  1. Baffles me that everywhere seems to want something the size of BV when Somerset, Redcar and Scunthorpe sizes produce good racing and would be far easier to squeeze in somewhere.

  5. Can't see it personally. Made Owlerton his own last season, think at 2 he'll still prove to be a real trump card at home. On the road may be a different story.

  6. More like "dictatorship" than directorship??

  7. It does sadden me to read when some people state they wouldn’t attend any track where he is riding. By all means you can choose not to support him personally or write to your clubs promoter with your views but if too many people vote with their feet then it could have awful long term consequences. The sport is on its knees and we’ve lost far too many tracks with many more making a loss, let’s not lose any more by turning our backs, the other 6 riders in the team still need your support and the clubs as a whole.

  8. I was listening to a non league football owner/chairman on talksport the other morning and the tale he was telling regarding the attempt at selling his own football club was very similar to the tale of the sale of Speedway clubs, just lots of time wasters coming forward and people doing it for their own hubris and failing to come up with the money when the time came to actually buy the club.

  9. This post from you flagrag is looking stranger by the day. How on earth could you claim to know the Ipswich team in early December when there clearly wasn’t a sale imminent, and Louis was off? Who had put this ā€œteamā€ together?? You’ve even gone as far as saying there is a great new GP rider at number 1! Who was/is it??

  10. That’s the problem when you issue these timeframes. To be fair to him, he did say he was ā€œhopefulā€ that a sale would be announced, not WOULD be announced. But when you issue these timeframes and that then elapses with no announcement, that then just increases the worry. He's going to have to update Ipswich folk now or SHOULD update the fans I should say. Whether that be simply talks still ongoing but taking longer than expected, or the deal is dead like the discussions with the previous two interested parties. There’s only five days until the re-arranged AGM, so we’re getting very close to the end game in any case.

  11. Genuine question, would it be viable to build a permanent stand around the 3rd / 4th bend so that they don’t have to spend tens of thousands for the temp stand, thus improving facilities and the look of the stadium. I know lots of people (including me) have light banter across the teams we support but if it is the home of British speedway it’s in the best interest for Britain to have an even better stadium, it would complete the look too IMO, just continue the stadium around the bend to connect the two stands, or is there reason they can’t?

  18. Or maybe like Workington good track based on belle Vue and facilities that grow as each season comes along

  19. Garrity spent far less time inside than Nelson Mandela did. He must've been a proper wrong 'un. Though to be fair, prison must've worked. He never reoffended, and they let him run a country.

  21. Are you saying they bribed someone? Do you have proof? Who would they have bribed? The judge? The jury? Don’t forget the case went to a full Crown Court trial. After what you have stated as fact and if someone accuses you of defamation and seeks compensation, do you have any evidence to defend your remarks? My understanding is that they paid their lawyers and barristers to defend them. And that’s it. If you took a moment to research the case, and the court transcripts are probably a matter of public record, then you will understand the accusations and the defence. And why the verdict was the correct one.

  25. How could we forget Squire (aka Split) Waterman . A character he was. A pretty good speedway rider. šŸ™‚ Think the key point you correctly state is AFTER Speedway. Lived out a quiet life in sunny Spain šŸ™‚ Think the Vintage Speedway Magazine did an interview with him in Spain.

  27. No, he would of carried on at Birmingham had the council give him free reign over the stadium, his dream now is cradley but for the time being that is staying a dream, my own opinion for what’s it’s worth is if the bspl actually encouraged tolley with something he might do it, but they just call up say would you run ****** or ******, it’s going to cost you Ā£??? And when he says no they don’t call him again, like they treat him like a cash cow

  32. But wasn't this after the riders involved paid heavily to clear their names? That doesn't suggest they were not guilty to me.

  34. Although, Garrity also spent more time in prison than Hitler, which makes you wonder…. Maybe he’s literally Hitler. Page 6. I thank you.

  35. Six pages in & he's been compared to Rolf Harris & Adam Johnson, two convicted pedophiles. You couldn't make it up. What's the odds by page 10, he's "literally Hitler"? Some really need to give there respective heads a wobble...

  36. Not strictly Poole related, but glad to see Ben Cook still in British speedway with him back at Kingslynn next year. If Poole were to ever move back up would certainly hope he’d be one of the first names on the team sheet
