You mean Glasgow spend money on dirt, equipment, facilities for the riders instead of trips to Vegas, big win bonuses for only the 1st match of the season against Glasgow. Are the financial reasons that bad you cant afford some dirt, diesel to run more than one tractor and get your track man an extra pair of hands ?! As for affording Nagel ,what exactly you talking about? The no sign on fee, uses club bike/and club mechanic (who only charges fuel and food), the fact he showed interest in coming to Glasgow after the SGP2 before Glasgow even approached him And your knowledge of the Workington situation isnt even worth commenting on, other than if you think you know half a story take it as you know hee haw. As for the ref's decisions, is what it is, after 15 heats Poole won, no complaints here, thats sports. But there is absolutely no excuse to scrape the track bare on every grade. Tracks come alive after heat 7, Wimborne becames a soulless dirt track after heat 7. If you have a win at all costs attitude then fair play thats your call, but lets stop the BS denial of what you do to achieve that win, and the impact that has for fan entertainment and the core fundamental of bikes riding on dirt. Ironically your team building would still be as strong as they are now with a home track prepared and graded to actually race on,only difference is fans would see what speedway should look like on a regualr basis and not just a handful of heats here and there.8 points

There is a noticeable drop in crowd levels whenever BSN are in town no matter how far travelled the opposition are. Might just be us Glaswegians are tighter than anyone else or we just have more competition in the offered sports in the area I don't know but I can see why they decided to drop their streaming. The promotion is trying to get a lot of new fans interested in speedway and in my opinion, a big crowd is just as important in retaining them as good racing is. Half of sport is the atmosphere and if a new fan showed up to an empty back straight would they really stick around long?5 points

100% as soon as the rain came in certain riders had it fixated into their minds that they weren't going to ride no matter how much track work took place. Especially with it being a GP weekend as well.3 points

The turnstiles were opened at 6pm. The downpour started after 6:20pm. Your not going to then close the gates and leave people standing out in that rainstorm. Imagine the chaos if the meeting was to go ahead at 8:30. How would you get these supporters through the turnstiles in time3 points

Once again this myth rears its ugly head. What evidence do you have to make such an outrageous statement? As I've written before, you have to go back eleven years to find an incident in which a rider suffered career-changing injuries at Owlerton. How many other PL or CL tracks can make such a claim?3 points

Also quite a few clubs don't own the stadium and in Poole’s situation, stadium use is short term future (last time i heard them asked about it in the press). I think Poole fans enjoyed H15. In fact quite a few were jumping up and down. So i think they were entertained enough. Also the track was way better than in previous weeks, so will take that.3 points

The same Nagel who couldn’t fit UK into his schedule in the winter and the same one when asked a few weeks before signing for Glasgow who gave the same answer, then all of a sudden can do. So him showing an interest is utter crap, worked out ££££ well for him. I’m sure all other clubs would love to do half the stuff Glasgow have done to their stadium and track as well, however they don’t have a spare few million lying around like they do.3 points

Yes hope so the 3k free tickets were given away at the Beatson cancer charity run at the weekend to all the entries. it is a event supported massively by Allied Vehicles and raises lots of money for the charity along with lots of other events that Allied are associated with in Scotland3 points

So after 4 seasons as a Director & Shareholder that's my time with Birmingham Speedway at an end. An eventful, at times stressful, at times farcical and at times enjoyable experience! A huge thanks to the small but loyal Brummie fanbase that put up with season after season of under performing teams, you deserved better! Full credit and my upmost respect to Nigel Tolley, he wasn't far short with the figures he quoted in the recent speedway star interview with what he invested in the club (there was also a six figure investment from other shareholders during the period I must add). Nigel is as mad as a (top) hatter, but I really like the guy. My only criticism of him (and he knows this, I told him enough times) is that he allowed himself to be influenced by others who failed to deliver for the club! Seeing the day to day finances and operations of the a Championship and then Premiership club is a real eye opener, so a massive thanks to Financial Director Tracey Smith, who somehow managed to juggle the finances to keep everyone happy (most of the time) a truly lovely lady, she has been the glue in a massively disjointed operation, which would have fallen apart without her. Some priceless moments over the 4 years on the management zoom meetings / race nights - I could write a book! You also learn a lot about riders, some smashing chaps around Paco Castagna (legend) Freddie Lindgren, Tobi M, Leon Flint, Sam Hagon, Jason Edwards, Thompson twins all really good guys! No comment about some mind Made some great friends, I will miss Guesty, Dave Rowe, Pete & Dan Ballinger, Chris Adams, the guys and girls from the supporters club and fellow shareholders Steven, Jake and Vic. Such a shame that Birmingham Speedway is no more, but without Nigel it wouldn't have got into 2023 let alone 2025 and for that alone he deserves the respect of those who knock him! Give us a B.....! What’s probably needed is a couple of Premier clubs say they can no longer afford to run in the league and need to run championship. Then we will see a change of mind to the current set up2 points

Your original statement that "Sheffield is the most dangerous track in the league" is not borne out by historical statistics and is therefore misinformation. Like most teams, Sheffield has seen several of its home riders suffer injuries during recent seasons, but not once have those injuries been incurred at Owlerton. Rather odd considering they are riding at Owlerton week-in, week-out, don't you think? In the absence of evidence to the contrary, a retraction of your disgraceful and dishonest misrepresentation would be the appropriate measure.2 points

Yeah , not paying riders correctly breaches SCB regulations. Rules for some but not others it would seem.2 points

My parents used to take me to Rayleigh and we would enjoy both the Speedway and Stock Cars before rushing back to the station to travel back to Wimbledon for the evening meeting at Plough Lane. The last few years saw the Stock Cars replaced by PRI Bangers and Mini Rods or Anglia Rods, personally Stock Cars and Mini Rods would have been our favourite but the Stock Cars had been replaced by the PRI Bangers by the time the Mini Rods started. Being a Stock Car, Speedway and Railway enthusiast I thought it was a great day and always looked forward to our Rayleigh visits.2 points

Exactly, which is why he should have been the first name on the Leicester team sheet this season but it sounds like we were maybe dithering around and he decided to accept a concrete offer from Lynn. We ended up with Craig Cook!!!!2 points

Kudos to Leicester who interviewed Andy Grahame, Nigel Tolley, Laurance Rogers and after the match the whole of the Birmingham team and management for those who stayed behind, even though there wasn't much said by the riders that wasn't about themselves, most of these riders seem to be so out of touch with the club and fans they ride for, sometimes it seems as though it would be better if they kept their helmets on and we could just live with the illusion that they actually care about the club they ride for. Not so much kudos to Mr Zagar though, while a bit of language doesn't particularly bother me, effing & jeffing over the PA to the crowd is not big, clever or particularly that funny. After the Allen/Wright fine I fully expect Mr Zagar to be receiving a similar fine for breach of SCB Reg 017.2 h) The use of any accessible form of media to propagate foul, abusive or offensive language, profane activity or fraudulent comments against any rider, official or member of the SCB or deemed to bring the ACU, SCB or BSP LTD into disrepute.2 points

Pleasing result for The Aces with better a performance from our reserves. Shame about Jaimon but these things happen and even an average return from him would have seen another away win, not that it was needed. I was 250 miles away but even I could hear Brady say f*#^ that in his last two rides and it difficult to argue against that when comparing a late season filler to the world crown. After this, I’m very optimistic about our play off meetings given the form of our bottom four and the scores to be delivered by our top three. Exciting times again on the domestic and world front for Aces fans.2 points

Funny how so many of the 50/50 calls seem to go in one particular direction... and I'm not just talking about this meeting...2 points

See this is the problem ignorant people having a sly dig at Glasgow without knowing the full facts. An unlikeable self entitled fanbase and then having a cheap shot for helping another club out. Tells you everything you need to know about them.2 points
-
I think most would see this as a rant of someone whose team lost and trying to make excuses why they lost. Glasgow do not have a stream so most of us will not be able to see the meeting and comment on how amazing it is, plenty of dirt on the track, passing on every bend etc.2 points

You've said this before on another thread about Nagel being unable to ride in the uk. And I repeat why would a young up and coming Danish rider want to ride at Armadale. He is a polite young man so I'm sure he would have given a polite response should the monarchs have spproached him. It's a pity your Livingston project fell through. Has anything been built on.the site yet or were the new land owners just hoping you would offer them good money to lease the site? And what happened to the money that was going to be used for that project?2 points

When do you suggest they should have run it then ? Looking at both team's fixtures, either one or both were riding every Thursday from the start of April to today, other than May 8th and May 29th when there were no Premiership matches at all. Didn't Lynn also get dog's abuse for calling off a meeting the day before and all the experts on here saying the forecast rain didn't come and the track would have been perfect ? The forecast for Sheffield in the late afternoon was for light rain and none after about 6pm so in theory the meeting could have gone ahead. There was a torrential downpour just after 6 which made the track unrideable and the track staff did everything they could but not all the riders were happy to race so the ref called it off. How is any of this the fault of the Sheffield promotion ? How long is the journey from Ipswich to Sheffield ? 3.5 to 4 hours on a good run ? Assuming nobody wants to risk getting there at the last minute, I would guess most fans would be setting off between 2pm and 3pm. Do you expect them to be psychic and call it off 3 hours before it has even rained ? I would say that it is likely it won't need to be run anyway. If Ipswich win at home next Thursday then the playoffs will be sorted without this match.2 points

I believe the rain started some time between 6 and 6.30, so the turnstiles were already open. Are you suggesting that once it started to rain heavily they should have close the gates and leave people standing in the rain ? Everyone will have a readmission ticket which can either be used for the rearranged fixture or refunded so it's not as if the club have gained by opening the turnstiles. The only winners last night are the stadium owners who would have gained rental income and sold food and drinks to the punters.1 point

Having a stream does not necessarily mean less attendance. Poole crowds are pretty much unaffected by having a stream I would say.1 point

Not like you to be defensive about your own team 😁 have a day off with the bias. Nobody is saying that anything matters more than anything else, its just an example of how things could have been different. And shows that from a Lynn perspective we weren't a million miles away. All ifs, buts and maybes of course. So don't go looking for a disagreement where there isn't one, theres a good lad 👍1 point

Also just been informed that if we'd won that BV away fixture when Jan was injured and beaten them at home in April when we had all those engine failures and only lost by two then we'd be going into Monday's meeting with Sheffield with fourth place in our own hands 😩 The fine margins of sport!1 point

UK speedway was never ran professionally & the great chance of creating a future was blown when the Sky money was wasted. The fact that the poles have a product that attracts huge crowds, investment form business & more than one tv company broadcasting the league live is down to their hard work & running the sport professionally.1 point
-
But you haven’t offered examples of how to reduce the costs for riders promoters and fans, saying standardising engines isn’t really a workable solution which is a common theme and what does that even mean ? there are things that can be done to reduce costs to engines but there is no will to do it, I (blowing my own trumpet here ) have suggested more than most in the sport about ways to reduce bike costs but nobody listens and I also get stick for it from the current clique in the sport which is fine,I speak to tuners, riders,ex riders and put my thoughts to them, some agree some don’t but nothing changes, bigger ex riders than me know you face a brick wall to get change and don’t bother .promoters just cutting the wages again isn’t going to wash, there has to be a trade off, we have all been saying it for years but nobody ever really comes up with a workable solution, me included1 point
-
No one has the answers, but for me the riders are dictating the sport with their wage demands and the moaning that they can’t make it pay unless they ride in both leagues . The fans are fed up seeing the same riders every week riding for different Clubs. Its just not a credible sport. eg Your rider helping other Teams ,comprising your Teams chances.(just one).Thete are many more examples.1 point

Spot on comment about there being an appetite for Speedway... At the NSS there have been two good crowds this year, yesterday and the PCMM... One being ran on a BHM and the other being ran early in the season with a top class field.. If those who attended, me included, saw enough in the product to attend more regularly then 2000 plus crowds would be the norm... Running on a normal Monday simply restricts crowds, weekend is "leisure time".. Running several meetings as "meaningless", as the play off positions are set in stone from May, simply restricts crowds... And running meetings when you know (well in advance) that riders will be missing, but happily replacing them with competitor's employees, simply restricts crowds.. It costs me over fifty quid for me and my lad as he works PT and has much better things to spend his money on, meaning we attend three, maybe four times a season.. Get it down to thirty quid for us both and it would easily be double figure attendance for us both... Personally, given the Mickey Mouse operating model, neither of us care who wins (like many others who sporadically attend), as the credibility of the competitions is almost zero, but we do love watching the racing at the NSS as it can be breathtaking... As you say, that disconnect needs to be sorted... They could start by running meetings on the best night for the fans to attend in the highest numbers.. Run with less riders per team to make supply exceed demand for adhoc and longer term replacements, which then brings credibility.... And set an admission fee that reflects the standing of the sport in the UK, and the 15 mins or so of entertainment that is actually on offer... The core product is still very watchable, the nonsense surrounding it doesn't do it any favours...1 point
