Hear there's a new range of BSPL sticking plasters being released just in time for Christmas. A five team league is awful. With play-offs even more Mickey Mouse. Big change is needed (has been for years), nobody has the minerals to do it though. Easier to watch the sport die. Why should fans hand over their hard earned when all they get is treated with contempt. Hand over more money for a worse product year on year.9 points

You just don’t get it do you? Yes we should all bow down to the Ipswich way, and have gone bust by April because we’re paying the town’s average salary on one rider every week. You have a great sponsor in Guy Nicholls, and get a good crowd from I’m sure successful promoting, but that doesn’t mean everyone can follow you. Team speedway has levels, the nine teams in the Championship are in that league because the promotors feel that is where they are most sustainable, for the FUTURE OF BRITISH SPEEDWAY. But the Premiership clubs, oh no, Championship clubs must follow them, as they’re saving British speedway, look how healthy and sustainable they are. Birmingham only lost a reported 500K in 2 or 3 years, Oxford couldn’t afford to pay underperforming ‘international superstars’ come the end of the season. Belle Vue lost an absolute fortune as usual, but presumably have someone to bail them out, possibly Council grants? Sheffield put up for sale, Ipswich put up for sale. Lets all down to the Ipswich way, if we did, there wouldn’t be a team sport in this country. Half would fold trying to pay £20K a meeting to a foreign superstar, and the other half would follow the Ipswich promotor and put the club up for sale when they didn’t get their way at a meeting. Who’s buying those clubs? No one with any sense, that’s for sure.7 points

So the 2026 double up league is going to run for the benefit of the riders and to the detriment of Promoters, Fans and the Sport as a whole, I really cannot believe the BSPL or should I say the promoters of the Double up League want to Promote a League of 5 teams, I refuse to call it a Premiership as any League in any Sport that has so few teams can only be described at best as being cobbled together, Double up promoters hang your heads in shame for making the Sport a laughing stock.7 points

If you're changing to one league then that has to be prepared for well before the end of the previous season so at this stage there's no real alternative. Only 5 teams is clearly not good but it was obvious to everyone that the problem was coming so they only have themselves to blame. They just need to somehow get through this year now whilst getting a proper plan in place for 2027 and hope that it's not too late. They've missed several opportunities for a reset and they won't keep coming, time will run out eventually. Planning for a KO Cup with 5 sides doesn't give any confidence they're capable of it though, at the very least you would think they could come up with a fresh idea to replace that.6 points

You are clutching at straws aren’t you, the way you and other Ipswich fans are so desperate for the Championship clubs to fail is absolutely staggering. Now we are just making stuff up to try and prove a point. No championship club so far as I can see post “Official Attendances” so unless you were at every meeting and counting them, which I doubt saying as most Ipswich fans think the standard of racing is so embarrassingly poor they can’t bear to think of it, then I highly doubt that this “Fact” as you’ve presented it can be proven. I also can’t find any “Official Attendance” figures for the grand final either so if you could just point me in the direction of all of the above information please?6 points

You’re coming across as an entitled pillock whether you mean to or not. Virtually all Championship clubs are getting 600 as a poor figure, and upwards of 3k as a higher figure for league meetings, which of course is the reason why none of them are for sale or pulling out the league, coupled with not paying £1K per point for their superstars. Wages should not be 100% of turnover, it’s basic business.5 points

But all the Championship promoters are giving them a standing ovation because without this they were F@cked5 points

Will it bollox, Phil... Even Six teams in a "Top League" of a "National Sport" will look exactly like it looks... ie. A waste of time, and a waste of yet another year that could have seen some sense, and forward planning brought to the sport.. All this will do is reduce crowds further... But. At least riders can double up... So. That's got to be worth paying around thirty quid next year to watch them do it..5 points

Perpaps the BSPA should consult with counterparts in Denmark and Sweden about the possibility of a future European League (Leave Poland out of it). Instead of a PL, the top 4/5 British Teams could compete in a European Competition... Leave the CL and NDL as is... The BSPA should at least consider the idea at the AGM... Might be many reasons why it can't happen???4 points

The year is 2059. Premiership CEO Phil Morris has arrived at the annual AGM to propose a points limit of 12.5 per-team. It’s the 26th season in succession Phil has implemented a points reduction. Leicester boss Stewart Dickson isn’t happy, but the manager of the league’s only other team - also Stewart Dickson - is delighted.4 points

Couldn't agree more, it's an embarrassment and let's be honest it has been for years now. Never known a Sport like it.3 points

Not sure On Bewley being at Belle Vue, but don't think your far out with the other 6. But what a dreadful few months for all of us supporters following the Sport we love, always the last to know anything, but they soon want our money when the season starts. But who knows what Teams will be put together, some will be pleased it's running with 5 Teams, but for me it's a watered down league, that has shambles written all over it.3 points
-
It actually doesn't say anything at all really does it? And is a perfect microcosm of the way the sport is ran.. No names of teams who make up the five suggests even that isn't signed off yet, as you would simply name them wouldn't you..? Just over three months to the start of the season and the best we have is a very vague press release telling us very little concrete information... "Something might happen, but it may not, and it isn't perfect"...3 points

Maybe the 6th team is gonna be made up of guests, then tour various tracks and fields all over the country like a circus to make up the league 😄3 points

Dear Mr Rat The first step on the road to recovery is to own up to and face your failings and I’m pleased you’ve finally recognised not only the nature of your problems but also how pathetic you come across with your rudeness and bullying. I have a list of therapists that I can send you who can help you continue your progress if you feel that would be of interest3 points

Ah, but they are far-sighted! The rise of the economically inactive over-55's and Gen Z's aversion to night clubs and alcohol will mean Monday night becoming the new Saturday night🤫3 points

Not if Poland has anything to do with it. The golden promised land is not going to happen. Those in charge have really lost the plot and who with half a brain is going to want to watch repetitive matches with double uppers on inflated rates screwing the supporters because the TV income has gone south and someone has to make up the financial shortfall. Two occasions, Covid and the current situation gave the sport the opportunity to reinvent itself but what have you got, the same old scenario. It has failed the punter yet again and this time it will implode because no one is going to be fobbed off with this plan. BSPL, you really do not have a clue about your audience and are so far removed from reality by your actions you will fail and regrettably be instrumental in the demise of the sport in this Country. Thankfully we have Poland to fall back on.3 points

Looking at the end of season declarations, Jaimon would have been number one at almost half the tracks. There were only six riders from opposing teams that had a higher away average than Jaimon and two of those have ditched the top league again. He is and has been one of the better away riders. His average was achieved at all the different tracks by using his skill has an excellent rider. Both him and Jason Doyle have almost identical away averages, both are terrific competitors and achieved FIM gold at individual level. Must be an Aussie thing.2 points

In name only, which is why I can't get my head around your [the sport needs the PL] argument. Even if it was one big (and 14 is not that big) league you can call it what you want " the top best ever league in the country ever league... ever"... it's still the top league2 points

The flights happen now though don't they? Which is why I think it is worth at least pursuing... The riders will fly out as they do now, but do it in the same league rather than three separate ones.. Maybe one of the large Scandi companies who have a large amount of businesses over here could get involved in sponsorship?.. Three "small" leagues combining would also lessen the Polish control of the sport... Each of the three leagues seem to just amble along from one year to the next, making constant changes to suit a model that never seems to work, with all getting to the end of the season being some kind of achievement, therefore, why not all collectively increase their profiles through an "International League"?..2 points

I’m amazed how confident they are with 5. Currently my understanding is that there are no bids on the table for Ipswich. Although I stand to be corrected. No news on Sheffield as yet. A new track that doesn’t exist but will be ready for march April time.2 points

I think that is something very worthwhile considering ... Logistically there would need to be some working around riders currently riding for two teams, however, it cannot be beyond the capability of those in charge to sort it surely? Five teams from the UK would make a league of 21 teams.. A minimum 20 home matches.. It would give a boost to Sweden and Denmark too I am sure, given they too have pretty much the same old/same old, every season.. Fixed nights, Monday to Thursday, are made for such a competition... Maybe run with the Danish five rider team format? And add in a number of fixed positions for UK, Swedish and Danish riders, as all three seem to need some young talent coming through.. Might stimulate some TV interest too?2 points

So so true, and despite the reducing crowd numbers, the vocal displeasure by the majority…the lack of national/global interest, including media, still no suggestion of a rethink.2 points

Is it the time to drop the play offs in both leauges to determine the league championd? In my opinion they make all pre play off meetings meaningless, they offer no incentive to fans to support every meeting. Why follow your team away when the possibility of a win means nothing. Think this will also be evident in attendances when supporters have to watch the same team visit possibly 5 or 6 times in the Premiership. Play offs were there for the TV.2 points

This is true, but Flagrag’ description of a great new number 1 who if he can master the track could push him on in the GP’s, describes Bewley to a T. Can’t think of another GP rider that fits that description better. *please don’t mean Jack Holder 🙏🏻2 points

Pretty much what has been discussed openly on here by various posters Belle Vue - Will have their usual side with couple of riders that need to up their game to be title contenders Leicester- Will have a a real strength in depth feel to them with hopefully strong Rising star( Northampton pending ) will need all the team to be on it to be in with a chance in play offs Kings Lynn- Finally have their No1 and have built a strong team which could be title challengers but have weakest reserves but one could be a future British or world champion given time Ipswich- All change from title winning team with just a couple staying with a familiar face or two returning but will have a great new No1 won’t can master the track may push him on further in the GPs Sheffield- New part owner a very successful businessman but is well known in Speedway especially at Sheffield with strong family connections to the sport . Team wise they will be strong just trying to sort their top end at the moment but will be clear once a rider or two make up their mind about riding in UK. Again expect a couple of familiar faces to return to the Tigers2 points

If so will that change the position re the sale of Ipswich The reason for sale was given, at least in part, to not being prepared to race in a 5 team Premiership If it is 5 not including Ipswich could it prompt a U turn from Chris?? I'm not convinced that's going to happen Still more questions than answers at this stage2 points
