  1. Now read that out aloud in one breath.

  2. …….or conversely, the Premiership contains too many Championship riders…..which is why IT got watered down making the two leagues too close. Doubling up made it the farce that it is.

  3. Is Friday night a protected CL night for Lincolnshire teams only?

  4. We couldn't fit Ben and Bomber in and I think Ben will be aiming higher than the Championship, Connor is a no-brainer for a return. But in a watered-down league, it will be difficult to get two big hitters in looks like one big hitter Four second strings, and Two reserves. Teams should be built to 42,14 heats x 3 it's not rocket science well it is for some. Agree about admission watered-down product on track should mean watered-down admission.

  5. Contains the grand total of 0 Leicester riders . I mean I'm not having a go at you but it's a nonsense really isn't it? Extra meeting and a Disney medal no doubt but it's ridiculous to call it "the final"

  6. Exactly, then where are the many unlucky kids who don't get a rising star place gonna learn to get better if no more NDL !!! Once again lack of forward thinking by the bspa

  9. I think Egon made so much money on the Continent with little of the hassle that came with British speedway, it wasn't worth it for him . And then he had the side show of his singing career and concerts. Which he usually put on as part of the long track weekend as well . Where it was and to some extent still is a weekend event with people camping out at the track

  10. He made it clear he had no intentions of leaving Scunthorpe for another Championship club, its purely a decision to try and further his career by taking on extra challenges in Poland and Sweden etc.. Thanks Ryan for everything you have done for Scunthorpe Speedway over the past 10 years. All the best for the future and hope to see you back at Scunthorpe in the future as you will always be welcome back.

  11. 6 man teams with greater riders for me = better product

  12. For me the core product is very good, it is just the nonsense rules that prevent the actual leagues from ever being taken seriously... How the hell can anyone take seriously Peterborough's Bomber helping Ipswich to beat Belle Vue in the Semi, and then helping Sheffield beat Ipswich in the Final? You simply cannot market that.... Less riders per team would mean more riders to replace injured ones, so guests could be eradicated if the will was there .. A fit for purpose RR facility would also mean no need for guests... Development should be the 2nd Divs priority not Div 1, and clear demarcation within the leagues should always exist so the top league can be marketed as "Elite"... Every sport needs a "flagship" league that sells the sport with the other leagues feeding off it.. National generic marketing has to be the biggest opportunity. Huge amounts are spent on riders, very few of which bring a big crowd in, yet very, very little is spent on marketeers who may be able to put some bums on seats... Being able to take league racing seriously first though is needed before any money is spent hiring any marketing companies...

  14. Wiggy probably made more money on L/track riding in Europe on grasstrack as well ,think the same can be said for Kelvin Tatum a bad injury early on plus racing L/track effected his S/way career but not his bank balance I suspect .

  15. Not our fault that the rule makers couldn’t run a pi$$ up in a brewery. But it is clear the champions get preferential treatment.

  16. Emil started the season at no5 so rode with a rising star in heat 4 at the start of the season. Bewley moved to no 5 at end of season

  17. Spot on. The intentions behind the lower limit might be good - clearer divide between the 2 leagues, more 'amateur', whatever - but it'll all be undone if they end up paying 2024 second strings a heatleaders wage in 2025.

  23. Surely it is up to the Promoters to vote agaist points limit coming down for 2024. Just look at this season with 40pts limit how many riders started the season on the sidelines Dan Thompson, Kemp, Bailey, Clegg, Wethers etc.

  25. I didn't, so here goes... Rune Sormander, Alf Jonsson, and Peter Smith never met the 10-match minimum. 8.78 - Per Olof Soderman 8.46 - Bjorn Knutson 8.31 - Soren Sjosten 7.47 - Dan Forsberg 6.38 - Birger Forsberg

  27. I had mixed feelings when the move to the championship was announced yesterday , I have enjoyed this year with these young lads we have had in our team and think they may be lost to the sport If there is no Third League of some description. i must admit I did not have any interest in the “ third division” when Workington were in the championship back in 2018 but there seems to be a real camaraderie with the boys this season that does not always exist with some teams . I hope many of this years team can be in next years line up , this would mean a weaker championship but maybe that is a good thing. One thing I do know Is the promotion at Northside have put a lot of work in to making this season a success , so well done to Andrew Bain , Steve Lawson and the many people behind the scenes who work tirelessly every week.

  30. Poznan were last of 8 in Div 1 in 2023 and relegated when i posted that on August 28th. Subsequently Landshut realised they could’t comply with the new requirements the Polish league authorities had placed on Div 1 teams so reluctantly agreed to return to Div 2. This left Div 1 shorthanded( Poznan and Landshut going and only Rzeszow replacing them) so Poznan were offered the place back which because of the need to finance the installing of floodlights they couldn’t give an answer straightaway and have only just confirmed last week they are good to go in Div 1 and i have posted their recent signings in the Div 1 thread.

  35. No, Monarchs have seniority over everyone else for Friday nights, and to be correct its North Lincolnshire, with Lincolnshire being an entirely different county and Boston Barracudas long gone.

  36. Not sure that'll be the case in 2024 with the rumoured points limit. There should be plenty of riders around and only a certain number of team/squad places available in Poland!

  37. Dag Lovaas. He was so good but seemed to just lose interest and retired at the end of 1976. He was almost unbeatable in the wet. If he'd been in the 1977 World Final he might well have won it with conditions how they were.

  38. My third visit to Workington this season and I just love the place . Track has to be the widest in the country and its great news they are moving up . As for yesterday , a bit of a Sunday afternoon stroll in the sun for Connor Bailey , winning races by half a lap at times . But an enjoyable meeting nevertheless . Can't wait to watch Bomber blast round the outside of those bends next season

  39. Brilliant news yesterday . The Northside track is fantastic , got to be the widest in the country . Can just see Bomber blasting round the outside of those bends . That track deserves to be at a higher level , roll on 2024

  40. Poole have a good record at restructuring teams when necessary. I suspect that whatever the points limit they will prove more astute than their rivals at putting together a septet under the new points limit whatever it is.

  41. It was quite clear at the start of the season the fixtures that were included in the package you subscribed too.You can purchase any other you want to watch separately. Nothing to talk about really.

  42. Out on the very same limb as they were in 1970 to 1981 and 1999 to 2018......during both of those periods I recall very much of seeing a great many away followers at Derwent Park....then enjoying a pint with many post meeting. Workington is not on Mars ok.???

  43. Bailey as a reserve? In the championship? I hope you are joking because he currently rides in the championship and I think you should go have a look at his average

  44. Bailey as a reserve / second string at the very best. That’s about it. Championship heat leader Bailey is not!

  47. I have nothing against NDL racing and have, in the past, frequently championed the third tier. As a regular at places like Isle of Wight, Mildenhall, Belle Vue and Scunthorpe over the years, I have seen - and often greatly appreciated - the NDL. The new Workington track is superb and a great credit to Andrew Bain and Steve Lawson. The NDLRC should be the showpiece event of the year with all the league's top riders taking part. By my calculation, there are just 4 of the top 16 that should be there, and Belle Vue and Oxford are sending riders who aren't even in the teams top 5. That's not good enough.
    1 point
  48. Agree. Not totally sure how bad the track is but this is becoming a habit as far as Leicester are concerned and it is about time that the BSPL and management of clubs got together and stopped the farcical situation of finals taking place in October. Most clubs have enough blank dates in the summer months and it is about time that a crack down took place not least on the cancellation on a whim which seems to be catching. Years back riders raced notwithstanding and got on with it, now you have whimps and those in charge need to get real about the sport that they are involved in and do whatever it takes to get a meeting on.
