Just a thought - Have you considered boycotting the BSF as an alternative. I'm sure if you refrained from posting it will bring thd FIM to its knees.8 points

Can’t really have the same banter with the Lions fans as you sort of feel please for them being in the final whilst at the same time wanting to beat them. If it was say Poole, Coventry, Wolves or Sheffield you can have ago about them cheating or the fact their track is gate’n’go. Say gate’n’go to a Lions fan and they agree with you. Maybe we could both set up a re enactment society and recreate the 1971 Battle of Hyde Rd during the interval. I’m playing Wilkie. I hope the weather issues can be overcome and we get a decent 2nd leg and not just a going through the motions event, that would be a disservice to both teams. Fingers crossed with the track and that everyone has a safe meeting. Very civilised.4 points

Certainly won’t have a shortage of interested party’s if that is the case,Godfrey would be mad not to include him in Scunny Team guaranteed to increase his average the way he is improving. Some great racing from him.3 points

He may make the GPs at some point but these young poles can suddenly find it more difficult when they are too old for the protected reserve berth. People would have said similar about Smektała, Drabik, Miśkowiak, cierniak, while these riders still have plenty of time on their side none of them look like GP riders at this moment in time. I think there has only ever been 4 riders that have gone on to win the world championship after winning the under 21's.2 points

i was 11 yrs old stood on entrance to third bend saw it all unfold, very exciting.🤣, never would have thought at the time i would go on to win 2 Alan Wilkinson trophy's in 2nd half's at Elsmere port. think 80 and 81.2 points

Indeed.... The days when it truly "meant something"... And teams had riders who became synonymous with that team... Reg Wilson - Sheffield Ray Wilson - Leicester Terry Betts - Kings Lynn Eric Boocock - Halifax.. And many, many more.. One rider - One Team...2 points

I’d like to see a new rule which allows the referee to have a no blame rerun where a incident on the track is a 50/50 then both riders can be put in the rerun unlike now when a rider must be excluded. also every premiership team to run in the NDL with their rising star leading the team.2 points

And how many seasons have they been in the top division? Seeing the videos of Leicester being flooded in the news, track prob not be ready for Monday?2 points

Can't see it being below 38, personally I think there is an argument for an increase.2 points

I think it's unlikely he rides again this season imo, the fact he's booked an assessment tells you it wasn't a mild concussion, I'm sure he's desperate to get back but just don't think it's worth the risk.2 points

Didn't you cancel a meeting because of a leaky pipe? Leicester never done that 😂😂😂2 points

The bikes are less forgiving these days and you have such a small optimal useable range that outside that range the bike is uncompetitive and it’s reading things like that you think well why don’t we make the engines like we had before where it was competitive without a limited range, well the answer is because the sport is run by the riders for the riders via the tuners and it’s quite the little cartel they have going and turkeys don’t vote for Xmas2 points

Not so sure about that, Hagon has been an unmitigated disaster signing, the only reason the fans haven't been on his back is that he was no better or worse than JT, he started off steadily but since the end of July has barely been able to score a single point. Personally I'd be looking at Luke Kileen, I like what I've seen of him2 points

Same here, I was 11 and a veteran having spent 5 years being at Hyde Rd every Saturday, never seen anything like what happened that night, before or since. Wilkie was absolutely livid and you just knew he wasn't going to let Cowland get back into the pits. It's still one of my abiding childhood memories even though I've forgotten so much and can't recall what I did yesterday. https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-this-was-the-scene-at-belle-vue-after-an-amazing-flare-up-in-the-aces-83754512.html RIP Wilkie.1 point

I don't think it was a case of the poles over riding, it was a case of Banbor losing control and taking out Krawczyk who was racing on the normal Krawczyk line. Its sad because he is a real racer and I was hoping he might make the podium tonight. Certainly diminishes Wroclaws chances.1 point

I said at the start of the season this situation would happen, there have should have been some kind of average retention policy brought in for retaining the new batch of 2.00 riders. It would only apply to new 2.00 riders retained at the same club for the following season. A 15% cut would reward clubs for developing said rider and reward the rider with another team spot for making progess in the sport, not penalising for doing well! Luke's 4.43 would become 3.77, which can become alot more inviting for team building purposes. Whether things like this are even discussed are another matter.1 point

Just a reminder - 1971, the last time the league title was fought out between these clubs. Next week and it was back to Hyde Road for the Aces against the Leicester Lions. Leicester were good that year and were running Belle Vue close at the top of the league. They had England's top rider in Ray Wilson and were a real threat. Ivan Mauger was away in Poland with Barry Briggs preparing for the World Pairs at Rybnik, so Belle vue drafted in the experienced Ronnie Moore as a guest. The match was tight and tense, with never more than four points between the teams, and going into heat twelve the Aces held a slender two point lead. The next race turned things Leicester's way as reserve Ken Eyre came in for the poorly performing Belle Vue captain Tommy Roper, and Ronnie Moore failed to finish. Leicester heat leaders John Boulger and Graham Plant took a 5-1 to put the Lions in front. The tension steadily increased in the build up to heat thirteen. Belle Vue Aces had not been beaten at home since 14th September 1968. I had never seen them lose (other than over two legs of the Knock-Out Cup Final). Defeat was unthinkable. As the riders took the start Belle Vue's highest scoring rider of the night Dave Hemus broke the tapes and was excluded. The tension racked up another notch. Young reserve Alan Wilkinson took his place alongside Soren Sjosten, but they were up against Leicester skipper Wilson and the experienced Alan Cowland. Belle Vue needed a 4-2 just to draw, and a 5-1 to win. This was going to be tough. As Sjosten lead, Wilkinson was last, and in a do or die effort to pass Cowland round the outside he crashed in the pits bend safety fence. The race was stopped "in the interests of safety", and Alan Wilkinson excluded as the cause of the stoppage. Enraged, and clearly feeling that Cowland had pushed him out towards the fence and the point of no return, Wilkinson grabbed the Leicester man as he rode back to the pits. Before anyone knew what was happening fists were flying, speedway riders were hitting other speedway riders, mechanics were hitting other mechanics, and some spectators not wanting to be left out jumped over the fence and started hitting anyone that wasn't already being hit by someone else. The Champions Book of Speedway Number Three has a Wright Wood photo of Wilkie being held back by Leicester's Malcolm Brown while Ray Wilson wrestles Alan Cowland away. At the same time Graham Plant applies a smart left jab to someone's chin. Speedway prides itself on its all-inclusive family atmosphere. That night the speedway family all got included in a right old punch up. Needless to say it was rather distressing. We'd all gone that night, Mum, Dad, Helen and me. Not only that but we'd decided to watch from the standing area near the pits, right where the melee took place. I was shaking. I just had enough grip of my green biro to write "2 mins" against the remaining three riders' names. Such was the delay in getting the heat completed the referee excluded everyone. Things calmed down and the second half was completed as normal. Alan Wilkinson fell off in his heat, and Alan Cowland finished last in his. Maybe they'd had enough excitement for one night. As long as Stewart Dickson is in charge of team building & management young Cairns will have nothing to worry about in terms of nepotism being the reason he rides for the Lions.1 point

The SGP should feature the best riders in the world. Looking at the 2024 riders, Emil & Laguta are comfortably better than half of the field. On that basis they should be competing in the SGP but politics will have a say on that matter. Non qualifying riders for next season’s series will be decided by the sport’s powers that be and not dictated by public opinion. If either or both of them are selected for next season’s GP, league racing in the UK is hardly a priority, which would be totally understandable.1 point

Any truth in the rumour that both Poole and Oxford have called in track expert Starman to offer his priceless pearls of wisdom for both October 5 and October 9.1 point

What a shambles calling off with a perfect forecast and hoping that October will be better.1 point

I know what you mean... Yet he's a multiple GP winner currently with a 9 point + average in the UK and number 6 in the overall averages. As somebody else eluded to, when he's good he's very good and occasionally when he's bad he's very bad.1 point

I’ve never tried one but the bottom tube is like a square tube design so I would imagine it makes the bike drive more but and this is my opinion only it makes the bike very unpredictable on less than perfect tracks.3 riders who use them are lambert, Doyle and lindgren who are all very fast this year but have randomly had moments where the bike has just taken off in the middle of the corner but I suppose if I they feel it works 90% of the time it’s worth the risk in their mind, traction control is banned in speedway so they are trying to sort of create it with frame modifications, I know zmarzlik has brought a lot of them but isn’t using them at moment and well he is world champion so do they work ?1 point
