  1. The riders wages demands at Championship level are really a major problem but that will never be resolved now.Crowds certainly don’t cover the costs nowadays at most track in UK.Workington is a brilliant set up,shame if that going to be lost to League. The appalling fixture planning (again to suit riders needs) is another factor.Regular fixtures needed to keep fans interested.IMO

  2. It's hilarious how its always 'we were massively weakened' when the guests don't work out yet when ringers score big points its never 'we were massively strengthened'.

  3. Bloody drones. Show replays with drones if they must, but not during the race.

  4. Ironic really that everyone has been moaning that that kind of rider and excitement has become extinct and it’s now become boring with riders with no character, we get one and people want him chucked out of the sport 😂

  5. It's an interesting interview with JD, he's always been an honest guy. So has basically just told it how it is. Might get missed but he said that the club is in no danger at this present time, but I can totally see why it wouldn't be sustainable long term to run next season and beyond. I heard an averaged figure that the club is losing per meeting and although not ideal is probably pitance compared to what loss Sheffield and some Premiership clubs are running at. IMO it is more a problem with certain factors out of our hands. The UK cost of living, rising costs of running a meeting and compounded by the British Speedway logic as a whole, when I look around the Arena the crowd levels don't strike me as that bad, the number of sponsorship boards is remarkable, crowd levels are probably what I would expect given what we are and where we are, and the fact we don't live in a pre-90's (pre-digital) age anymore, which is often forgotten on here. Big changes are needed, and promotors like Mark Lemon need to get their head out of their arses and stop believing that a Premiership model with GP riders is sustainable for the good of British Speedway, and think of the bigger picture for every speedway club to survive, that in itself does more damage than anything I believe, it is proven time and time again that the 2nd tier racing is the most competitive and exciting league IMO. 5 man teams would be a must for me for starters, and for the Comets it's amazing how much of a diference the crowd is when we face Glasgow, Redcar, Edinburgh etc. so more localised speedway would help. Fans still seem to travel in numbers to away meetings from what i've seen, and Comets fans certainely repay the favour, there was loads that travelled to Redcar recently for example.

  9. I don't agree with the stick people might be giving Cami for yesterday. If I were to pick one thing, it would be waiting until heat 12 for the tactical substitute. I'd like to have seen it in heat 11 because waiting is a bit of a dangerous game and effectively says you're hoping you don't do well in the meantime (because then you wouldn't be able to use it!) I'd have put Bomber in heat 11. It worked out though, so it wasn't a bad move, but I do think it's an unnecessary risk. I also think Bomber is better for the team at 3 than 5. I think he works better with a more established partnership, which is possible at 3 but not at 5. I like giving him a solid pairing for three rides and I think it's worked out really well with Kevin. Kevin averaged 8 over his home meetings in July, whilst paired with Bomber who scored a paid max in all three matches. Of all the possible issues, that's not one of them. Leon is best rider by averages this season and so putting him at 5 shouldn't be a problem, and I don't think it has been. 35+1 from 15 rides at 5 suggests it's been of no hindrance (and before anyone points out his third places in heats 13/15, points are worth exactly the same, no matter which heat you score them in - there's nothing magical about those heats). The issue is the other four. 9+1 from 12 rides at #1 in July is a massive part of it. That's unfortunate. Sam and Freddy have had a couple of better meetings recently, but neither were great last night. We need to see more of their better sides. And Mario... 😐 That signing just hasn't paid off. It was a very risky one. It looked like he was signed off the back of one good meeting and that wasn't a great idea. He was always billed to be something he's not. He's probably better than he has shown, but his home form particularly has been abysmal. Maybe he should have practiced more.

  13. That was entertaining and a perfect example of how good the racing can be and it was good to hear the national anthem at long last. Just a pity that the media are not interested in the UK. Now it is a three horse race let’s keep fingers crossed for Robert next week. I hope he does not sit back and just accept his qualification for 2027 when he is so close to upsetting the odds. Thanks to all the riders tonight who made it such a good meeting.

  16. Woryna might not be for people who are nervous, but I think he adds an edge to the sport and I like to watch him. If he's out of order, then he needs excluding. Too many accept hard chargers and let them through. Good tough riders won't let it happen.

  20. Now this really does deserve a whinge and has been one of my biggest bugbears for many years. It’s a problem across the board unfortunately not just Kings Lynn. Some are better than others, but not by much. It just shows a complete disregard for your paying customers and is extremely lazy.

  23. I mentioned on another thread I read an article on UK music festivals recently and outside of the ten massive events the rest are struggling with the article quoting a drop from an average of 1,000 events a year pre-covid to 500 ish now. The reasons quoted were just like speedway the same acts seen to often, cost of staging the events gone up massively since covid this led to large ticket price increases which punters no longer view as value for money, punters preferring events held in footy stadiums as better facilities than using blocked porta loos in fields. Stories from promoters who ran the events who had been making bigger and bigger losses year on year until they couldn't afford to continue.

  27. No but in 10 home meetings this season only TWO sides have visited with a full 1-7…… what goes around come around … Poole even rode Oxford last night who were missing 2 heat leaders When you went to Edinburgh they had no Dan T Tonight Harrison scoring what Cook usually does and pleas don’t count Bowes is a 5 point reserve lol … Wood with 3 plus 1 doing as well as Bowes would

  43. Attendance for this week’s second leg of the KO Cup at Leicester appeared to be around 2,500, with a strong mix of travelling Witches fans, supporters from other current and former tracks, and a sizeable Leicester contingent. This is surely the kind of crowd Premier League promoters should be aiming for as an average attendance. Yes, there was a trophy at stake, even if the tie had largely been decided after the first leg, however, the meeting was also shown on BSN, which many blame for lower attendance figures. Looking ahead to 2027, I hope the sport’s top level moves beyond “hobbyist” promoters whose survival plan is simply to do nothing. Instead, we see the continual emergence of profit-driven promoters developing a cohesive strategy for growth to include better top end riders, far less doubling up, a clear distinction between Premier and Championship clubs which results in an “Elite” competition comprehensively promoted every week to generate greater and wider media interest to attract significant sponsorship opportunities for both riders and clubs. As I believe the initiative to make this happen is already work in progress, yes I am very much interested in 2027 and beyond.

  45. It all goes back to the size of the prize... Crap racing or great racing? Both would get crowds if the competitions themselves held some enticement... Running a team sport with minimal jeopardy, consequence and rewards just gives an impression of going through the motions to put "some/any Speedway out", regardless of relevance, or credibility.... Promoters will then scratch their heads as to why fans (many of whom still closely follow the sport), are not engaged enough to bother visiting... "If the fans don't come then I will have to close" isn't a threat nowadays, given so many haven't got any emotional attachment to teams anymore, and what is served up isn't being missed one iota by these people...
