word a few of the guys had a tough time. I have seen comments about when will the state of the stadium come up but as it’s a planning issue being looked at and in the councils opening statement i don’t think it actually matters in the context of this hearing however in the broader evidence that will no doubt be looked at by the lady appointed by the Secretary of State it’s quite clear and I’m sure has been seen many times the woeful neglect of the stadium will be clear to see. Phil Morris was absolutely brilliant and after the hard time Neil Allen was given I was fearing the worst but then after seeing it when the tables are turned it’s clear to see that anybody being cross examined gets equally a grilling and water is sipped at quite a rate. The surprise from the SCS group was that the lack of action plan when Mr Hunter was asked as such but then as mentioned with no access to the stadium and the condescending way it asked about structural engineering backgrounds etc. But B.E don’t have much to go on so anything is going to be tried to give them any kind of advantage. Mr Eady spent most of his time in the cross examination so far back you couldn’t hear him or so close it was hurting my ears listening. When he was asked questions most of it was “if that’s what he said” or ask someone else further down the line. His back up for viability was sketchy at best and again it’s all centred around speedways viability and not the fact stox is the main money earner is totally irrelevant to B.E funny enough. Not knowing how many riders in a team, not knowing about Oxford and the best bit was trying to fluff his way through the Swindon question. The 3G pitch saga nearly sent me to sleep on many occasions but funny enough considering the way Brandon Estates speak about it and how it’s so good for the local area, well it obviously wasn’t on at least the first 2 plans they submitted as it’s not included it’s only when that box needed ticking that they decided to do anything so it’s clear they’d never in a million years have bothered unless that had too so they have no thought still for the community only making millions of pounds. Looking at the latest plan, the football pitch is on the left hand side of the site as you enter from rugby road but at the back of the houses already lived in. So these houses will potentially have 7 day a week noise from football pitch, floodlights and car noise right at the bottom of their back gardens. Nice touch ! I hope the guy from Bradford is able to make it and also Matt Ford, it will really need people with some presence in the cross examinations as the guy for Brandon Estates will be as annoying as he was this week. Phil Morris gave him as much as he got and as much as the legal teams try to be pedantic the facts are the facts and being strong and confident during cross examination is all important. No doubt Mr Osbourne will have some obscure reasoning behind the Swindon venture but hopefully the SCS and especially the Council legal team will be as good as they were this week. The man for the council I think is especially good and he will need to be the same next week as the closing statements will hold be massively important in trying to get the appeal to hold up our way.4 points

As always, the devil is in the detail. He scored 5 from effectively two rides last time out. Last season of the three meetings there, he scored 13 and 9 twice, one of those meetings featured two retirements. So whilst you’re correct, three retirements and a harsh exclusion in his last few visits there shows he hasn’t had the best of luck. There’s no guarantees he won’t have poor luck tomorrow either! That’s the nature of the sport. But I think 10 from him is a decent pitch as long as he’s fit.3 points

Surely they can refuse. Bailey is British. British fixtures come first. Just say no to them.3 points

Why do you think they have introduced playoffs into most sports? It's to "keep the interest", and to give "everybody a chance". It never used to be that way, and I was perfectly okay with that. As a professional sportsman myself, I was quite happy to see the best player/team win, even if it did mean the title was actually wrapped up before the end. You can see by the comments on here, how people dreaded the thought of Zmarzlik winning the title before the last GP. Why? He's the best, and he deserves it. What is so wrong with that? Can't people just enjoy the racing?3 points

If a team has to forfeit because of the weather we should all just pack up & go home that just can't happen I'm sorry ..the sport will be beyond ridiculous & frankly many fans would not go back & I might be one of them as what's the point in all that money spent hours dedicated to following a team ...no matter what it can't be allowed to happen to any team3 points

Here are some comments that might be relevant to this discussion. 1. In considering a rider I believe the factors Edinburgh would take into account are: Quality, Cost, Availability. Nationality would not be considered. 2. Danny Phillips and Greg Blair were mentioned as possible alternatives to Dayle Wood. Meaning no disrespect, I would back Dayle to beat either of them currently at Armadale. 3. In my opinion we have not tried hard enough to replace Dayle and we have done him no favours by asking him to step into that role before he is ready. He is a good, entertaining NDL standard rider who has improved over the season. 4. HOWEVER it is not easy to find a really good replacement. We tried right up to the signing cutoff to bring Luke Killeen into our 1-7 but he preferred to remain a guest only. I think he was mistaken and has therefore had fewer bookings than he might have had. 5. Anyone else we might have asked, such as Sam Hagon, Max Perry or Max James, may or may not have wanted the job but possibly might have cost quite a bit, ridden better but not scored much more, and would be very unlikely to become an Edinburgh rider. Geography is always a problem for us.3 points

Because they extended the League deadline, there are less dates to run the play-offs, especially with six teams in them and FOUR of them running on a Friday. Spot on. Too many blank weeks and then the usual end of season clamber to get the fixtures in. I think next season should be better organised fixture wise, with 14 or so teams in one league (not sure how many will drop to NDL and how many will run in the whatever it's called "one league"). ________________00000000000_____________ Six teams in the play-offs, especially with a nine-team league, is IMO, ludicrous. Top Four - Semi Final and Final - would have been quite sufficient, but they are going after the £££, without putting any real thought into it (as usual).3 points

OK, he wouldn't have been injured (but could quite easily have riding for Redcar) but, he wouldn't have been able to ride anyway because he would have been banned worldwide for 28 days.3 points

Spooner injured so that rules him out. Simpson has a full time job so wouldn’t be able to do it. Dayle the only option from the academy. He was originally a stop gap for the changes we made till we got a better 2 pointer in. Tried several different riders from up and down the country. Got answers from just a simple no don’t want a spot, to wanting too much money, too far to travel, doesn’t fit into their schedule. A couple then went on to ride for different championship clubs in the end. Dayle knows himself he’s not ready for the championship and so do the club but we kind of got stuck with him due to no availability of young Brits. Too many think they’re big time now when in reality they’re not.3 points

Let's be clear. It was absolutely right that Lambert was aloud to ride last season. It is absolutely right that Lambert can guest for Sheffield this season. Both teams lost a huge rider. Both teams gained a huge rider. The rules are rubbish, will the BSPL ever learn. Sheffield fans may finally stop there moaning and whinging, but I doubt it lol.3 points

He's 16 and very inexperienced. We've all seen some surprising results from the lad, and some zeroes as well. Let's give him a chance to show if he's really any good or not, eh?2 points

Lambert is fine at Monmore, he's talented, unlike, ahem, some throttle bashers from up the M6.2 points

So it’s all down to Glasgow v Oxford on Tuesday. A ten point lead is not enough imo and Glasgow with their powerhouse top 5 will prove too strong against a battling Oxford team. I am hoping for Oxford in the final as it’s a track up the road and we can have a big Pirate contingent, but a ten lead is small.2 points

Disagree, the final has been spoilt by injuries but its better than being spoilt by a ringer.2 points

I've said for the last seven years that stopping BE building on Brandon will be the "easy" bit. Getting it back of their hands is going to be the toughest task, given they appear to have no intention whatsoever of selling it.2 points

The Jubilee Trophy final is scheduled for 2037. This years' league playoff final is pencilled in for 2048* *weather permitting2 points

I think Glasgow have been proved right now in their view that it “wasn’t going to happen”. I think the fairest result would be to give the trophy to Glasgow. Oh, wait. There probably isn’t even a trophy!2 points

Firstly, congratulations to Scunthorpe As for us….. I don’t think I have ever endured such a frustrating season. Unlike some, I felt we had a good young team that were ripe to kick on this year but our wheels came off at Berwick when Josh crashed out. Without our leader and showman extraordinaire we were sunk that early. They are a bunch of nice guys but personality doesn’t win meetings. I am a great believer that a winning team has to have great reserves. Josh is the only one I would keep (supposing he wants to come back?) but as always happens, the others will probably come back to bite us. Speedway eh?2 points

Surely if a team loses points based on weather cancellation, that can be challenged legally, season has until end of October to be completed, I would be extremely angry to lose out because of rain, West of Scotland and Manchester get more than their fair share of rain throughout the year2 points
-
Totally agree, with the closure of Monmore I'm thinking I might give up on it now but if the weather decides results it's one Mickey Mouse decision too far for me2 points

You do have to feel some sympathy for Redcar - forced to track an even weaker side v Oxford. Lets hope for a Grand Final between the 2 Southern Wednesday tracks for maximum attendance for both clubs!2 points

So if both Edinburgh fixtures (home and away) are rained off will there be a virtual super heat to decide on the aggregate point(s)? Just asking.........2 points
-
Not quite the same though. The Cradley group had nothing to do with the loss of the heathens track or stadium so have nothing to gain financially at present( if ever) whereas the One in Swindon were as you know directly responsible for the demise of the Robins and are actively trying there best to do scupper any chance of a Coventry revival Greedy scumbags .2 points

Appreciate that and know it’s generally true, but I’m sure he rode the outside in his last 2 rides and did he not take Kemp from the outside in 14? Can’t recall (someone watching back can maybe correct me). If so, just highlights the inconsistency!!2 points

Can I ask what was the thinking giving Archie heat 15 last night?2 points

Sounds like a great idea, let’s publicly out any rider that refuses to sign for us. I’m sure the rider we end up with will feel brilliant knowing he was 3rd/4th choice. Muppet Dayle isn’t the issue… yes he’s not CL level but the way the team was built at the start of the season is the issue. We were loyal to riders that showed signs of improving but have let us down. We have had a horrific season with injuries and Cook’s has had his personal issues but it’s still no excuse for how poor we’ve been at home. Big changes needed for next season, possibly only Lasse / Paco back.2 points

Track preparation has never been consistently good since Alan Bridgett retired and the quality of racing has deteriorated, irrespective of home team performances. Occassionally we get good racing on what appears to be a well prepared circuit, but sadly that is the exception to the norm. IMO excuses about poor weather or shale are not credible, given that our near neighbours now provide a good racing strip @ Ashfield nearly every time, under similar climate & material constraints.2 points

What a joke and a slap in the face for all the Redcar fans that have followed their team this season! Why Redcar accepted this Sunday date is beyond me!2 points

If I had any thoughts of purchasing the stream, they’ve gone now looking at that line up.2 points

We have to win both matches, so until at least one has taken place, both are equally important. Thursday is out for the Oxford match (Sam Masters), so Friday would be an option. Redcar can't host on Saturday. Sunday is October...1 point

What I don't quite understand re the Swindon situation is that the Promoters Licence is currently 'on ice'! Recent photography confirms the track at Blunsdon is still there, new grandstands are erected and the extra noise protection fencing appears in place. If Matt Ford is that keen on getting involved at Coventry, why wouldn't he be interested in going in at Swindon(as was the plan at some point in the past) - aside from the size of the rental and the fact he'd have the same landlord (Gaming International) as at Poole, it would be much closer and could attract some Poole fans, whether or not Poole Stadium has a longer lifetime?1 point

Agree with the comments. The way the team was built and being too loyal to riders. Kye had a good meeting last night, credit to him, but he’s not progressed to be a heat leader this season, as was the hope. That, and having R/R or poor guests for Cook, left us with only one heat leader who, as exciting and hard working as he is, is not a reliable number 1. As well as carrying Wood as a passenger, Lasse as a passenger whenever returning from an injury, and Borke on all tracks apart from Berwick and Glasgow. Personally, I’d have Picko back next season, if we could get a more reliable number 1 (e.g. Masters). Other than that, maybe Paco, but can someone please explain how that is the same rider in his first 2 heats and then second 2 heats. Literally goes from Dayle Wood to prime Ryan Fisher. Unreal but frustrating! Although maybe next season is when Paco does sign for Birmingham!!1 point

Surely if the NDLRC is a bspa protected event, very few or no other meetings should be rearranged especially one at Oxford on a 3rd off day of running meetings1 point
