How about Poole running an NDL team in 2025? Or will they continue their policy of plucking young riders from the NDL whenever it suits them, despite making no contribution to the league themselves, effectively sponging off the efforts of others?5 points
-
This thread has mainly got Lynn fans on it who will actually be attending to see their team ride for the final time this year. It's got nothing to do with play offs or finishing order for us. And come to think of it very little to do with you either.5 points

I expect Brady has various priorities including helping Rybnik to a league title and qualifying for the GPs. He’s bust a gut helping BV to the play offs and their expected failure in the semis against Sheffield is no reflection on him. I doubt there’s another BV rider who has done more for the Aces than he has this year but his discomfort was plain to see after last Monday’s home meeting.4 points

Possibly the case. It's the same with Leicester dropping Drew Kemp for Cookie. Leicester team only fitted into the averages at the start of the season with Drew's 25% reduction from last season (from being a fast track rider). He was then replaced on his full average (which the Leicester team would be illegal at the start of the season). This therefore isn't helping fast track riders.4 points

farcial for the sake of waiting 2 days to get the correct semi-finals !!3 points

King hasn't stepped up once when needed. That's what most expect. Sick and tired of saying it, but once again he goes missing. Now we have no chance on Thursday and that will affect the gate, so it's hitting the purse strings.3 points
-
And after they asked the question... They all looked at each other, and then all fell about laughing on the floor holding their sides... Like the Martians used to do in those Smash adverts...😁3 points

So. It is going to be Sheffield v Ipswich and Leicester v Belle Vue in the play offs... Well done Sheffield on finishing top... Can't wait... It will be brilliant...2 points
-
Well done King's Lynn, confirms the farce of the play off choices. Some good racing for Lynn.2 points
-
Very close so far... KL could throw a spanner into Leicester's chances of finishing top...2 points

Has Kelvin mentioned how important tonights result is on who finishes top?2 points

King is no longer at this level.... he needs to stick to the championship and take Hawkins with him.2 points

So different to last year then when Sheffield lost first Holder, then his replacement Woffinden before the KO Cup Final, followed by losing Musielak for the play offs ? Injuries are part of speedway. Yes Ipswich have been unlucky this season, but the fact still remains that Doyle announced his season was over in June. We all know you couldn't find an equal replacement, but surely bringing in a slightly lesser rider amd integrating him into the team would have been better than bumbling along for most of the season with guests and R/R ?2 points

Some slag the Lynn track off... But from what i have seen on TV lately, there's been a lot worse.2 points

You have forgotten the price increase because it’s the play-offs- or maybe the punters don’t get told that until they arrive lol2 points

Which racenight would you prefer? Mondays or Thursdays? Poole are staying Championship in 2025 as announced at Sundays Lawson Contract signing, so who will replace Brummies if the Perry Barr greyhounds move away - as has been stated?! Maybe Oxford will run 2 teams in the Premiership.......................!!🤣2 points

Avin one right now after a successful weekend and I raise a toast to Mr Lawson for signing his 2025 contract ! Good lad is our Richard 👍2 points

Tigers have accepted the 11th September, if its them?! Worky not yet accepted it!! Maybe If it is to be Worky, they will want home first to get a reasonable gate!!!2 points

Good luck to Leicester in the final. Be great to see them defeat Sheffield.2 points

My thoughts are... Sheffield are currently top and should be playing 4th place Ipswich in the pay off semi-finals 😕2 points

Danny King is basically Ippo's version of Casemiro at this point.1 point

Jesus what do people expect from King? Lidsey and Brennan score 13 between them and Doyle and Emil let’s say got 20 and it’s a 6 point loss and everyone would have been happy King isn’t a heat leader at this level and he wasn’t signed to be one he was signed to get 7 or 8 a meeting along with Ellis so is anyone going to have pop at Ellis as well …. And reserves do beat higher ranked riders especially at home …. Jenkins beat Bewley the other week and Dan T has beat Janowski and also Harris this season to name but two1 point

Mike bv Ive been following speedway for fourty years. Its 1 vs 4 and 2vs 3. The point is the regular season hasnt finished yet1 point

Really? He said that? Fair play if he did, very similar operationally... In fact, the NFL must look over here at the BSP with envy burning into their cornea's... FFS..... Who is doing the "interval shows" at the Finals? Taylor Swift? Beyonce? (Fill your own reply in)..1 point

You don't know anymore than anybody else on here but you think you do and get a little h**d on and it makes you think your in the know.1 point

So, it seems it's the Leicester rolling start lions 😁 Hope the other playoff teams are watching!1 point

We’ve been over this time and time again. They tried every top rider in Speedway and nobody suitable was available. Rather than jump in and sign someone who they weren’t particularly happy with, they went with guests in the hope someone became available right up to the cut off. As we know, that didn’t happen. It is what it is.1 point

Annual cost of license is about £140 now, that is ACU/SCB, but it is travelling and machinery costs are very expensive, the deeper your pockets the better your rider will be, because you are looking at parents who either have available time and financial resources to take the rider wherever possible and not have to worry about working arrangements, it’s not easy for parents to say travel to tracks Mondays and Thursday or other days to have a skid after a meeting, also providing the rider gets on (depending upon curfew etc), additionally the amount of tracks having practice sessions is limited compared to years ago and one might not be local so extra travelling at weekends is necessary. So people say if you are committed you do it, but if you don’t have necessary funds it’s difficult1 point

It can't be any worse than the absolure garbage dished up last week.1 point

The other week, the other GB manager was debating with Kelvin on Eurosport whether a rider who had just been excluded for falling might "go off 15 metres" in the rerun...1 point
-
Same comments attributed to Chris on the Sheffield website just refer to Chris as a heat leader so I’d say it’s a mistake on the SGB website calling him the captain1 point

Bloody good advert that ,back then the adverts and speedway seemed better lol1 point

Pirates simply want a home fixture ASAP as other clubs play catch-up with their rearrangements in League, Cup and BSN.(Poole's last home fixture Weds 21st August - next one Weds 11/09/2024 earliest) Seems like those clubs that get their fixtures done (and won) by the cut-off are the ones that are penalised!! Just saying..........!1 point

Makes sense for worky to have 1st leg, hoping to get a good crowd for what will be more than likely the final meeting for 2024. Unless Poole collapse1 point

Strangely looking at this thread people still think it's a credible meeting that might matter. Whilst they still exist,, nothing will ever change.1 point

Could be written any week from April for any meeting.....1 point

I think you giving Bates too much credit, he has never struck me as being that bright, that coupled with Stead who surely should have known the rules.1 point
-
I agree, it doesn't really matter anyway, somebody dreamt this outcome up and suggested it and I want to know who... because they should be stripped of their promoters licence! Why would Ippo agree to it? Why would anybody agree to it? It's like a game of Cluedo... it was Bates, in the Panarama Room, with a Brown Envelope.1 point

Hey Baldy don't bring wrestling down to the level of this farce lol1 point
-
Oh yeah, I forgot, it's Sheffield therefore they must be deliberately cheating. 😴1 point
-
Just go back to who ever finishes top of the league is the League Champions and cut all this nonsense of play offs out. Play offs are simply a commercial decision in any event. This is just an extension of that. Presumably any one of the 4 clubs could have said they were not in agreement and the rules should be followed, but they didn't1 point
-
Also to add, doesn’t this make kings Lynn vs Leicester on Monday pointless, therefore we lose a live meeting of the cup final for a nothing match now. Even worse than before.1 point

I might of posted this before but my first and only encounter with Roman was at Sheffield, I was at no7 I think for Oxford ? in as a guest and it was at the start of my career,I remember him staring at me over the pits, I was a nobody but I guess at that point he doesn’t know that,he just sees me a new threat,he just kept looking which was intimidating as I knew exactly who he was and his reputation, think it was in my second ride I was off gate one and him off gate 2, as soon as the tapes went up he just turned left putting me on the grass, I guess looking back he was just stamping his mark on me so as not to go near him not that I was at that level, when I heard of his mysterious death I imagined in my head that he was in some sort of fight on his own against 300 men in some foreign war and giving a good account of himself too, certainly a character and not too bad on a bike either1 point
-
That doesn't matter to me. It looks like he was signed only for the play offs with him missing the league match, hence me changing my opinion on the signing.1 point
