  1. It is irrelevant where the AGM is held. some folk seem to be of the opinion that the money they pay to attend meetings is somehow being wasted on an AGM instead of investing it on tracks/riders or any other similar direct aspect of a meeting. In reality, the promoters are investing their time and money in attending the AGM to discuss their business interests - if, in future years anybody on this forum wishes to influence where the AGM is held - they should buy a speedway team/promoters license and after running their chosen venue for a season or two they might welcome spending a little more of their cash to spend three days enjoying a bit of winter sun with fellow promoters finalising plans for the following season. Meanwhile, lets hope the outcome of this AGM provides 2024 with some entertaining/exciting meetings beneficial to both spectator and promoter alike.

  3. How much did it cost? Could they have held it in a "Legion" somewhere for free? Some looked like they spent a few quid on clobber too... No wonder the sport is struggling when ex riders would prefer to spend money on dressing up, going for a meal and drinking in a hotel etc etc..

  4. Surely "we're" is refering to British Speedway in this case? If British Speedway is running one, two or three leagues? Then Oxford can decide which league to enter? Plus it says if we're running one two or three leagues, not of we're competing in one, two or three leagues.

  6. What is the point of this post? If the riders are known then list them. If you don't want to list them because you're leaving it to the club to do, then why dangle the (meaningless) carrot.

  7. You don't NEED to do all of those things if you're on a budget, though. Take any seat you're allocated, don't check a bag (it's only three days) and ask someone to drop you off (or take a bus). It's up to the individual what they want to pay. Regardless, my point is some people are making it out to be significantly more expensive than it is. I'm not claiming it's cheaper than holding it in the UK, but the cost of Tenerife is in the hundreds not the thousands. The environmental issue should be a bigger focus than the financial issue.

  10. So long as the team is competitive, free of druggies and fixtures are completed within a reasonable time frame, I think most Lions supporters would settle for that

  11. It’s unsustainable. Oxford have obviously done well on their return to the sport but sadly the answer to everything these days seems to be over exposure, as they’ll find if they do decide to run three leagues. People would have to pick and choose their meetings and then it’s likely all three teams would run at a loss. It’s certainly not worth jeopardising an entire track just on the off chance it makes it easier for a handful of riders to reach a league that is already unsustainable.

  12. Do the fans have enough money to attend 2/3 meetings a week? Seems abit much really. They could do a special type of season ticket so fans could attend all the meetings at a reduced price. Even as a die hard lions fan I dont have the time or money to cope with more than 1 a week

  16. Wouldn’t have TJ back. Fresh blood is needed. I’d take Patryk W at No.6 if he’s available. His assessed average is only 0.01 more than TJ,s from memory. He beat JD twice in his short stint last season I think?. Once dialled in I think he’d do very well around the AFA, and deffo up that assessed 5.00 imho.

  17. So is 2024 completely written off then?...I am appalled with Buster Chapmans antics over the course of this season and how he has let this happen..I still feel in different hands things could have been different.

  22. Wasn't in a riding order, that's for Rob Lyon to sort out I like the fact that suggested teams contain very few riders who have appeared for Lynn before. A good clear out and fresh start is what's needed.

  24. That'd be Mick Bratley with no official position who is trying to save the club as well as helping to organise, and attending, the Save Peterborough Speedway rally on Saturday Nov 18. One assumes that Buster will be there to offer his support and also address the fans who've filled his coffers during his tenure. The AEPG shackles are off now so he can explain what he's been playing at throughout 2023.

  34. Wow, you must be truly deluded then or have never flown from an airport. Would love to see your breakdown of costs. It's also a real misconception that flying to a Poland GP is cheaper overall, because of the same said 'hidden' costs of budget airlines, airport parking/extras, distance to airport, hotels at airport etc. Poland has very much caught up with hotel prices. It's okay googling flights or using Skyscanner, what is your cost before getting to said destination. If you can get from Workington to Tenerife for under £250 you are a miracle worker, would be more like £350, then similar priced hotels on top at least £200 (i've looked these are the cheapest). 2 nights in Coventry Premier Inn is less than £200. Sick of replying with the same FACTS now, I'm struggling to understand how you don't get how it works?

  37. It's simply doesn't have to be in Tenerife. It's ridiculous. They expect riders to be professional and committed. Not treat it as recreational and indulge. It's double standards. They punish such as Boxall and R Worrall while on the job, then they indulge themselves in a holiday jolly when they should be concentrating on the job in hand. If they were professional and business-like, if they had a clue how to conduct themselves, they would have the meeting within a suitable business-like environment. They haven't a clue.

  40. The last speedway book I read was Tai’s and to put it bluntly it was rubbish. Nobody should be releasing a book mid-career. If Jason Crump, Tony Rickardsson or one of the top names from the sport of the last 20-30 years (now retired) fancies writing an autobiography they can take my money.

  41. No. Basically the 5 teams from last year's Premiership but with Birmingham hopefully moving up from the Championship. Still a possibility of Oxford joining the Premiership, (as well as Championship), but personally I would be surprised if they do

  42. Where do you get that Belle vue's team is about the biggest budget i have no idea what riders are paid. But i do know about other/last years team it is about loyalty and good long term signings. Kurtz has been with us for 3 seasons having put a point on his average since we signed him. Bewley has never ridden for any other Prem league club having started with us in the Colts team in 2016 on a 3 point average in the National league and only missing the 2022 season. Lidsey has never ridden for any other Prem league club starting with us in 2019 on a 4 point average finishing the season with a 5.15 average .Then signing again last year on a 5.15 average and finishing with an average of 7.82.Wright has been with us for the last 3 seasons and has been a very good number 4.(Sadly lost to averages next season) Brennan has been with the club for the last 3 seasons starting off as a rising star and ending this season with a 6+ average.(sadly lost him next year due to averages) Has never ridden for another Prem league club. Blodorn has been with us for the last 2 seasons starting off as a very young ass 4 point average and ending this season with a 5.83 average has never rode for another Prem league club. So from the above i see a team that is built on loyalty and wanting to ride for the club. Other loyal riders Cook 7 seasons starting on a 3,88 ave in 2011 Fricke 6 seasons starting on a 4.84 ave in 2015 Zagar 5 seasons S Worrell 6 seasons So in my opinion far from a buy success team yes we have made some big signings but in most case's the club have signed potential and if its paid off and have stuck with them for years.

  43. Regardless of how "vibrant" or not you find Manchester, it's hardly practical for British fans to have a week long SON there. The Friday/Saturday night is fair enough, but who's taking a week off work to spend it in Manchester?

  46. Now we are reduced to abusing mechanics! We weren’t all made to be super models! No need for it in my humble opinion! Steve’s mechanic Neil is vastly experienced and does a good job! I know that for the Glasgow v Poole final he left home in Swindon at circa 8 in the morning drove to Glasgow via Cleethorpes, spannered at meeting then done the reverse trip getting home circa 8-30 Saturday morning! Then had bikes to clean and prep for the 2nd leg. He gets paid that is true and no disrespect to Steve it wasn’t for 24 hours with 16 of those at time and a half!! How many of us would be able or willing to do that? This topic is supposed to be about Ritchie Worrall, so please keep it on track!

  47. What was dismal about it other than 2 disappointing meetings at the end of the season? One trophy won; finished Top of the League and reported increased attendances! I wonder how many other clubs had 'dismal' seasons?

  48. Claus averaged 6.19 away from home in league matches this year, 7.23 including bonus points (riding with Basso). Don't understand why he's not in Glasgow's plans on a 6.24 average when over the league season he averaged 7.07, 8.00 included bonus points

  49. I've never killed anyone whilst driving a train, a car, a motor bike and hope I never do,nor seriously injure someone. The impact must affect anyone with a conscience who does. The incident at Edinburgh when Craig's bike injured a photographer will have affected him deeply. He was totally blameless. Mental illness is silent, it is terrible and not to be underestimated or laughed at. Craig is many things but for gods sake let's cut him some slack and let him try to rebuild his career his confidence and his self esteem.
