Like Speedway when the racing is good it can be brilliant, when it's bad not so much. There are a few DTRA meetings each year and worth a visit if you are in travelling distance. Entry for spectators is usually free and there are a lot of races from little kids through old blokes on vintage bikes to the Pro class who are seriously fast. Maybe if the baby offset engines weren't so bloody fickle and everyone rode an engine that was more flexible, for want of a better term, less meetings would be called off as the bikes would be able to cope in conditions that varied a bit

This is where we are at nowadays in the UK unfortunately. Riders just aren't interested in a wet track here when they can earn many multiples in Poland the next weekend. There is a 70-80% chance of showers all afternoon tomorrow and while they may miss Lynn clubs would rather not risk what we had at the Foxhole last Thursday I guess. The days of boilersuits and sawdust are long, long gone.

Agree,I travel 65mls to a home meet so I am reluctant to travel if there is any doubt.

This is one of the reasons the sport is on its a#se, slightest risk of bad weather and the club will call it off early, wasnt a problem back in the day, mind you back then the riders didn't have the power they have now regarding the track being a bit iffy and them not fancy riding on it.

I agree they will and that’s fine, do whatever people want to do and can afford but it’s not for me, my Mrs and the lad are going but I’ll just watch it on tv,(paid the full price but are going to car share with a couple of friends so halves the price) I want more for my money on a GP and belle vue doesn’t deliver that imo

On Tuesday, while fitting a new engine, I was struck directly in the eye by an exhaust spring under load. I was taken to the eye emergency department at Bournemouth Hospital, where I was diagnosed with a deep traumatic corneal abrasion. The injury has left me with a bloodshot eye that is light sensitive and has been causing headaches. At the moment, all I can really do is rest, but there are improvements each day. I’m aiming to be back for Wednesday’s match against Oxford, and I can’t thank Ian and Nicola Bell enough for all their help and support during this situation.

Newish speedway fan here. And sad to see it decline. Would it not be an option to merge the Premiership and Championship into one proper national league or would it not work? It would mean more teams and more variety.

One of the most interesting things at the moment is to watch the progress of Cairns and Rushen…both big futures ..I’ve seen a lot of them both at Premiership level this year and I’d put Rushen way ahead at the moment and when his gating gets more consistent , and it will, I’d say he has a far bigger future…Cairns has struggled really but seems to have put in 2 really good meetings since his last Belle Vue meeting so it will be interesting to see how he goes…it’s good for each other to be team mates I think to spur each other on

I think that sort of logic certainly has merit however like everything I’d imagine it would be open to abuse. You might find underperforming riders being “injured” more frequently.

This conversation shows the issue of guests not being decided by averages, you think Foord & Lambert are similar, I think Lambert is clearly better. If it's not worked out by averages, who decides who can & can't guest? Interesting comment about Lambert's home form, I wouldn't be against using away averages to decide who can guest away from home. In an ideal world teams should sign replacements (even temporary) rather than use guests. Currently the rules don't really encourage that at all, that's one of the reasons why I don't mind teams being weaker with guests.

Something I always see in zmarzlik is his body language and he is like a kid who has won his first ever race, once he crossed that finish line he was bouncing on his footrests (which are gold incase you didn’t notice ) you can see the buzz he gets from winning, you would think he would be used to it by now but clearly every race is the same buzz as his first

Update on former Berwick rider Connor Coles posted on social media today. Lovely news from Kirsty Coles about Connor A little update on Connor Connor has now been transferred from Stoke to Derby and has officially started neurological rehabilitation in a specialist centre. Although there is still a long recovery journey ahead, this week has brought some really positive steps forward. Connor is becoming much more aware and engaged, communicating more, remembering conversations and slowly getting more like himself each day. He is now eating food orally again with thickened drinks, has started rehab exercises including the exercise bike, and is walking short distances with support and a frame. Seeing these small milestones after everything he has been through has meant so much to us all. There are still many challenges ahead with speech, swallowing, fatigue and weakness down his left side, and recovery will take time, but we finally feel like Connor is taking important steps in the right direction. Thank you again to everyone for all the continued love, support, messages and kindness shown to Connor and our family

I think there is definitely a market for streaming at the right price... One of Speedways weaknesses also can be it's strength... Due to the team model it uses, you don't have the same tribalism that other team sports can engender, however the sport does have a large proportion of followers that generically follow the sport, and very closely.. Meaning any meeting, regardless of the two teams involved, will attract their attention.. I watch Swedish and Polish meetings on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, but won't lay out £14 or so for a UK stream.. Make it £7-£10 and I probably would, at least once a week... In the Speedway Star, Gerry Facenna mentions how surprised he was by how many fans from overseas have purchased their streams.. It could be a big market if the price point is set well, and clubs don't just think that the fans of both teams are their target market, (or might not attend and buy the stream instead).. Glasgow say they only streamed due to crowd increases in the stadium, and, once again, are using their own fans to help drive bigger crowds with free tickets.. That's the key... If a promoter thinks "I won't stream as my fans will stay at home and watch", then they either are not promoting well enough, not providing enough entertainment, or the competitions they run are not engaging enough people... Do their day job properly, and streaming should be the icing on the cake..

I'd disagree, it gets very tight and there is a lot of pushing and shoving at times. 12 riders go into the first corner and sometimes the fastest are starting from 20 yards behind the front guys and have to get through any way they can. It's different to Speedway and brakes are used but that doesn't make it gentle any more than MX is (and yes I've done a fair bit of both and had a go at Speedway even if I wasn't very good)

The entire speedway community is following the latest news regarding Patryk Budniak's health. As we've learned, the Gniezno rider has already undergone another surgery. This time, it involved his lower limbs. Importantly, the surgery went according to plan, and the patient's condition is slowly stabilising. Today (Wednesday) mark three days since the horrific accident in Gniezno. The young rider was airlifted to a hospital in Poznań. There, he underwent complex spinal surgery the very first night. The first, somewhat more optimistic news began to emerge on Tuesday. A series of further tests revealed no further injuries beyond those previously diagnosed, which involved the spine, pelvis, and legs. "The patient's lower limb surgery has been completed. It lasted three hours. Doctors say it went according to plan, with no complications. This is good news. The patient's condition is slowly stabilising, but he is still in the intensive care unit and placed in a medically induced coma. The timing of his awakening will be determined by doctors, who are constantly monitoring his condition," Zuzanna Pankros, spokesperson for the Poznań hospital, told po-bandzie.com.pl
