  1. Where is the source of this concept coming from. Unless I am mistaken, The 2026 GP series will run pretty much in line with 2025 concept. Or put another way, your post is without foundation and is in fact utter garbage!

  2. I would scrap all of the GPs. I am not sure that British Speedway has benefitted too much from having them. The old World Final was a much better way of deciding the World Champion than the GPs. However, we have what we have and I suppose we will have to put up with it.

  3. Unfortunately we are where we are but I'd take 100% committed Simon Lambert over play off Bob every day of the week đŸ‘đŸ»

  4. When Plymouth changed nights from a Tuesday to a Saturday, their crowds increased by several double digit percentages .. Mainly families... Which suggested these people knew about Speedway but were not prepared to have their kids (and maybe even themselves), out late on a Tuesday... There is a reason Poland use Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the vast majority of their meetings, and it isn't to allow all the GP riders there, as, if they ran on Monday and Thursdays only each week, the GP riders would still be there due to the money... However... The fans wouldn't be there in the same numbers, especially the kids who make a up a decent portion of each crowd in Poland.. UK Speedway simply cannot be ran like a "proper team sport" so why keep trying? (The evidence even suggests they don't)... The 2nd tier ran a semi final in their flagship competition, with one team having three guests, yet I suggest the crowd wouldn't have been that different if Glasgow turned up with seven of their own riders, therefore just try and run as many meetings on whatever your "best" night is... The Aces for example would 100% get more fans on a Friday or Saturday night than they do on a Monday, given more families would go... Long gone are the days when you could take what you are watching "too seriously" in the context of a bona fide team sport, yet the raw material of the racing is as good as ever for me, (from Div One to NDL), so just run on nights you find most of your customers want to attend... The Entertainment Industry lives or dies by what it takes at weekend, not what it takes on Monday and Thursday... Plymouth changed nights, not riders, and their crowds have been quoted as doubled, with not one GP rider in sight, and often not even all their own riders there!!

  5. Are all these returning GP riders going to ride for a lot less money, because if they don't we cant afford them

  6. Interesting piece in this week's Speedway Star that the Ford's are pushing for 2H and 2A league fixtures for next season. This needs to happen and do away with the BSN series if needed imo.

  7. But we have "RR and guests all over the place" now... So, no real difference other than running on nights that could attract a better crowd level...

  8. And that benifits who ? Not even the hard core fans of the top 5 teams want a league with 5 teams or even 6 teams if they could pull one out of the hat, roll on next Wednesday I can’t bare anymore rumours cause that’s all it is at the moment but I can’t help but feel next season is going to be awful for British speedway at the top level

  9. 100%... You could have a very decent season of racing with "14 Simon Lambert's" riding each week...... And have a very similar crowd level, (after the initial novelty has worn off after about four weeks), that "14 Robert Lambert's" would deliver.... With one being very much more costly than the other, for very little difference in both the entertainment level and the size of the prize in winning.

  10. Ive said it before and ill say it again, Simon Lambert has done much more for the sport than your inane and nonsensical posts on here ever will.

  11. To add, my number one highlight was to the detriment of Belle Vue (sorry BV fans). The 2023 semi final at Belle Vue heat 15 for Emil and Doyle to come through and win vs Bewley and Kurtz was unreal, not many pairs do that to them at Belle Vue! And hats off to Bewley and Kurtz because they made that race amazing to watch. Four laps of total madness with emotions everywhere! What a heat that was.

  12. In light of Andrew Bain's comments about 'something exciting happening for 2026'! Should this be moved to the Premiership section?

  13. A bit harsh.... 'Arry, in that article, seemed to have an almost encyclopedic knowledge of the sport from the early 70's to the modern day...😉

  17. Would love to have Mcdiarmid at Poole. Considering this guy was 17 in March and his first season in UK at Poole Stadium alone he scored a 4 ride av of 6.77 or 7.38 incl bp from 3 matches and 13 rides. Very impressive for a 17 year old in his first season. His GSA is only 5.18 and he rode in POL U24 Lge and finished runners up with Zischke in the Son FIM U21 World team Champ. Definitely got a future in the sport.

  19. Hopefully Mr Dickson has realised the importance of contributions from a team's RS after the last two seasons. Ideally I'd like to see Dan Gilkes back or even Luke KIlleen. Frustratingly, we carried our No.7 throughout last season and still got within a whisker of doing the double.

  22. I got a sponsor at long Eaton in 1996 and he remained a sponsor till I retired in 2012 and even then I remained in touch till he passed away 2 years ago, I never asked anything of him and was very greatful for whatever sponsorship he gave me which over the 16 years was quite a fair bit,I think it’s called respect and although most riders are respectful I have seen a few over the years who imo took the pee

  24. Thought I’d open up a chat if anybody wanted to say thanks to Emil, might end up sharing it with him so he can read some more nice messages over the winter, if anybody wants to share some highlights or best moments of him, lastly, I wanted to share what Chris wrote about him and how it wasn’t easy to get him. More like Chris in this sport needs to be brave and stand up, I think we know the FIM has failed us at this, It was such a difficult time for Emil and his family when he was left in the wilderness because of the war in Ukraine and I felt something needed to be done. “My work to allow Emil to race in the UK was not universally accepted and alienated me in some quarters, but it soon became apparent that he was going to be a hugely popular character, not only at Ipswich, but up and down the country

  25. There is a minimum earning level you must show you can achieve to get certain tier level visas .. I presume that is why some riders get/need guarantees? (And double up?)... Before I retired one of my team needed to show he earned (if I remember correctly) ÂŁ41k to stay in the country... It had increased since his last visa got granted... So I put up his hours and let him work each Sunday for premium time... I then printed and signed copies of his contract for him to send off to the Government depts ..

  26. He always spent ages taking pictures and signing stuff after meetings at Peterborough, a real credit to the sport.

  28. It's beginning to look like the only reason 'Arry's services were acquired was to put a press release out that he (allegedly) watched Speedway on TNT Sports, probably in the hope of extending the TV deal with them... other than that I really can't see what he can bring to the sport.

  29. The funny thing is we don’t have 14 Simon Lamberts. The career second division man has been killed off by the short sighted rule changes of the last decade. They’re the bumblebees of British speedway. Nobody really cared about them but their demise brings down the whole shebang.

  32. You are comparing apples to oranges .. To watch that standard of Poliish racing over here would mean an enormous admission fee to get in.. More than Premier League football... Meaning crowds wouldn't increase, but actually drop... They pay circa ten times the money, so you would need ten times the current money through the doors...

  37. It only doesn't have the finances because the crowds are not coming in. If riders want to ditch UK for Poland, fair enough, good luck to them. Currently the lunatics are running the asylum.

  38. Hi Bartek .... Do you know the GP's will probably be cancelled next year? You don't? Are you not on the BSF? No? Get yourself on there mate, the breaking news starts there... So... This means you have plenty of meetings less next season so how do you fancy riding in the UK? You do? That's brilliant! The fans will love you... The Zmarzlik name alone will pack the stands. How much do you want to ride? (Bartek answers. Long Pause)... You haven't got a brother that rides Bartek have you? Bartek? Hello? Bartek? You still there?

  40. Sadly I think that may well be the situation most of the people I speak to or come in contact with have zero knowledge or interest in the sport ,when you start talking about it they often "glaze over" (in the same way I do about football) or think that it ceased to exist anymore . IMO the sport needs someone to inject a significant amount of money and raise the profile ,not unlike Wrexham FC a perfect example of what money can do !

  41. If the Speedway Grand Prix series doesn’t go ahead in 2026, that’s 15 world-class regulars suddenly searching for ways to keep racing fit and keep the income flowing. Once again, the usual detractors can’t see beyond the status quo—while ironically wishing that very status quo would change. The motto of many British speedway fans seems to be “What do we want ? We want change ! But not that!” Whatever “that” is, they actually prefer to remain wrapped in the blanket of cold pessimistic negativity!

  45. Attending sporting fixtures is way different to going to a pub. This past Monday 41476 turned out to watch Sunderland v Everton. On a smaller scale 2820 turned out to watch Tamworth. And a good number of the people who went were kids with at least one parent - even though next day was a school day. Make Speedway interesting, consistent, worthwhile & known about and folk will come.

  46. Agree. Rye on a Sunday afternoon was a a good place to watch racing and I use to do the music at the track and did the same at Hackney on Friday night. Rayleigh on a Saturday night was always well attended and whilst the racing may not be up to today’s standards it was riders who raced from the heart and soul and you were always entertained and it just seemed to be less of a gap between the heat leaders and the second strings. You also had your characters and Brian Foote for example was was the arch enemy from Romford until he joined Rayleigh. Terry Stone was a real stalwart and Tiger Beech and Trevor Barnwell were great to watch as was Ivan Miller. I look and today’s racers and wonder how many will still be fondly remembered in fifty two years time. Dingle Brown was another character and Geoff Maloney was also up with the likes of Hughie Saunders where incidentally most doubled up with Hackney so doubling up is not new but because Len promoted both it was like lending a member of the family and a good opportunity to watch a riders progression. I am still young enough to remember Johnnie Hoskins at Rayleigh with his Canterbury team and Dave Lanning with Eastbourne. Great days and fond memories. I doubt many of today’s young supporters will have such memories fifty years from now unfortunately. I must stop reminiscing because some on here will come down on a contributor like a ton of bricks because you look back on what it was like back in the day.
