  1. Firstly it wasn’t me who mentioned the podium it was MikeBV talking about his son, I just quoted him and I can remember last year someone making a post about it on FB but it isn’t about the podium it’s about all the unnecessary little things, the podium just happens to be one of them and it’s so unnecessary and cheap to fix ,your later point is valid about them entering the stadium but I’m talking about people who may see it on tv or on YouTube or wherever as their first impression, something I saw a couple of years back on tv was I think the speedway of nations and everytime the camera panned round to the pits there were around 30 people who were standing around talking or drinking tea and it looked like a branch of primark, totally unprofessional and shambolic so I messaged the promotion and FIM and told them and the next day there was nobody standing there in the pits, it’s the little things that matter, I understand the sport hasn’t got a pot to piss in but a lot of little things cost peanuts

  2. Can’t believe that someone who seems to trawl through posts on this forum looking to pick a fight is telling someone else to calm down 😂😂

  3. Only just read last weeks copy of the Speedway Star and they do a two page spread on Northampton... Mark Lemon is quoted as saying that they needed a sixth team for the "integrity and credibility" of the sport... I do hope when he used those words, he managed to do it with a straight face... Fair play if he did....

  4. Lots of matches over the next 2 weeks which might be live streamed or video’s afterwards. We ( mainly Stewmac) will try and put up when known.

  5. Literally, seven figures spent on riders, (who Average Joe Public will never have heard of), yet hardly anything on professional PR, Media output, and Event Management.... Absolutely crackers!!!!

  6. Maybe we could build a podium out of the buy,a brick wall, it would give me something else to bang my head against while you continue to miss the point

  7. Oh my,someone DOES need to calm down, another one that accepts and makes excuses for mediocrity and poor practices and wonders why we are where we are and because you obviously need a little help the post I made was sarcasm

  8. I wasn't trying to suggest there's a problem moving forward, just saying this weekend is off as I know a champ rider was going to practice too. Good luck to Leicester, hope it's a good season for them.

  9. Unfortunately due to the upcoming fuel crisis 😧 I don't think many people will be prepared to travel to Northampton or anywhere else for that matter

  10. Lots of sparing matches scheduled over the next 2 weeks. If we( Stewmac mainly) get notification of any that will be streamed or video’s that appear after they will be put on this thread.

  11. I'm sure that as long as they let us know what's happening a few days before that first fixture, the masses will drop everything... change all their plans... and head straight to Northampton...

  13. From the main stand... B Block... You could see that some were unpainted, but some were painted blue, maybe official GKN pallets?.... (But don't quote me on that, they may just have been GKN copies).. I will win the 50/50 draw (if they do it), at the GP and confirm details when I am on the centre green and feedback to everyone..

  14. He's also getting track time at Redcar tomorrow night (Fri 20 Mar) as he represents the Diamonds Select side in the Tyne/Tees Trophy meeting.

  15. The meeting on Saturday features BriSCA F1 and F2 Stock Cars plus the V8 HotStox which are followed by supporters who travel the length and breath of the country following them. They are also the type of people who might be interested in Speedway as well as Stock Cars so it would be a very good time to show them what is happening.

  16. the best kept sporting secret ever . opening night massive crowd of people who support other teams . 3 weeks in and tiny crowd ..they should be marketing it on social media , give the team a name at least theres plenty of Speedway fans internet savvy enough to create a razamatazz , Speedway has far too long relied on its dwindling fanbase to advertise it , and this is a classic exmaple . failing to prepare is preparing to fail !!!

  17. Be a great opportunity to start up some bikes and promote the new team to current customers of the stadium. Give out flyers as people enter the stadium. But we all know what is planned by the BSPL. Absolutely nothing.

  18. According to the article in the Star they have had specialist help with the more difficult areas of damage, as well as the regular track staff and an army of volunteers. The general gist of the article was that everyone is working very hard to make the circuit ready in time for league racing. I'm sure if they could have run the youth training this weekend they would have. I have to say that there have many comments about the extent of the damage caused. There wasn't just "a few bent poles". The starting gate was destroyed and there was mention today of damage to the transponder wiring.

  19. It's far from ideal and hopefully the reasons for that will become clear but personally I wouldn't rule out going somewhere a month before the first fixture. The main thing British Speedway does wrong is the lack of information even if there isn't much to tell and rhats happening here unfortunately.

  22. No point in trying to point out what I’m trying to say because your just not getting it, to a degree it doesn’t matter what your grievances are with the sport no matter how much they are valid because you’re already there,,it’s how do we move outside your little bubble and attract a new audience that is vital to the future of the sport and the world we live in is very superficial and first impressions are everything, it doesn’t matter what the podium is made of pallets or whatever but the causal viewer doesn’t need to see it because thats their perception formed before a bike is even on a track, try looking past your own nose

  23. You would have thought that an exciting new venture... a new track for our "action packed" sport... would be something to be shouted from the rooftops... brought to the attention of all and sundry... but instead it's a well guarded secret that's being kept under wraps for some reason... Makes no sense... unless perhaps there are still problems that need to be resolved before they can officially say that they are actually running...

  27. Exactly.... The other night at the PCMT was probably the most Aces fans attendance that they will have all year, except for the play offs... No "first night back" feel about the meeting at all, no promotion of their first actual team meeting either... They do a 50/50 draw that got the winner 400+ quid... I would have raffled off a season ticket... I reckon most Aces fans there in the crowd (1300?) would have spent a fiver... Then do another at the first couple of actual meetings... Or do something like a £500 holiday voucher.. Something is needed on the nights to engage the crowd, with the racing just being part of it... And, do it right, and you can make a fair few quid...

  28. And they were correct. At the time of your whinging that no promoting was going on, no deal was struck! So you were whinging for the sake of it. You’re like an old bloody woman with your constant bleating! Ok, now a deal has been done questions can be asked, but if you take the time to read the press release in the Speedway Star, it’s quite obviously a huge rush job to get everything up and running in time for tapes up. There’s an awful lot to do, and very little time to do it but things ARE going on in the background. You were exactly the same on the Ipswich stuff. Demanding updates and answers on a regular basis, until Richard Coleman explained fully why those updates weren’t forthcoming much to his own frustrations. I bet you were one of those kids that hunted around the house for Christmas presents because you couldn’t wait until the big day to see what you’d actually got 🙄 Calm down ffs.

  29. And right there is why the sport is on its arse because you justify mediocrity, it matters, the little things all add up, if you want the sport to expand to the outside world it matters,?every little thing matters no matter if you think it doesn’t, at least Phil morris understands this, first impressions matter more now than ever

  31. Perhaps, but by leaving it so late he has robbed someone the opportunity to plan ahead to ride the GP season and get sponsors ready for the campaign. Actually I blame whoever thought it was a good idea to offer him a wildcard, his GP form for two seasons was average (at best) and that was before the injury. He really should not have been offered a place.

  32. The Brafield team of the 1950's and 60's were called the Badgers. Given that Badgers are mostly seen dead on their ar$es they do share some other similarities with those who run British Speedway. They have very poor vision and they are creatures of habit who will follow the same paths for generations despite the dangers and do not adapt well to changes in their territory. Badgers would be ideal. All we need is a Bodger to manage the mashed potatoes.

  34. And in two posts we have the feeling of a large majority of Berwick fans in a nutshell. We are happy we’ve got speedway and who cares about the outcome. There is no craving for success despite the distinct lack of it especially the fact we haven’t made the play offs in over a decade. So why bother trying to compete with Poole or Glasgow or anyone else for that matter? I absolutely wouldn’t blame the promotion for having that viewpoint if this is the fan feedback.

  35. I think Berwick did an excellent job putting together the team they ended up with. Injuries and being let down had the bandits backs to the wall from before the start of the season. We might not have made the playoffs but the promotion and management put together an exciting and entertaining team that I and the other fans in the stands that I spoke to enjoyed watching.
