  1. If the SCB have a picture confirming the back wheel did actually go over the line, I also think Scunthorpe should be handed the trophy, it just seems a hollow victory now

  2. Isn't it refreshing to have had these two matches, each with packed stadiums, and no back-biting or moaning from any direction? Two big -- huge, by today's standards -- travelling supports, no complaints about refereeing or accusations about team tactics, just great backing for their riders and appreciation for the opposition. Well done everybody!

  3. In Speedway the line belongs to the infield - on the line is off the track and should result in exclusion

  4. Perhaps all tracks should have a curb around the inside of the track, would stop any wheels going over the line

  5. I think the SCB have poured fuel on the flames of this debate unnecessarily. It is clear from what they say that they considered the interpretation of the said law before deciding it had been breached. Why not just say that the rule contained a degree of ambiguity and undertake to define it better going forward. That would at least give the referee some justification for making the decision that he did. As it is they have implied, at least, that the referee made a clear mistake but the rules don't allow a retrospective change in the result. The referee will now be pilloried when in fact inherent in the SCB statement is the fact that they had to review the rule before reaching the decision that a breach occurred. The upshot now is that (apart from Poole supporters) there will forever be a massive asterisk against who was the 2026 Championship League Champion.

  6. They’re the best team in the league and finished well ahead of my beloved Lions in the regular season. We all love the play offs, but the team finishing top of the pile when everyone has played everyone really ought to be champions. That goes for any sport.

  7. His back wheel breached the inside of the white line...the edge next to the shale, he doesnt have to be fully over, its not football

  11. Having to log back in seven times was somewhat annoying ..😁 Luckily I only missed two laps of a race (Ht13), and the Aces were on a 5-1 when I logged back in!! The coverage is good though, and I get many more than expected bought the stream, (me being one), so hopefully they will sort out the issue going forward.. The racing, for Sheffield, was ok, it's just a shame the track is so narrow on the bends given the speed they hit them.. It looked like a very decent crowd, which shows, once again, that there is a following for Speedway if the product makes it worth attending... The NSS will have 3,000 plus there on Friday, me and my lad being two of them now, yet at least 1500 of us won't have regularly attended all season.. Make the product credible, give it some jeopardy and consequence, add in a wider variety of teams, and those 1500 or so would attend far more often.. Especially if you open your doors, often, during the warmer, drier, months!!

  13. Seems very strange as Godfrey has a position in all three parties….promoter of Scunthorpe, BSPL chairman and their liaison officer with the SCB ! On that basis alone why did they put in a protest ? You think Vatcher or someone in the SCB office ( is there anyone else ? ) would have advised him it was a waste of time thus making this press release even more absurd.

  15. I don't know if the modern rule book says anything about curb height but there used to be something about a maximum height it could be, so that the front wheel could safely cross it without causing an accident.
    2 points
  16. I agree don’t think they should allow front wheel over the line. That’s what the line is there for, it’s the inside of the track.

  17. I absolutely agree with you. The regulation as written is completely ambiguous - as demonstrated by numerous different interpretations on here. The SCB had a perfect chance here to explain its own interpretation, and to provide the evidence to support it. It has even had to update its own news release to change 'admissable' to 'inadmissable' regarding the appeal. Wholly unsatisfactory in all respects

  18. Quite agree, tonight he was very poor, top rider in the championship but not in the premiership and did not seem that bothered, when the camera was on him in the pits he was on his mobile joking, this is not the attitude of a team captain, he should of been finding out why he was too slow to pass Tate.

  19. The Google search definitions are very clear but I've still yet to see where they are officially written within the SCB rule book. Nobody has yet pointed me in the right direction. The SCB statement says "having reviewed the regulation as written, this has been breached. Well okay, reviewed against what, by who and where's the evidence? Did someone at the SCB Google it too? Because as far as I can see, the rules 'as written' are subjective in interpretation. I'm not saying it's wrong, but I can't see anything to back it up. The Google search quoted says "according to SCB regulations the white line is technically Part of the infield and defines the precise racing boundary as where the dirt meets the outer edge of the white paint. Where do the SCB regulations state this? And why does it say 'formula scout' after it? At the end of the day, I have no axe to grind either way. To be honest, towards the end of it, Scunny had won me over with their tenacity and I wouldn't have been upset if they'd won, but when people are saying that this vague SCB statement is proof or make it a fact that the rule was breached, I'd like to see the proof. I'm looking forward to this week's Star. I hope they can put more meat on the bones.

  20. Sadly for Sheffield fans Pickering talking the talk but not walking the walk when it comes to rising against world class riders like Kurtz and Doyle, he has a massively inflated average due to big home scores against weaker opposition. In the 3 plays off meetings to date he has scored 17 points from 14 rides so 4.85 average extremely poor from a number 5 with a GSA or 8.25, wasn’t the only one not riding to their average but sticks out more than the rest Congratulations to Belle Vue dominated the league and fully deserve their play off win celebrations on Friday

  26. Who actually saying Jenkins won’t be at Berwick then as there going to need a re shuffle now Kildemand has retired. On the subject of Jenkins vs Newman I’d have Jenkins much better all round scorer, from memory Newman hasn’t done much away from home and feel Jenkins would be better in away matches.

  27. There aren’t enough good riders of that standard to go around, will be relying on some new foreigners to the leagues. Is the championship exempt from these rules again? That’s where these rules would make more sense, should be brits at reserve only if you ask me

  28. I'm not expecting them to but what an opportunity for Poole to get some positive publicity for a change!

  29. Can see Cairns as Ipswich u21 rider his dad been in Coleman’s ear quite a bit, heard yesterday that Premiership will be using a revised Rising Star list, rider can’t have had a Premiership average of over 3.5 so that narrows the pot ridiculously to the likes of Hodder, Pjiper etc

  30. Someone on here did mention rumour of BSPL possibly chipping in for a bit of Lamberts contract, I reckon if he does come back it will be Ippo with the UK Gp being held there in 2027.

  31. A performance of champions that was, Zach Cook IMO was the matchwinner with a solid nine points, although everyone chipped in and it was a great night. Everyone played their part, now lets hopefully make it number fifteen without any accusations of wrongdoing.😉

  32. Air fences has narrowed it, and a slicker surface means it is easy to ride fast, midtrack, which leaves little room either side for a rider to pass, even if those following have enough speed to get alongside the rider "flying" in front of them.. And as the dirt moves out, the line about 2m from the fence becomes the line to take when in the lead, as Kurtz showed by winning a race by over a straight!! It can become very much, follow the leader, with all using the same outside run...

  33. But that's my issue. You're saying to ignore Google, but that seems to be the only source to define the inner edge as where the white line meets the shale. I can't see it defined within the rule book. As I said, I'd be happy for someone to definitively prove me wrong with something more than their own, subjective opinion on the definition of the written rule. The section on the on the infield gives dimensions to permissible objects or personnel from the track inner edge. Interestingly, the diagram on page 74 shows a 3 meter Photo reporters line, clearly dimensioned from the infield side of the white line. I still believe that the definition of the track inner edge and the point of exclusion for crossing it lacks clarity within the SCB rulebook.

  34. Ignore any suggestion from Google Gemini, it’s just how their AI is trying to interpret the rule. It’s just generated words and those words are not pulled from the rulebook directly. The actual rule is in the statement, it’s pretty clear too. Inner edge where the white line starts. Hence a part of the wheels have to be touching the track to be safe

  35. From the Ekstraliga site . Great Britain – dates of league matches on Mondays and Thursdays, Sweden – on Tuesdays, Denmark – on Wednesdays, and Poland (PGEE / M2E) – on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Speedway attendances always strugged at Arlington when not on a Sat evening. From the Ekstraliga website it statea GB dates Mon + Thurs. Not sure that would guarantee the best of attendances at Eastbourne. The crowd generally was not a local one, many travelled a fair distance.

  36. What a cop out from the SCB. Confirm illegal tyre warming and confirm rear wheel out of bounds in Superheat, but result stands because the ref wrongly declared the result. Well done Scunthorpe Scorpions, the true winners of the league.

  37. Hopefully, we get, at least, seven teams with around ten GP riders involved... Tonight showed, unfortunately, the difference between the top level lads, and the young kids who really shouldn't be exposed to to that level, yet... As the crowd tonight showed, there is enough followers of the sport... You just need to make the sport something that people can get engaged enough with for several months..

  42. I am not a supporter of Poole or Scunthorpe however, as a former level 4 football referee we were trained for when the ball was in/out of play and not to guess. Below is the law on ball in ball out.

  43. also from google.... The Speedway Control Bureau (SCB) Regulations define the "white line" itself as the official boundary of the infield. [1] The rule book phrases it with strict technical phrasing under two specific rules that work together: The Infield Line Definition (Rule 05.1.4a): It states there must be "a continuous line to define the inner edge of the track circuit." The SCB formally interprets this white painted line as being part of the infield itself, meaning the precise "inner edge" of the racing track is exactly where the dirt track meets the outer edge of the white paint. [1] The Point of Disqualification (Rule 012.1.11): Because the white line counts as the infield, the regulations do not require a tyre to cross 100% over the line to be in breach. The rule strictly penalizes "a rider whose machine crosses the inner edge of the track with 2 wheels." [1, 2] In practice during a referee review, if any part of the tyre tread simply touches the painted surface of the white line, that wheel is legally deemed to have left the track. If both tyres touch or cross onto that white paint during a corner, it triggers an immediate red light disqualification, unless the safety or crowding exemptions apply. [1, 2]

  44. Sorry but you are wrong... It says fully cross so @Grachan is correct!
    1 point
  45. I'm not adding it - I'm using it to help you understand what crossing a white line means. I have no comment on any tyre warming for the simple reason that I have no idea what that is all about. I never watched either match. I just looked at the photo on the Scunthorpe website after reading the comments here. Let's see if Google can help. Ooh, look at that! Same analogy as me. Same word - "completely" - as me. And they are not even Poole fans. And neither am I.
    1 point
  46. The word "completely" does not appear in the rule - you're adding it. As for your lack of wanting to comment on the blatant tyre warming before Heat 8 at Scunthorpe, it's very telling.
    1 point
  47. Incorrect. It shows that I do understand. To cross a white line, you have to be completely over it. That's literally what it means. If you haven't gone completely over it, you are touching it. You haven't crossed it. Not sure what else I can say about it really. No idea on the tyre warming thing and what that was about though.
    1 point
  48. The inner edge of the track is where the white line starts, ok? No mention in the rule book about crossing the white line. If you cross the inner edge the rider should be disqualified. so if a rider touches the white line with both wheels he has crossed the inner edge, I do feel that I have explained it.
