Yep thought you would miss the point, nothing wrong with belle vue track and yes it probably is the best track in the uk even though I would argue Workington is better but nobody went to Cardiff for the track or the racing ,they went for the event, for the whole experience, the day out, the p**s up, call it whatever you want and it attracted speedway folk who hasn’t been in years because of the buzz about the day and the crowd dropped off because the organisers rested in their past success instead of trying to improve it and it got stale, it needed a new Cardiff not belle vue. I’m sure the racing will be great tonight and tomorrow but that’s not going to attract me or 85%of the 1000s who went to Cardiff to go or any of the randem non speedway folk who went because of the buzz of the event ,the GP is an event, it’s a celebration, it’s a days entertainment, the speedway is secondary, 19,000 went last year and now we down to 6500 and it hasn’t even sold out9 points

Forget Cardiff that’s for drinking,Manchester for speedway.7 points

Having worked in the hospitality industry for 25 years it never ceases to amaze me how on the big day, when everyone should be on point. British speedway always manages to shoot themselves in the foot…. Every bloody time. forget the stupid, flash banners and just get the bare basics right….. it’s not rocket science. if you can’t do the basics to cater for your paying clients in the 21st century. Step aside or pay someone professional to do it for you.6 points

And as quick as the meeting finished discovery end the broadcast and show some documentary about some car racing, they are the promoters, they own the whole show and have the tv channels to promote the sport and nothing, it’s time we got discovery out of speedway they are useless5 points

But due to the silly scoring system. You had Fricke score 12pts and Lambert 7pts from their 5 rides. After the LCQ Fricke ends up with 8pts Lambert 11pts!! So you had one rider have a fantastic night. Has one bad ride and another ride has an average night ends up getting 5 pts more than guy who was far better on the night!! Stupid scoring system. What was wrong with the system where every point counted ?5 points

Excluding the Scottish Cup, and the Poole match (because the publication deadline was probably before that match), Leon scored (including bonus points) 24 points from 9 rides. That's an average of 10.67. Also, this thread, wow.4 points

Great speedway! Best gp of the year by far. Shame about the organisation with ticket/catering issues as I mentioned before the event. Thought lessons would have been learnt from SON. Well done Bewley 👏3 points

The actually racing was phenomenal, everything else was an utter car crash. From queues to get in, duplicate tickets, tickets for seats that didn’t exist, ridiculous long lines for food and drink, if you joined it on a track grade you’d miss a full section of the meeting and be back for the next track grade.3 points

Neither Kurtz bewley or zmarzlik put a foot wrong in that final and apart from position none of them can improve on that, that was 3 riders at their absolute peak and was a joy to watch3 points

Yes. I was thinking the same thing. How many times have they cut to show a single rider when there's a good race going on that you're trying to follow?3 points

Absolutely love this track, but the organisation here tonight is absolutely garbage.People being shut out for a few races, people in our seats saying there seats don't exist so sit anywhere. No information where to get programmes,no sound on bends 3 and 4,can't hear a fu@£ing thing. My daughter spoke to Mark Lemon saying its a shambles and he said it totally is and he is fuming.3 points

90,000 crazy speedway fans from all over Europe created the atmosphere. 6000 senior citizens doesn't quite do it, does it?3 points

Oh don't worry Dean i I did get your point, so you thought wrong. As i said the Manchester GP has nothing to do with Cardiff not being here anymore. 20k people stopped going to Cardiff, the bars are all still there so they stopped going due to the racing, the cost or possibly both. You say you expect the racing will probably be great the next 2 days, and your partner and son are going but that wont attract you, well maybe you just simply don't like speedway anymore, which is OK of course. The speedway maybe be secondary for you but it isn't for me, and the 20k who stopped going to Cardiff.3 points

Lots of things wrong with Speedway, a GP at Belle Vue isn't one of them. What's it a backward step from, this is a new GP, this was happening regardless of Cardiff. The fact we were only getting 19k at Cardiff has nothing to do with a GP now happening at the best UK track.3 points

Do not want to get involved in the squabbling but Leon Flint has been around a while now and seems unable to get set-up rights far too often. Personally think he has reached his level 3rd Heatleader/ second string in Championship.Dont think he has the backing to do the amount of meetings he is trying to fit in. Track is the same for everybody.3 points

The points scoring system has got to review for next season, it is making mockery of the Sport. Its meant to be to decide a World Champion. another example tonight Freddie scores 7! And finishes with 14.Max scores 12 and finishes with 8. Perhaps at the end of the season the Top7 for next season should be the points scored in the actual meeting and not the Finals. Eliminates one anomaly. only Speedway can come up with this scoring system.2 points

I really do wish that the wider sporting community could see races like that and appreciate that it is not always those who make the gate win. Well done to all four riders.2 points

I was always taught that the shortest route was the quickest. So, how come Dan rode about 6 miles further than Holder there, and won???2 points

Cannot knock the racing, and it is far more challenging for all than many GPs. Well done BelleVue2 points

Thank God. The damage that dump has been allowed to do to British Speedway is unforgivable and will take years to fix. Thankfully the healing starts now while the Cardiff sycophants cry into their dinners.2 points

Latest update copied and pasted from Facebook, Hopefully not breaking any rules etc Wightlink Warriors PR 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Wightlink Warriors plan to stage 2025 Speedway Season After careful consideration, and with the support of our fans and sponsors shown so far, it has given the management of the Wightlink Warriors more confidence to announce their intention to stage a 7 meeting season of speedway between July and September taking place at Smallbrook Stadium. The season plan is to stage 4 team speedway meetings to include the Vince Mapley Memorial, and the Steve Piper Memorial meetings, plus the popular Best Pairs as well as our British Championships to include Women, J.A.P, Upright and the 500cc. We will race on a Tuesday in 2025 allowing access to a greater number of riders as this is a quiet fixture night in the UK. In addition, we hope to stage the British GT140 providing we can find a date in their busy schedule. With the good news of the decision to plan fixtures for the short season, there are still some hurdles to overcome. Firstly, the club needs additional volunteers to enable us to man all the stations on race day. Please let us know If you think anyone would be interested to help. Some of these positions give you the best seat in the stadium to watch the action. Secondly, whilst the offers of sponsorship have been really encouraging, we would still welcome a few more to enable us to fulfil the season’s racing. Finally, getting the message out and more people through the door, We plan to use leaflets and banners this season as these have produced the best results in previous years so, if you know of an area to deliver, Campsites, Hotels etc who will allow advertising, and you can take or deliver them please get in touch. The club is looking for someone to enable us to make better use of Facebook and to help distribute the message across the many Community Facebook groups as Islanders are best placed to have the best insight. Wightlink Warriors promoter Martin Widman added, “Barry and I had a fantastic meeting this afternoon where we both undertook to deliver a season of speedway on the Isle of Wight. We have already overcome some big challenges and we feel that with the backing of our sponsors, and fans along with agreements with riders, we can provide a great season. We are delighted that we are much closer than two weeks ago to securing the season for our Club, and we are so very grateful for all the offers of support. We hope that we have planned an attractive programme of speedway events to showcase Speedway on the Island and will now start talking to riders and clubs about the season.” The management would like to thank everyone in anticipation of their support both financial and physical, which will help us achieve a short but action packed programme.2 points

Good luck to the promoters tonight and tomorrow. I hope it is the success that everyone is hoping it will be. The stadium is no Principality stadium but if the racing is as good as the British Final - final race then that is what people remember and hopefully want to attend in the future. Most importantly, I hope the weather plays ball since they can't rely on the roof they had in Cardiff.2 points

Really good meeting with lots of action. Flint really impressed for the visitors. I’m no jack holder fan but fair play to him for riding heat 15 and the superheat considering he has a gp tomorrow. another superb crowd royally entertained.2 points

I've watched the BSN coverage of this meeting and must say it was very worthwhile as you get a different perspective and learn things that you don't see or hear from watching at the stadium. A few examples: Leon Flint and his bike were caked in wet shale after his first two rides. There was what appeared to be the equivalent of at least two bucketloads in a heap next to his bike in the pits. Ironically, this thread was started by shaleshifter! Leon Flint used the same set-up as his last meeting at Ashfield when he scored a 15 point maximum. Despite this, his bike felt flat and things weren't helped by the amount of shale caking him and his bike. He changed bike for his 3rd and 4th ride and it felt more comfortable to ride. Leon Flint was clearly gutted. Other Glasgow riders also had issues. This isn't a criticism of the track staff but if you remember there were some heavy showers that week. i've also been catching up with the Speedway Star who continue to provide accurate Calculated Match Averages (CMA) which include Championship, BSN Series and Knock-out Cup matches. As at 6 June 2025 Leon Flint's average was 8.00 with a Home average of 10.67 and Away average of 6.80. Dan Thompson's CMA was 10.00; Chris Harris 9.21 and Kyle Howarth 8.97. Just thought this would be of interest compared to some of the other posts that have appeared.2 points
