  1. Anyone who says they wouldn't swap out a perfectly pleasant, 26-year-old, reserve journeyman, for an 18-year-old, next-big-thing, exciting talent, is either lying or foolish.

  4. I'd be more worried by those numbers if it was his 2nd or 3rd season, but as it is it's his first visit to many of the away tracks

  5. Any other Peterborough/Speedway fans from around the late 80s early 90s think looking at this picture of Tate Zischke , see Mick Poole's hair coupled with the face of either Nigel Sadler or perhaps Rod Colqhoun , uncanny or what !!! https://britishspeedway.co.uk/rowe-motor-oil-premiership/aces-move-for-zischke/

  6. Again you have used common sense which goes against any sort of reality that the bspl work on. The argument in 2023 was that clubs that had NDL leagues couldn't get the track times required to run the additional meetings. 2024 excuse had something to do with lack of unicorn horns or pixie dust. What will be the excuse for 2025 be. Glasgow have invested in television advertising which I've spotted on sky sports a couple of times but what use is it when we have 2 home meetings in and 8 week period, it's absolute nonsense. For the teams that don't make the playoffs this year, there will a 7 month period of absolutely nothing.

  10. That’s good news because if the sport loses one of its flagship teams it could be the beginning of the end I hope the pirates have many more years to come.

  11. How much do you need? Owner of the club makes no effort to try and save the club. Ritchie Hawkins has done more in the fight to save Peterborough than club owner Buster Chapman which basically tells you everything that you need to know.

  13. Which is why I don't understand the hosts being seeded to the final. Losing out on a second big crowd. Even if the hosts don't make the final (not likely) there'd still be a good crowd.

  15. Very many good riders worked and raced in the 80s 90s and early 2000s.So wouldn't be too bad for the sides who sadly don't have the infrastructure to compete hence the reason averages are dropped every year to keep them competitive

  18. When Buster went on the mic at Peterborough and told the fans NOT to protest or object to AEPG was for most fans seemed he sided with AEPG. So the question gets asked why? People will assume / come to there own conclusions whether correctly or not.

  20. Gordon Pairman in last weeks SS did a very informative Q and A, and suggested all the legal threats were basically not worth the words... And bemoaned the fact that instead of allowing the IOW and others to possibly develop riders, the BSP did their utmost to try and stop them.. But, to be fair, he always seemed to come across as someone with common sense...

  21. You have to turn left at all tracks and if your fully conversant with scunny it's shaped Like a D so on the back straight your wheel are never in line. To me it was a hard but fair race until rider looks at you as he comes under you and runs you up to the fence . Then starts throwing punches after and is fined by the ref . No hard feelings on our part but the big Baldy bloke and the Weasley mechanic need to look at themselves

  24. And play offs are won on aggregate... The Aces have had some close calls this year at home so a big win delivers a much greater chance of qualification... Riding against the opposition reserves several times a night will certainly help him...

  28. When I look at a rider I like to look at the riders average. On the surface for a first season 6:96 is pretty impressive. But if you break his average down he is averaging 9:38 at home, and 4:71 away. That is big difference in those averages from home and away, and that would be my big concern if I was an Aces fan. But the Workington track appears to be very much like the National Stadium, so he should be okay at home, but away it might be a different matter. Will be interesting to see if he is the right man to replace Mountain.

  30. Not enough has been said about how rubbishe the track was. Yes it was a blistering day but for a track to be that overwatered in Ht1 and a race-line 2cms from the air fence after one heat needs to be questioned. Vaculik in the Instagram Live said the track is very different from an Ekstraliga meeting and no advantage being a "home rider". Hancock even with his Monster/FIM love in said that the track is better in Ekstraliga and reading between the lines even in his conservative state was critical of the track. Can imagine that the SoN at Manchester will be slicker than a strippers bikini line.

  32. A brand new Pirates Promotional video set to drop on Monday, 1st July (just in time for the summer holidays)!! The teaser makes for great viewing should there be any future doubts about how popular speedway and the Pirates are in Poole and surrounding areas! The full version tomorrow should be excellent to spread the word further, especially if its needed in the future for any reason....................!

  33. One of the main reasons has been to protect the Premiership and its TV deal by creating demarcation between the two leagues i.e. diluting the CL. This year there are more big name riders than for a long number of years but there was a time just before and after Covid that some of the PL teams were just Championship riders.

  35. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/WnXfjR5pbNnRp5a7/ Just watched the race on Facebook, didn't see too much wrong from anyone really, was a good hard race and a bit of passion shown by everybody after the heat doesn't do any harm either.

  36. I just watched replay, Madsen had a white helmet colour on at the start and he was on gate 3. He was late getting his bike out of the pits box. Well behind the others, eating into his 2 minutes. Problem started there maybe? What though? Shame because he and his bike were “tuned in” at that stage of the meeting.

  37. Guessing you live in a mud hut and have no access to tv? Any meeting I’ve watched at BV doesn’t matter if you’re first out the traps, you’re under attack until the chequered flag

  38. Exactly. Tate is a much better rider than Connor, I mean that in the most respectable way. Tate is destined for the top and anyone with a speedway brain can see that.

  41. Just seen some of those comments and they are laughable but typical of the Facebook crowd. I.e the type of people who’ve never heard of Tate or even Workington. Connor Mountain is a run of the mill 5 point Championship rider at 26 years old and they’ve just signed an 18 year old who’s already achieved a higher average than Connor ever has, who cares about nationality. Top level professional sport should be cut throat and I applaud the BV promotion for the change.

  44. Allegedly it was only GLA and Poole who voted against lowering the points limit to 38. It will rise next year as it has to, as many lower and middle order riders from last season will have upped their averages due to the overall lower standard of rider this year. So it'll largely be the same calibre of rider next year under the illusion of an increased points limit. Twice home and away would be much better, we can still run against the other Friday clubs on our alternate night.

  45. Just seen the video of the heat in question, Luke riding like you’d expect a rider in front to ride. Defending his position from a rider behind fair and square. As for fredriksson well that was just plain dirty. The look over the shoulder knowing exactly what he was doing, I’m all for hard racing but come on.

  46. Which is followed by 3 home meetings then another 3 week break. Think I'd rather we ran all our fixtures and the season finished in July or early August when the weather is at its best than drag out this nonsense and suffer rain offs, slick tracks and poor racing in Sep/Oct. There is also freezing your nuts off for 2 hours on the terracing, not that the customer experience is ever a factor.

  47. Average meeting by Ashfield standards, and now onto another 3 week break before the next home meeting. You can understand why people may get out the habit with the lack of continuity.

  50. I think you are getting yourself in a twist here. Why does she have to be near the same standard as Championship middle order riders, when she was employed at reserve ? Aren't there a good few riders that have been in teams for years that aren't going to be middle order riders, or at least not in the first of second season ? Some struggle a bit at first. I don't even think Celina has struggled too much before she started picking up points.
