Unlucky Aces, started decent and thought we were in for a long night but we turned it round after heat 8 and kept the foot down to get the job done. Tough conditions for both riders early on and not as big crowd as I expect but weather might had played a part. I want to mention this though… my Polish mother in law came over and she has a close friend who was diagnosed with cancer recently, and she has an operation next month. Her favourite rider is Bewley so today after the meeting we waitied to see if he would give us a minute of his time. He was very polite and listened to the story of her friend, he put his bags down and wrote a message out directed to her, wishing her all the best and signing it. For me, it’s something he didn’t have to do especially after that meeting and not the best performance but he was still willing to be a kind human to help another out and make her day. I wished him all the best for the weekend and off he went, sometimes you can get caught up in the racing but these guys are just humans like us and whether Ipswich won or lost tonight I would remember that gesture of kindness over speedway. Good luck Saturday Dan B.6 points

No he won't. He's nowhere near as good as either of those two riders. The whole speedway world should unite behind Zmarzlik on Saturday to stop this clown from trashing the honour of being world champion.5 points

If the sport here was run in a professional manner & the supporters had that bond with the team as their riders that could happen here. We are now in a position where riders over here in the main are just hired hands who ride for your club one night & someone else the next in in the uk.5 points

Have to say well done Ipswich, were the better team anyway and would have knocked us out whatever the track conditions, hopefully the weather plays ball for the next semi final and final.4 points

Mark Lemon is very biased towards Zischke. Mulford should be the one getting extra rides.4 points

And right there is why I will always want zmarzlik over Kurtz to be world champion, zmarzlik would never of put a ride in like that, he would of busted a gut even for a single point, Kurtz didnt try4 points

Thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast for the Middlesbrough area on Sunday. Redcar should make the sensible decision and call it off now.4 points

Middleditch should have been apologetic about the minority of fans from Poole instead he tried to wave it away as banter , not acceptable.4 points

Its a weird old world isn't it? Ipswich fans are more pissed off with Brady's performance than the Aces fans .. Surely the fact that your opponents best rider was crap should be a good thing as it meant a very easy victory in a semi final of the sports premier domestic competition.... I hope Haaland plays absolutely crap on Sunday and United therefore win... If he does play crap, I definitely won't be moaning about his performance on any of the forums afterwards...3 points

Both will have brought lots of entertainment this season.. At a level few others could match... A bad night can happen to anyone and given the huge financial penalties in Poland for getting injured elsewhere, and the huge publicity and financial rewards in winning their top league, I can understand why Emil did what he needed to do taking zero risks.. As for Brady? This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity, and, with all the best will in the world, another UK title isn't going to define his career one iota is it? But a World Championship will cement his legacy in the sport...3 points

I do blame them though, riders with this attitude need to be drummed out of our leagues, they're short changing the few remaining fans that do attend and attract no new fans to our sport3 points

Behave yourself, what's the problem, did he nick your bird or something?3 points

UK clubs are not the priority for riders nowadays, sad but true remember the passion at the Belle Vue v Leicester meeting at Hyde road when you beat us and heat 13 was abandoned and Lions getting a police escort out of the stadium? That was real rider passion for their respective clubs. Think it was in 1971 not sure.3 points

What is Mike lemons thinking with the reserves, mullford gets taken out of his second ride leaving big gap between rides, he then gets a decent 2nd and gets took out his last ride for zischkie who hasn’t beat an opponent3 points

I followed the meeting on the updates so could not comment on the racing or the track conditions but whole heartedly agree, Brady and Dan have to look at the bigger picture and possibly the pinnacle of each one’s career and anyone in their position would chase the dream. Good luck to both this weekend and let’s hope both have a successful evening.3 points

I'm sorry but I just get this rider over club mentality from some fans. I pay my money to watch my club in the British Speedway league, although it's nice to watch the SGP series and a rider from your club do well, I couldn't really give a toss what they did elsewhere tbh.3 points

GP riders not trying there hardest in British speedway is one of the many reasons why I'm not fussed about them potentially not riding here anymore..3 points

BZ on a track like this in a team meeting would be riding very much with self preservation in mind, just like Brady... On a track like this in a GP then BZ would be full on... Just like Kurtz would be... The difference being of course, in Poland, BZ wouldn't have a track like this to race on... Emil is another example of someone with much bigger fish to fry given he must not get injured and possibly miss the Polish play offs, hence he will be just pleased to complete his four rides..3 points

The money isn’t for him, pay him enough he be here and you would get 100%3 points

I feel there is another agenda here to keep repeating it over and again in the press. Maybe trying to put off riders who are angling of a move to Poole over Glasgow?! Just a thought. Muddy the water?3 points

Agreed on the fans wearing the gear, I was stood in the first bit of the stand off the 2nd bend, just behind the half dozen Ipswich fans who had made the trip, (kudos to them), there were plenty around me wearing the club stuff, including a couple of the Witches fans. I wouldn't wear it at my age, 65, but would've loved some of the gear available now in my younger days. Back then the only choices were a black, white and red anorak, or a red, white and black anorak, oh and a bobble hat, now there are hoodies, t-shirts, bandanas, all kinds of hats etc. As someone pointed out, seeing the Poles twirling there scarves following a race victory is great to watch, it's just a whole different sport over there isn't it, something we can only dream of now. I can remember the sights and sounds of the BLRC at Hyde Rd, for me it's the only thing that comes close to what we see in Poland.3 points

An issue like this can be kept in house between the BSPA/SCB and both clubs and dealt with properly. Yet Lanning and Brown continue to keep adding fuel to the fire asking for trouble in the return leg with these constant press releases.3 points

But the league positions were decided by teams using guests too? I'm not a fan of play-offs, but that's nothing to do with the guest situation.3 points

you are probably right but to be fair hes not wrong any club worth their salt would be finding these people and barring them hopefully its fired their riders up and they give poole a good hiding3 points

and as if by magic one of the people who is a massive part of the problem (head in sand) comes along with a laughing reaction those who run sponsor and are involved just cant see the damage thats being done to still be running semi finals of all three competitions in mid september is gross negligence3 points
-
I'd disagree with that actually, last time I was up there, in the south stand, I actually did notice how many team shirts were being worn by the fans... maybe it's different in the posh seats in the main stand3 points

Agree but at least the meeting on Saturday will have an element of a challenge for those in contention rather than it being a foregone conclusion so let’s just wait and see how events evolve. Good luck to all who have a chance to be crowned and end up as part of the one to three in the world.2 points

You can’t in any way defend Brady tonight that was disgusting performance…. Pretty much the best gater in the world and never tried an inch … you watch him all season at home flying round the NSS and pay your hard earned money only for him to not bother at all when it really matters … He is also your captain … what team talk did he give at the start to simply then stick 2 fingers up to his team mates Yes our track isn’t the best and the weather made it much harder but true speedway fans know that makes it a leveller but Belle Vue bottled it badly Doyle showed how to ride it and Brennan and King and Ellis attacked it … the Belle Vue boys didn’t do anything apart from Blodorn and Cook ….2 points

Well done Ipswich, tie was all but over after Monday and the state of this track meant there was no way we would mount a challenge. FWIW I've no issue with Brady playing safe with Saturday in mind, he's put in plenty of effort for the Aces over the years, here's hoping he can claw those 3 points back and give Bart a run for his money. Same goes for Dan, not worth risking your neck tonight.2 points

Think you'll find he's got bigger fish to fry at the weekend. Bewley likewise. Stay safe and clear of injury is their only option.2 points

When I think of the Aces Captains through the years, this is a pretty disgraceful performance, not worthy of the armband.2 points

Will say congratulations to Ipswich now because by the time heat 15 is finished this message may of actually been posted after submission.2 points

Utter rubbish Mike and you know it zmarzlik doesn’t do self preservation rides ever, I watched him in a Benifit meeting last year for some disabled kid and rode like his life depended on it2 points

Once again Lemon Favouring the young Aussie over Mulford. He got a good 2nd there, considering he hadn't not ridden since heat 2.2 points
-
He has to ride every track presented to him as does every rider, some smooth some not, it’s only the extraleague tracks which are smooth, some of the 3rd league polish tracks are sometimes rough and ready and when he goes there for test matches or individuals which is what they do in Poland and he is always 100% and just the point there is nothing wrong with this track, the harder you ride the easier it is2 points

As a Poole fan and who went to the meeting. I sat in the big stand and didn't hearing anything, but that didn't mean this didn't happen, if it did then yes it needs to be dealt with by the club, as people shouting that are not welcome in our sport, this isn't football. We have young family's attending and they don't need be exposed to this. But this needs to be dealt with behind closed doors and not aired in public now after a number of press releases from Glasgow, it only adds to the fire of some and it will cause incitement. Speedway is struggling as it is and does not need further bad press in my opinion! Need to draw a line under this now and the club deal with any supporters caught will be thrown out the stadium going forward. Lets make one thing clear this isn't the Poole club I have supported for 35 years! we welcome all traveling fans to Wimborne Road!2 points

I get that it's a chicken & egg situation in Britain, but the appearance of the merch available in Poland is usually superior to this country, and doesn't normally start and end with a race shirt and a polo top. I bought some Janowski merch where I last visited Poland, just because it was a decent looking tee that had a cool speedway design on it - I don't think I could name a more boring and forgettable top-level rider than Janowski, but I still bought his merch because it looked decent. It's a completely different animal, yes...but it's the exact same sport. Why is it virtually the national sport? Why is it tribal? Why is merchandising a big business? I don't think Poland has any big secret that they're keeping from us, it's still 4 riders/4 laps/etc/etc. They just do everything better. They don't have PL football to compete with but they still have football clubs who average 10,000+ every match, basketball clubs that average 15,000+, volleyball is very popular, gridiron is popular, etc. It's not as if it's some sporting backwater where the choice is speedway or nothing.2 points
