  1. Just quite sad really, I’m sure many like me log on to see what’s happening in the speedway world. But have to scroll through pages of nonsense.

  2. Anyone that knows the facts knows the Glasgow promotion are not lacking in ambition. They just aren't stupid enough to risk their business propping up a failing Premiership in 2026. They do have ambitious plans, and have made them public, to grow Glasgow speedway but at a steady and sustainable pace. The same way any sensible businessman builds their business.

  3. Every business should have its own business plan, but if the collective business model of the industry they work in is failing, then its going to fail despite their individual efforts.

  4. All this just highlights the reason I have a certain "rat" on ignore. Trouble is, I still have to see the rubbish he posts 'cos people still quote the idiot. Please STOP quoting him, all your doing is feeding him. It's what he wants. If everyone ignores him he will eventually go away - unless the Mods ban him permanently of course.

  5. No, issues go back years, semi pro and a rebuild.

  6. That'll be the same Ipswich that, after the Promotion/Relegation Play-off with Newcastle in 2010, decided to drop down to the second-tier? Same promoter who has now decided to sell as he is disillusioned with the Premiership in 2025/6?

  7. For me what’s happening now is another missed opportunity just like in 2020 to reset the sport on a better path

  8. I’ve said it a few times; the energy on this forum is crazy.😂 Last night’s exchange was just one example. A few days ago, someone called a Poole fan a ”w*nker” and a ”parasite” for absolutely no reason. Simple questions or attempts at engagement become hostile for absolutely no reason whatsoever. You can disagree with someone without resorting to name-calling or insults. The strangest thing is that those you meet at tracks are salt of the earth people.

  10. Interesting take, I can honestly say that Tom Brennan has never reminded me of NP in the slightest. I like Brennan, I think he can get better.

  11. Too nice - they are used to having w@nkers at No1

  12. Agree with this. A rider on the up and improving every season. What's not to want

  13. Berwick need to learn the Bastian Borke lesson from last season if they are really thinking about re-signing Danyon Hume.

  14. I know it has been mentioned on here but Max Perry riding at Berwick as a home rider will add a point onto his starting average.

  15. I think you mean.... "Whilst not completely ideal, it is fantastic news that we still retain top flight Speedway in the UK, and, I am sure that all Promoters, Sponsors and Fans will be looking forward to watching, once again, another fantastic season of exciting racing, as the best teams in the land go head to head against each other to win the highest domestic honour in UK Speedway"...

  16. Makes me laugh when Robbo is on, great rider but... whenever he's asked anything about a meeting or a rider, he's never seen it or them 😂 Love it when Crabby is on, no nonsense as a rider and manager, no nonsense as a pundit

  17. I’m starting to wonder if you two run British Speedway.

  18. So what is your solution to the big problem then? Because Ipswich’s model isn’t it, virtually every other club doesn’t have a Guy Nicholls and can’t afford to run at that level, see Birmingham and Oxford. The sport needs to be sustainable for all clubs not just a chosen few, the 9 Championship clubs are making it sustainable at that level, some better than others no doubt, Poole are proof of that. If it becomes one league of a certain standard that is sustainable for all clubs that are currently running then I personally would much rather that than see clubs go to the wall each year trying to prop up the current model which quite clearly is broken. Speedway isn’t a mainstream sport in this country anymore, it doesn’t have big backing or a big tv deal, it barely makes a dent on national TV these days and sponsors are often just fans with business. Until you come up with a solution for all of that then unfortunately you can’t sustain a top tier league that pays the likes of Emil or Doyley whether Ipswich fans/promoters like it or not. The whole thing needs taken back to the drawing board and started again, the current model is just sleepwalking us to the end of the sport in this country.

  19. You just don’t get it do you? Yes we should all bow down to the Ipswich way, and have gone bust by April because we’re paying the town’s average salary on one rider every week. You have a great sponsor in Guy Nicholls, and get a good crowd from I’m sure successful promoting, but that doesn’t mean everyone can follow you. Team speedway has levels, the nine teams in the Championship are in that league because the promotors feel that is where they are most sustainable, for the FUTURE OF BRITISH SPEEDWAY. But the Premiership clubs, oh no, Championship clubs must follow them, as they’re saving British speedway, look how healthy and sustainable they are. Birmingham only lost a reported 500K in 2 or 3 years, Oxford couldn’t afford to pay underperforming ‘international superstars’ come the end of the season. Belle Vue lost an absolute fortune as usual, but presumably have someone to bail them out, possibly Council grants? Sheffield put up for sale, Ipswich put up for sale. Lets all down to the Ipswich way, if we did, there wouldn’t be a team sport in this country. Half would fold trying to pay £20K a meeting to a foreign superstar, and the other half would follow the Ipswich promotor and put the club up for sale when they didn’t get their way at a meeting. Who’s buying those clubs? No one with any sense, that’s for sure.

  20. Watched him as a junior at Eastbourne, had that broken leg which had a lot of complications, he lost his Mum from an early age, I Sponsored him in his early days and went through the Eastbourne times when he didn't get paid, like all riders, by Ian Jordan. You could tell as a junior, he was a talent.

  22. No, it wasn't for no reason at all. It was because SteveLyric is constantly a pain in the arse on this forum thinking he is above everyone else because he slings some money at Poole speedway. He spends a huge amount of time making a twit of himself on other topics and trying his best to cause trouble. Ask the Plymouth fans. As for me calling Steve Shovlar a parasite, anyone who still communicates with a convicted paedophile knowing what they have done is a parasite in my eyes. Shovlar was liking SCBs posts on this forum when he came back on trying to defend his past actions. Ive also seen tweets being liked between the two since he got released from prison as well. Hope that clears things up , I always enjoyed reading your posts too.

  23. Also the same Ipswich that spent the 2000's in the doldrums of the EL. Year in year out poor sides which led them to eventually drop. Some fans have short memories. For what its worth, the turn around since those days for Ipswich has been remarkable. But it wasnt long ago things were very different for them.

  26. 100% aye. Be massively shocked if Berwick dont win the treble next season. Can see PK adding at least 2 pts to his ave, Victor should add at least say 3? The peoples champion Danyon could rival PK for the number 1 bib as well? Smith maybe an outside shout for partnering Bewley for GB come the S.O.N? And all of this on top of free parking, dreamy stuff.

  27. Don't think they had any choice, as I have pointed out over protected nights in the UK. It was way too late to change the league structure this year, hopefully they will work on a plan in place for 2027 but they have backed themselves into a corner with riders doubling up and the thought of loosing the protected race nights would loose even More riders.

  28. I am quite surprised that the viewing figures are still really low for 360. I have mentioned to several people I know who go to speedway. All the pundits I think have given a great insight into the sport which can hopefully stop supporters or lay people from drawing their own conclusions. As I have said before as an Ipswich supporter the last few years have been absolutely fantastic but now the sport MUST come first and for my money it should have been one league.

  29. Just think of the excitement it would bring... Plus... Team riding by yourself.... And maybe even Guesting for yourself... Six points for a win would certainly boost the riders pay packet too.. Ticks a lot of boxes, for me...

  30. I love this podcast and Dean and Crabby are my favourite pundits because they know the sport inside out and have good common sense ideas.

  31. I'm not sure promotion and relegation is a pre-requisite in preference to a membership competition open to those promotions who can satisfy a strict common criteria somewhat like the NFL providing a meaningful competition featuring the very best of available riders and with it, the best pay for the riders and kudos & financial reward for the promotion provided by significant league sponsorship and the very best of multi media coverage. This most probably would, as you say need a restart. Regrettably, I fear this will not happen for the simple reason that a restart would involve immediate and far reaching changes (because we're not talking evolution here but revolution) which the promoters would not agree to if those changes negatively effected there own business in deference to the development and future well being of the sport. As an example. I have connection to the marketing/sponsorship/brand development management of a major insurance company with an annual budget of £400m (and increasing) for UK sport. I know that the first and foremost criteria for them to consider UK speedway would be the stability of the promotions, not necessarily from a financial position (they appreciate that is what their money contributes toward) but the guarantee of future longevity. Being mindful of their due diligence procedure they would quickly determine that in recent years a good number of stadiums have closed & teams lost for reasons beyond the influence of the speedway authorities. Consequently they would want to know which promotions can and to what extent guarantee the continued availability of their stadiums. So two relevant questions we should consider as starters are- 1. Which clubs can be reasonably sure they will have continued access to their current stadium over the next three and five years. i.e. Belle Vue, Leicester, Kings Lynn, Glasgow & Oxford to name a few. 2. Which current stadiums that host speedway have in the last five years been linked to possible development of other actions effecting the possibility of speedway continuing at the venue? i.e Poole & Sheffield. If a team falls into this category, they would instantly be discounted and removed from inclusion in a top flight league - the only concept they would entertain. Just to be clear, the circumstance I am citing above is for a restart (revolution) which the company I refer to may be interested in rather than an "evolutionary" approach along the lines of the BSPL saying lets start the journey by agreeing a vision and a plan (we can dream) of where we want to get to. In which case the position of the insurance company would be along the lines of "great, good luck and feel free to come back to us when you get there".

  32. I accept that it won’t be at present Championship level, but we need to go back to basics .Present crowd levels at majority of Clubs tell me that.We are a minority sport in UK these days mainly run by enthusiasts with money.

  36. Riders need to guest as well as double up too, don't forget. The only reason two leagues exist is because they need it to, remember.. Heaven forbid they have to get a job outside speedway, like so many did for the majority of the decades when the sport was popular...

  37. Fair enough but I'm just trying to think outside the box. Boy, does Speedway need it. My suggestion is not perfect by any means but I'm sure there's ways they could work around it. All I'm saying is that the sport needs a new direction, a new impetus and more variety. At the moment it's same old same old and needs something different to get new fans in. Even bringing back the Gold Helmet would be a good start. A decent sponsor, some decent publicity and put it out there that there's bad blood between the two contestants (akin to boxing etc). Remember the Golden Helmet match races between Carter and Penhall, now that really did catch the public's imagination!

  38. I agree with you think Morris is the only one signed so far that will definitely up his average, maybe PK slightly, can't see any improvement on the other two (of the most sought after signatures)😂

  39. If those were the numbers, and I was one of the two riders.. I would make sure it went to three races each time, at the home and away legs.. And the decider would also be three races, at a neutral track (like it used to)... Who wins? Well they both do... Kerching...

  44. I’m afraid I just don’t see how the Premiership can survive beyond 2026. Can’t see where the magical Teams are going to appear from.Dont see a Championship Team that can pay the riders demands without bankrupting themselves. The sport has to go back to basics in UK.

  45. It's a typical Oxford Mail sensationalist headline. The £2m debt mentioned is actually £2m in creditors and the figure used is from 2023. Direct quote "...the last update on Companies House stating it had creditors worth £2,005,715 at the end of 2023." Speedway at Oxford is in no danger.

  49. I managed to get a chat with my local postman yesterday as he delivered a parcel and he readily confirmed what a lot suspected that the sorting offices are holding mail back and then releasing it for big deliveries on certain days, they call it streaming where they save mail up for delivery to save them doing the rounds for just the odd letter in a street, I am not sure how that fits with first class postage rates or promises but he readily accepts it’s happening and causing them long days sometimes when it’s heavy as it is this time of year., interestingly I still haven’t received my star this week which is somewhat unusual but it does happen occasionally.
