Very difficult to quantify one’s feelings at a time like this.Somehow we wish we could turn the clock back and stop it happening, then somehow convince ourselves that it won’t happen again, but at the same time secretly knowing that it always will. However long we follow the sport the pain we all suffer when this sort of thing happens never gets any easier to deal with. Motor cycling in all its different forms is a very special sport. I wouldn’t swap my time on bikes for the world, but it is so sad to lose young men this way.5 points

People still go on about the Under 21 meeting and how good the racing was, hard to imagine that was in 2013. The track prep that night was different with the tractors doing figure of 8's to bring the dirt back, plus track staff had rakes them days to also help bring the dirt back from the fence.4 points

Most clubs have 2 ambulances, Plymouth is close to the hospital a&e department, no excuse should be compulsory if anyone can afford it Poole can.3 points

I can't imagine that Lahti or any other riders not based here for that matter have any interest in riding in the UK at the moment.3 points

Personally I think its mainly down to rider skill or lack of. The best meeting I ever seen at Shielfield was the round of the U21 World Final a few years back. I think as Fromafar eludes to alot of the modern day riders are as quick as each other when in front but couldnt pass wind behind.3 points

I've witnessed riders who struggle to deal with dirt but look comfortable when tracks are slick. I would imagine the best gaters prefer slick as such conditions appear to make it harder to overtake. In my opinion too grippy a track isn't great while sometimes slicker conditions can produce good racing . Tracks prepared with enough dirt to produce a good outside line along with adequate moisture level to prevent a track becoming too slick seems to produce better racing in my subjective view. Consistent tracks, prepared with the sole aim of facilitating entertaining racing should be the ultimate aim because fans pay their money to be entertained.3 points

Should have made it top 2 non GP riders.. One night each.. Keep more riders interested as they go into the semi final...3 points

Another Schroecker potentially! I also think Middlo probably gaffed with the TS though going one race too early.2 points

I was almost about to compliment Schroeck till I saw he replaced McDiarmid with Killeen in heat 12. McDiarmid had just got a 5-1 in heat 11 & scored 9+1 from 4 rides, beating Starke, Marson (2), Lawson, Cook & Kerr. While Killeen had scored 3+1 from 3 rides beating Starke & Marson (2). Was Schroeck trying to throw it away? Luckily for him Oxford still won.2 points

you can't put a price on someones life or serious injury no matter the distance to the hospital just to save money !!!2 points

I agree. You get a fully-equipped private ambulance, complete with paramedic, for much less. Presumably even in Dorset!2 points
-
Either way,it's wrong to gamble on only one ambulance, if it gets awarded I would imagine the knock on effect will cost Poole alot more than a grand. Even little ole Plymouth has 2 ambulances!! Should be compulsory imo.2 points

Meeting likely to be abandoned if 2nd ambulance has not reached the track by 9.30pm! Result to be awarded if so.2 points
-
With Poole always portraying themselves are the ultimate professionals you would have thought they would have two ambulances at the track like several 'smaller' clubs do. Hope Gilkes is ok.2 points
-
Surely Poole can afford a second ambulance/paramedic like the majority of clubs in the Championship2 points

Regardless of what format you use over an extended period ( 10 GP'S ) unless there is a consistent run of bad luck the cream will always float to the top !2 points

I don't think anyone from Lynn has blamed the track for the defeat, if anything it helped us get a very respectable score considering Ipswich's power this year. But those who paid for an afternoon's racing and got a blue groove are perfectly entitled to criticise from a VFM point of view. It's unusual for Foxhall and there were obviously meteorological reasons for it so hopefully lessons will have been learned. Telling people to deal with it doesn't really help anyone going forward.2 points

I’d imagine if he wanted to come he would be over here right now. He used to ride here regular. But not for many years now.2 points

Promoters want home wins as that keeps their crowds... Entertainment is very much a secondary (if that high), factor...2 points

The main factor at Glasgow looks like the shape and width. It will always be difficult at Shielfield to replicate this2 points

Most of the meetings I've seen live this year have been processional mostly. But then maybe the same could be said in previous campaigns when tracks had more material. Glasgow seem to have it right with the track prep and the riders who are willing to race.2 points

See the Monks Motor cycle rally being advertised again for that weekend Can the 2 bodies not work together when no speedway on to arrange this Plenty free speedway weekends Absolute chaos in the car park as they take over most of that area1 point

It's hard to fathom what goes through Schorecks head. McDiarmid was on fire wheras Killeen beat Marson and Stark. He gave McDiamid only five rides,. The same as Killeen. The man has no idea. It's every meeting he has a shocker. As you said. they won, but surely it's time for Courtney and co to get rid. He even had a go back at fans for a decision he made the other week. The man is a buffoon!1 point

Any Poole supporters wish they'd stayed at home and watched a team they don't support get knocked out in the SF of the Champions League ?1 point

I agree the disjointed fixture list doesn’t help regarding regular attending.Even though there are less Teams they really need to plan it more regularly (ie fortnightly at least)This 4-5 week break in the middle of summer (for some teams)is killing the sport.Enthusiasm is waning for a lot of fans, especially is the Team is struggling and they drift away with the irregular fixture list IMO.1 point

A relative has told me he can watch the Grand Prix's on his telly. So it is all round to his house for an enjoyable evening. Thanks for you tips, though.1 point

Think the riders know when somebody decent gets in front on slick track no point in thrashing your engine just wait for next race.(excluding Bomber)1 point

And you know this how? Was it from the same source that told you a 2024 Ipswich rider was “guesting” for Kings Lynn in this fixture?1 point

Purchased the week of the release and still have it. Worn out. Listen to it on Spotify regularly, along with CRIME, even in the quietest moments and Breakfast in America. Saw them in 74 on the Crime tour at Oxford.1 point

Exactly what I do, always a highlight seeing what he has to say and how he delivers it. Tolley, and Rogers, are everything that is wrong with Birmingham. Fair enough, Tolley has kept the club going, but they are both clueless when it comes to Speedway. Anyone could see that when the team was built it wasn't going to be any match for Ipswich, Sheffield, BV, Leicester and probably KL. Exactly the same with Oxford, you could see that as seven riders together that was a poor team and the problem there is Schroeck. That said, between Schroeck and Tolley I reckon they could take charge of Lublin and even with their current team make them bottom of the league. If it meant the Bees could come back and Tolley was in charge with Schroeck as TM I'd rather we stayed shut.1 point

It's a shame, but Ashton had this shutting off when things got close a lot last season as well. Obviously he and his team know the problem, and must be trying to fix it. But as i posted back in October, if he can't fix it himself, a sports psychologist might be worth a try. In his last home meeting, he won 2 races, and was buzzing going back to the pits. But he did run 2 lasts... He also was at the Young Stars meeting last week, so i think he still loves the sport, but is a young man very frustrated with himself at times. The longer this goes on, the harder it's going to be to overcome it. I don't like to drop a young local lad, but maybe stepping down from the Prem, and doing the Champ and NDL might help him re gain his confidence.1 point
-
very sad for all riders involved, these lads do it because they love it, and understand the risks involved, but it is always the family and friends that suffer the most. but they have to respect their reasons for doing it. sad day for all bikers when things like this happen.1 point

Less likely teams will gamble on a young aussie kid if they know that after a year they will leave to a higher paying club. I suppose riders will start signing muliti year contracts and be loaned out like football.1 point
