Think you're talking a little twaddle yourself, £31 to tenerife? Maybe from a southern airport if you book pretty far in advance. This is what draws people into cheap holidays. Flights in 3 months time are £100 from Manchester. 3/4 days parking at Manchester airport alone would be at least £90, then you pay for seat reservations, baggage and £50 round trip in fuel at least. Likely £200 at least before you even get to tenerife. I'm not bothered where they host it could be on the moon for all I care, but surely it doesn't make an Einstein to work this out? Surely the topic can be moved on now. It might not be cheap but they can host where they want, but if it stops chilidsh promoters walking out then so be it.1 point

Can somebody please answer my original question. I started this thread as a serious post but all ive heard is talk of hob knobs and the price of flights to tenerife. All i wont to know is when is the agm1 point

That's just the biggest load of rubbish. Tenerife is not cheap. Prices in November in the Canaries are also much dearer than in summer and certainly much more expensive than in the UK. That's just plain fact. And the reported thousand quid per head for 3 days equates to about £2k per head per week - that's far from cheap. In any case, there's no need for it to be in Tenerife. It's ridiculous. If they want to have a holiday jolly then go with their wives and families same as everybody else. They should be business-like and focus on the matters in hand, not having a holiday jolly. It's Mickey Mouse and unprofessional. They haven't a clue how to be professional or how to conduct themselves.1 point

It's simply doesn't have to be in Tenerife. It's ridiculous. They expect riders to be professional and committed. Not treat it as recreational and indulge. It's double standards. They punish such as Boxall and R Worrall while on the job, then they indulge themselves in a holiday jolly when they should be concentrating on the job in hand. If they were professional and business-like, if they had a clue how to conduct themselves, they would have the meeting within a suitable business-like environment. They haven't a clue.1 point

New Pictures of the work at Abbey Stadium show the new stand being built and the pit arches So we have the Pit arches but no Speedway to use the pits Oh I forgot Speedway is unviable, yet Swindon's closest neighbours are rumoured to be entering 2 senior teams in 2024, someone somewhere is telling porkies and it's not difficult to guess who .1 point

Always getting it. The guy is as smug as they come, He encouraged everyone to chuck the towel in instead of putting up a fight to save the club.1 point

Buster, still getting it after Mick Bratley, who is about as close to this as you can get to the situation, posted this below...1 point

Sad to see Tobi go. I would imagine that all of the clubs that will be competing in the Premiership next season will be looking and sounding him out for a team spot next season. Top rider and Top bloke.1 point

CVS said ages ago the shale was piled up on the car park and he'd got an agreement that the speedway equipment can be stored on site for up to 12 months1 point

Perhaps it's been postponed and will now take place at the end of next year.....1 point

The last speedway book I read was Tai’s and to put it bluntly it was rubbish. Nobody should be releasing a book mid-career. If Jason Crump, Tony Rickardsson or one of the top names from the sport of the last 20-30 years (now retired) fancies writing an autobiography they can take my money.1 point

You been to the Shateau (as seen on TV), that's where they should have held the conference!1 point

Can't believe they've dropped Tobi for any of these lot... Hope they finish bottom next year1 point

I'd take him in a heart beat. At the least, Lynn need to win all their home meetings, to have a chance of the play offs. But i can't see us doing that without a proper No.1. If we don't hit the ground running, i can see the crowds dwindling even more. We saw it last season. Unless the Stars can attract some good sponsorship, who is going to pay decent wages to attract the decent riders. The crowds ain't big enough on there own unfortunately.1 point

What boils my pi$$ is why wait so long before having these conferences? Why can’t the conference be done 24 hours after the final meeting of the season? Does someone say “nah we’ll wait for 3 weeks until mid November sometime”? Poland as usual, professional, done and dusted and clubs completing their line ups for 2024!1 point

Just realised I’d put my thoughts for the Ipswich team in the Belle Vue section…..I do apologise1 point

Those going on about the cost need to get some perspective in the scheme of what it takes to put team together for a season That £1k price being quoted is probably about the equivalent of 1 ride in 1 meeting to cover the likes of Emil Doyle Bewley Holder etc... Even lower down its likely not even the cost of 1 meeting for a Championship heat leader It really is irrelevant in the big picture1 point

The Stadium,s that they have owned /leased over the years were/are Bristol, Reading, Milton Keynes, Swindon, Poole, no alternative sites were found for any of those that were closed, I do believe that they had something to do with Hereford Utd FC at one time but not now, as for Torquay Utd FC I would be worried very worried as to where they are headed whilst Osborn is in control, or put another way no Team or Club has flourished under the guidance of Osborn or his companies.1 point

What was dismal about it other than 2 disappointing meetings at the end of the season? One trophy won; finished Top of the League and reported increased attendances! I wonder how many other clubs had 'dismal' seasons?1 point

I am glad somebody has said this. People give him stick for not spending money but in the same breath slag other promotions off for spending above their means. I understand there’s a lot of disapproval towards Rob Godfrey (some of which is justified) but he has the interests of Scunthorpe Speedway at heart. Scunthorpe is not a club that can compete financially with the likes of Belle Vue or Sheffield for example, that’s quite apparent. So would be foolish to try. Whether the club decide to make the move up or not, I can’t imagine Rob would do it and risk losing out financially. It’s a business decision and has to be treated that way to ensure the sustainability of the club. Why then people criticise this is beyond me. I am still personally undecided what is for the best but I’m sure the clubs interests are the priority and if that involves saving a few quid then what’s the problem?1 point

Sheffield booked the tiny No1 room with no sea view for £200 per night but at the last minute we're allowed to switch to the Robert Lambert penthouse suite (amazing reassessed at just £175 per night)1 point

I’m told from a reliable source he’s offered a considerable sum if a suitable site is found. Not sure we should be mocking him for that to be honest.1 point
