  1. Excellent piece in the Speedway Star about the Brum closure... Nigel Tolley has put in two thirds of a million during his tenure... An incredible amount and he deserves great thanks from everyone who were able to keep attending... Crowds of 500 were the main issue and he said it costs £12-13k a match to run a home meeting... And then had the away costs in top! He said that having more UK based riders was vital for the sport, given the cost of flights, hotels, etc... Exactly what's been written in the letters pages of the Star for about three decades, and on here for 15 years or so...!!! If only promoters had realised that...! BZ wanted £7.5k a meeting so didn't get signed... A good interview with Brian Buck too, another who deserves great thanks for playing a huge part in the resurrection of the sport in Birmingham.. Another excellent publication this week from the Star team...

  2. 5 Heats gone and pathetic from the away side they're going to finish in the League Table were they deserve to be. Worrall and Kennedy absolutely woeful. Lambert embarrassing but nothing new there. Time to Scorpions had a massive clear out and start over again. Least Jake Allen showed a bit of fight 🤣

  5. Well thanks for that but that’s Jordan Jenkins, who doesn’t ride for Berwick.

  6. @Gavan always goes on that Jaimon Lidsey can't ride anywhere apart from NSS, yet he has a higher away average then Jason Doyle and only 0.08 below Emil.

  7. And we all know who is to blame for that. They were quite happy in the NDL only to be forced up by the powers that be.

  8. Really happy to see Ace doing really well, good to see how he's bounced back after a dip in form last season.

  9. Sounds like if you are right, you look forward to saying "I told you so" but surely you'd love to be proved wrong? The more clubs racing the merrier!

  10. I would've moved Pickering to 5 a long while back, certainly scores more at Owlerton than Chris Holder.

  11. The Fords 'will be dipping into their pockets' to pay for the new air fence! As for Tobias, it is suggested that his Danish club will be in their top league next year so Wednesday fixtures!!! Thats why Plymouth or Glasgow might be better options for him.......?!😜 In any case, until the league format, number of teams and the 'agreed' 40points limit are confirmed, its a bit pointless looking at possible line-ups for 2026, imo!!

  14. Is it not possible that the riders simply want to do their best in every race they're in? Out of respect for the fans / to increase earnings etc.

  16. A decent night’s racing with Jack looking pretty imperious and a fairly comfortable win despite both Chris and Picko not being quite as on it as usual. Cracking ride by Morris to second on the line. If I was going to whinge… what was with the booing of Howarth when he won his final ride?? Only a few people, but seriously? Brilliant servant of the club for years, he deserves better than that.

  18. Will Monarchs get the 1 point the need to guarantee a place in the play-offs? They'll have to be at their very best to do it against a very strong Glasgow side. Jacob Hook guests for Villads Nagel and I must say it's very pleasing to see Jacob showing some real signs of progress this season. Friday 22nd August: Edinburgh Monarchs v Glasgow Tigers (Championship), Armadale, 7:30pm STELLAR MONARCHS: Victor Palovaara, Paco Castagna (Capt.), Justin Sedgmen, Michael Palm Toft, Kye Thomson, Jonatan Grahn, Jordy Loftus. ALLIED VEHICLES TIGERS: Chris Harris (Capt.), Jacob Hook (Guest), Dan Thompson, Leon Flint, Kyle Howarth, Freddy Hodder, Max Perry.

  19. Some good racing tonight from both teams, and a last heat decider to finish off another terrific Scottish Derby. Glasgow showing a bit of grit to pull through a chaotic night , Edinburgh pushed all the way. Fair play to both teams for an entertaining night of speedway.

  23. It wasn't that long ago (some) people were wanting him dropped this season. A few poor matches & people on here are (sometimes) quick to want changes made.

  24. Another major issue the sport has... In business, being "Brand Damaging" is avoided st all costs... In UK Speedway, it could be argued that to damage its brand isimply isnt possible, given the way it is ran has delivered a very low bar... "Any Speedway is better than no Speedway" appears the only mantra, hence four guests and RR is "perfectly acceptable" in the eyes of those in charge.. With the untold damage done to the sport further down the line, never for a moment considered it appears.... "Saving from themselves" might also be a good mantra to follow, as well meaning amateurs do their level best, but never learn about best practice, and how to deliver it...

  29. Both our top two are having a stinker of a year by their high standards (tbf to Doyle he’s been bashed around again this year). Both averaging over a point less than they did last year. And we’ll still finish top. Shows the strength of the side. If they’d been averaging similar to what they have the last couple of years it would be a completely no contest.

  30. Would Allied Vehicles get involved with a club who (according to you) are not going to run Championship next season? Maybe, but, this is a Poole thread, not Workington.

  34. So am I reading this correctly and Jason Doyle's rolling average is now 7.86? With 2 league matches to go for team building purposes, He will be on a bargain average for next year.

  37. As usual it’s difficult for the average fan to know the ‘rules, people often ask me because they know I’ve been going to speedway for over 50 years and most of the time my answer is,I haven’t got a clue!!Maybe someone could help me out with this question?I believe in the play-offs you can’t use a guest from the other semi finalists? Does that also apply for the BSN trophy and the KO Cup?I ask because of Redcar’s situation of qualifying for all 3 semifinals and needing to get guest’s for Erik Riss.

  43. I always look back on the 1978 World Final at Wembley with great fondness.. Heat 4... Ivan Mauger... did he fall or was he pushed... Ole Olsen... my favourite rider at the time winning... Gordon Kennett... the captain of my team, White City, finishing 2nd... and on his birthday! The GP's will never be as good as those one-offs...
