What a night and what a crowd Leicester are a good side and Fricke was exceptional Dickson is a great manager and he showed great respect to us as a crowd applauding us and chatting …. Thought he was a bit harsh saying ‘his reserves’ as Joe sadly is out of his depth didn’t score a point in the semi or the final …. The rage Dickson had for Kemp was apparent and he did well to hold it in I felt… don’t think Kemp will ride for him again He should be Team GB manager instead of that whinging Stead Good final unlucky Leicester you are a great club with a good bunch of fans and I wish you more success But for now …. Wrong decision from ref, pijper ran out of room8 points

It could be the most average meeting you’ve ever seen, but a crowd and atmosphere like that just makes a world of difference doesn’t it. The gate receipts last night will have helped Louis no end and good on him. He could have built less expensive teams over the last few years and saved himself some cash but he’s used every bit of help from the sponsors to push the boat out and recruit the best team he could so he deserves that money spinner last night.8 points

No one made a big deal of it, but it was great to see Chris Louis takes his medal off and put it around Ellis' neck - A really classy move 💫6 points

As gutted as I am to see the Lions lose I think that a Witches victory is probably the best for British Speedway, first of all that size crowd doesn't deserve to be sent home unhappy and hopefully many will return. Ippo have been the team to beat for the last 3 seasons, they took the financial gamble in bringing Emil back 3 years ago to partner Doyley and we've all benefited from that, they've worked the rulebook to within an inch of its life this year (and fair play to them for that) and they've got a true local legend captaining the club which is rare to see these days (even though he comes in for a bit of stick from certain quarters) Well done Witches, well deserved and earned... our final was the semi final again (we've got to stop celebrating semi final victories like that!)... it's our turn next year6 points

. . . and congratulations from me. I well remember the 1998 season and the winning Witches team including one certain resident of my town, Bydgoszcz. I am so glad that the 2025 winning Witches team also includes one certain resident of Bydgoszcz, who not only won the Polish Ekstraliga Championship title, but also the British Premiership League title. Up the Witches ! ! !5 points

Now if you could take even half that crowd, the atmosphere, the passion and commitment, bottle it and replicate it at say 8-10 tracks for even half the meetings each year you would have quite a sporting spectacle on your hands.....5 points

Pleased for Ipswich, it’s been a long wait, tough on Leicester but hopefully their time will come. Especially chuffed for Danny King who has now won league titles at all three levels of British Speedway, I wonder how many riders can say that? I was concerned at one point that the winners would win by a single point and eclipse the Panthers 2006 final win, thankfully that honour remains intact! As always, great presentation from the centre green by Kevin Long. 27 years, it’s been a long time, I hope everyone connected with Ipswich savours every minute of it. The crowd was mahoosive, we didn’t stay for the trophy lift as we wanted to get out of the car park before Friday evening. 🤪4 points

a big difference in one of these pictures is he wasnt a guest. Dont people want less guests?4 points

To have this support tonight was so special for the lads, it felt hard work at times and deffo you could feel real pressure and nerves in the crowd and riders at times. To have to open the back stand on bend three because of the amount of people is a credit to the fans, the running and promotion of the club and the riders. I don’t know how good the meeting looked on tv, but it felt special to have so many people here tonight and the joy in the riders faces on the centre green celebrating just made the night amazing. Leicester were worthy finalists and on another night could have won it, but something just felt special about tonight, like it was meant to be our night. I hope speedway won tonight and not just Ipswich. We need to build this sport back to bring these crowds back. 2025 you’ve been special! Thanks for all teams who raced us, rivals or not, I hope everyone experiences what I felt tonight 🏆👏🏻 Until next time…4 points

Very very sour grapes by Pijper at the end there. Young lad needs to grow up. It was his own fault.3 points

Nasty crash between Thomsen and Pijper. Pijper down last bend. Sitting up and up. Tobias excluded never touched him! Outrageous decision!3 points

I’d personally love to see him at Foxhall and try to get to grips with the track by riding it regularly. He’s such a class rider I’m sure it wouldn’t take him too long to start scoring heavily. It is all a bit weird isn’t it. He’s been praising us for a while and to turn up last night was a surprise. We don’t know what they have in store for next year yet but in any scenario, I don’t think Bewley would fit with his average. Same for Emil. I think they’ll go with Doyle and Brennan because even if the starting team average stays the same, we’ll have to shave off a chunk. If it’s a lower limit, it’ll have to be an even bigger chunk. Going to be an interesting winter to see what they’ve got in store for next year.3 points

After taking time to reflect on last night. Two meetings this week involving two great sides who ride each others home circuits as well as their own. A great crowd at Leicester on Monday & a massive one last night at Ipswich. No idea on the figure but easily the best I have possibly ever seen on the heath. For me personally as an Ipswich fan the right result. Well done to all the lads & to Kenyan for covering Adam so well. Even if your not involved all season you are still a witch & it was great to see Rew lay it on the line at times. That shows the regard these boys hold he club once they have riden for us. Well done to Leicester for making it a cracking night, your fans are superb had some great conversation with them. A great advert for the sport & hopefully gives everyone a shot in the arm & reminds them what this sport could be. For Emil it must have felt like riding at Torun with pack stands! Hopefully it’s not the last we have seen of Emil but I have a hunch that that chapter may have come to a fitting conclusion.3 points

Couldn't agree more. It was unbelievable how he found himself in those situations, and how badly it turned out for him. I can certainly understand him "playing it safe", but in a sport like speedway, that can actually make things worse. After the last one. I just pray that it wasn't one too many...3 points

Oh yes wot a night POOLE PIRATES' ☠️ KO CUP WINNERS 🏆 2025 C'MON THE BOYZZZ ☠️💪2 points

I'd go along with that. Dan Thompson is potentially the biggest issue imo. Great race night, Poole showed class, Tobias unlucky exclusion, looking for where other riders are isn't a reason for exclusion, Piper's error.2 points

2nd time I’ve heard Ace talking like that after squaring up and saying the same sort of rubbish when someone passed him fairly in conference league. He mucked up the corner as struggles to ride the outside and Thomsen passed him fairly as everyone both on the tv and on here have said.2 points
-
I personally think The Dane is a bit of a wild rider, but he did nothing wrong. Piper left a massive hole on the inside and Thomsen went there. Once Thomsen was there. Piper's only option was a cut back. He choose instead to keep going on the outside. Unfortunately, once he did there was only going to be the one outcome.2 points

Agreed, Ace can see him coming decides To try and cut back too late and just comes off the throttle.2 points

Been thinking about Kemp, he needs help, if Leicester want to keep him, then it should be only if he accepts to work with a Sports Psychologist. The issues with stopping when at the back are in is head, and rather than throwing him on to the scrap heap, it would be worth trying to help him.2 points

The loss of Dan Gilkes to a season ending injury, so soon after being signed, proved to be a terrible blow to the Lions. Since the re-birth of the Lions in 2011, it is almost like the number 7 position has had a curse over it, regardless of the league being competed in. Like Leicester Tigers rugby team did with the dressing room they used to use for matches they played at Leicester City football stadium, maybe the Lions owners need to hire the services of a Shamen to lift the curse of No.72 points

Glad to see the witches win after a long wait with a few near misses thrown in recently, after a similar wait I know how you must be feeling. I’ve seen heat 13 which was very entertaining and all played out in front of a superb crowd, oh to recreate that on a regular basis. Looking forward to our meetings next season and hopefully the powers that be don’t dilute things too much and we get to appreciate our stars battling it out on track. It’s an even numbered year again so fingers crossed we keep our format going, 2022, 2024 & 2026?2 points

Well done and congratulations Ipswich! Deserved play off winners in my eyes with the best 1-7 in the league . I'm a proud lions supporter also, we have a had a great season. KO cup and another final is something we can be proud of. In my eyes we have exceeded expectations by getting to a another play off final and I praise the riders and our gaffer Stewart Dickson. I wasn't confident at all last night so I actually didn't feel alot of a pain seeing us lose another final, I was more content with the season as a whole. It's completely ok to be out classed by a stronger opposition. We battled hard last night but unfortunately you can't win play off finals with only 5 riders getting the points in, when Kemp and Joe were getting a few more points earlier this season we looked unstoppable but when there off the boil we look vulnerable. Id like to see a different team set up next year , maybe a strong number 6 wouldn't be a bad idea. We've been struggling at reserve for a few seasons now..anyways what do I know congrats again Witches and fingers crossed next season is great for all involved.2 points

They were also sponsored by national companies, (Newspapers and Tobacco companies for the big ones), which delivered some big appearance money for the top riders, and big prize values.... And for many tracks who held such meetings, it was the only other chance you got apart from the league meeting to see the "superstar" from Belle Vue/Cradley/Coventry/Exeter etc... Newspapers and Tobacco? Both of a different time and showing great decline in the amount of people purchasing those products... Sounds familiar....2 points
-
That’s a bit unfair, no matter what you think about Tatum he has served his time as a class speedway rider and just for that he deserves the fruits that the sport can offer him2 points
-
So you agree that your talk about BZ's "high appearance fee" ... is nonsense. You also accuse BZ of not "being seen outside of his country promoting Speedway", Where would you like him to be seen? In Argentina? France? Which other countries, apart from Australia, have speedway tracks. Oh yes, there is also league racing in Britain, but he is already riding in two leagues. One could say there are also individual event. I would say there were. Where is Internationale, Pride of the East, etc., etc. As far as BZ's "inability to communicate with anybody outside of Poland" is concerned ,why all the Extraliga English speaking stars communicate only in English whilst they ride and earn big money on Polish tracks. If you want him to do "interview during GP on the world feed", ask then Abi Stephens to interview him in his native language and then translate (on the spot) into the language you understand. That's how it done in the Polish League.2 points
-
I don’t think you can blame the gps. The sport had already been in decline for the decade before their introduction. What you blame is failure to move with the times in the uk.2 points

Sadly, I think a lot of what you're missing is nostalgia, not that there's anything wrong with that. Modern day speedway is clearly thriving domestically in Poland, and isn't exactly dead in Sweden, so why is GB struggling? I think you could bring back Wembley, uprights, 4TT and whatever else, but it's too late. It's been like death by a thousand paper cuts following British speedway in the last 25 years. I think where we do agree is that it's probably too far gone now. Sad.2 points
