I’m surprised you haven’t commented on how well your boy did in the British Final STR. As expected, Howarth was a level above.

To me it is perfectly put. We know that the plan was to go for a heat advantage. That plan changed when the Russians hit a 5-1 at the end of lap one. Of course it’s naive to suggest there wasn’t a back up plan to hold a 3 all if they were 2nd and 3rd. But we were never close to that position, until the last lap. with it being the final what better way to finish with a hard race instead of a slow up race. Those who think Emil could have been fooled into being suckered by Tai over a couple of laps is also naive in the extreme. -

Exactly. An explanation has been given yet still some want to pick fault. we wondered what the tactics were and now we know. Some of us will have closure on why the race went the way it did. no doubt some will still pick it apart till everyone agrees with them. -

There was nothing to deny. You read what you want in a post as per usual. We simply don’t know what Rosco or the team said we had to do in the final. It certainly seems obvious to everyone else what we had to do. id rather give some the benefit of the doubt instead of being pompous like you. We’ve seen so many instances of you ‘strongly believe I am’ right by constantly harbouring the point in a relentless manner. Thankfully we are all different and not all of us have to believe what we know is right. Thankfully I don’t need to be that important. -

And Russia team rode once in 2nd and 3rd??? The usual bwitcher reply changing the meaning. We have no idea what the instructions from the pits were. We assume it was 'get a 3 all 2nd and 3rd'. We all know what the rules were however we have Rosco as a team manager -

My ‘Tai tinted glasses’ have been off for years thanks but have to credit where credit is due. We have no idea what the instructions for the final were. It’s all assumption what he should have done. IMHO it would have made GB more vulnerable waiting for Emil. Maybe Tai was hoping Robert might have picked Emil off (which he nearly did) whilst he went after Artem?? There was nobody better at team riding throughout the week than Tai. The Russians didn’t exactly team ride once on a 3 all either. Team riding which only Woffy seemed capable of doing, did Russia start team riding once Tai got to the front?? If we expect GB to do it in the final then shouldn’t we expect the same from Russia?? Nothing better than watching team riding but it’s a lost art form, as evidenced throughout the competition with only Woffy giving a perfect demonstration. -

Which was my point all along. Judging who is best is completely subjective dependant on your age/ favourite rider and or team/ dislike of other teams and riders. One reliable piece of evidence is the history that is known and evidenced by triumphs and achievements. Wolves fans would probably say Sam Ermolenko is a better rider than Tai also which is the kind of thing you will get when asking people who is the best rider. Completely subjective. The ONLY reason we were in the position we were was solely due to the amazing efforts of Tai. To then lay blame at his door for the final is ludicrous. We don't know the reasons why he chased for the win but I trust he did the right thing, based on the fact that if was him alone that ensured we were in that position in the first place. To call him out in one race is frankly ludicrous. -

I've not fallen into any trap, I've already said that I don't mean to discredit the ability of Craven. I'm fully aware of his history and standing within the sport. I can't remember where he came in the Speedway Star rider of the millennium. I'd imagine he was pretty high up. Certainly a good idea where he was ranked by all speedway fans of all ages. Of course you still have to measure that against what any rider achieves in the history books. It would be foolhardy of anyone to suggest that if woffy was to add another one or two world titles to his name that he still wouldn't be a worthy candidate of being one of our all time greats. -

A good point. Eye witnesses are great, but we are all eye witnesses and we all see different things depending on your club or country bias. Ive not read many reports that haven’t said Craven wasn’t superb and wasn’t the best of his era. That’s not in question. My dad has told me stories that go back to the 50’s so I’m fully aware of the history of riders and abilities. That said the history books tell us the facts, the rest is subjective. -

Like I said reading it later on there was a definate switch of Tai is brilliant to Tai cost us the win. Plenty questioning his motives with the usual suspects hating. I read plenty of posts praising his efforts last night and today which is refreshing to see. -

Ah, the old I was there so no better than you do argument. what riders would, should, could have, achieved has no place then or today. Riders and their history stand by what they achieve or achieved. I’ve seen plenty of riders from several eras. Tai will rightly be judged when his career is over and what he has achieved. As it stands he is still in consideration to be the best British rider of any era. Achievements will help us make that judgement. -

No it doesn’t, but some only attack him no matter what he does. If you fit into that camp then the cap fits, so to speak. i doubt you have a good word to say about Tai anyway so if that makes you a Tai hater then you have outed yourself. how anyone’s can hate on him after that virtual single handed performance of keeping us at the top of the leader board. Still, each to their own. Haters gotta hate I guess. I’m not misreading any mood here. I caught up late on the meeting and thread and saw all the expected glowing reports of how magnificent Tai was. Then after the final race plenty jumped on board with the Tai is all self self, cost us the win blahdeblah. I think I captured the mood perfectly actually. It’s simpley not way off the mark at all. PC rode in an era when GB ruled the world. So his team and country achievements were slightly easier because of this. No taking away his achievements in this of course. Collins only won 1 world title, those are the facts. Tai has already won 2 and is looking good enough for a 3rd this year. Woffy has virtually single handedly achieve Silver for GB in the World Cup and now the Pairs by scoring massive points to make up for the below standard of his fellow GB riders. An incredible achievement. it is absolutely fair to suggest he is close to being our best ever British rider. -

Thankfully it’s a pleasure to see some posters still giving Tai the credit he deserves but not surprised at the usual Woffy haters trying to discredit him for what was one of the best GB TEAM performances in a long time. nobody has any idea what the thought process was for the final or what orders were given so it’s just guess work. And as usual Tai is the guilty partner as per usual. How anyone can call Tai selfish after his amazing performances throughout the tournament I find completely baffling, tho not in the slightest bit surprised. Tai as usual showed what a professional and dedicated approach to his country yet some still happy to bash. Not surprised of course. thank god for Woffy, on course to be the greatest British rider ever. -

Well said Jacques. Makes you proud to be a Brit with a performance like that. Rosco admitted it on Tuesday he has nothing to do anymore! Without Tai and the new regime nothing would have changed. There will always be a Team GB, just a useless one without a Tai in. Well said Steve. Absolutely Steve, the future is very bright. Particularly with the likes of Kemp making big strides in his first season and also the Thompson Twins next season. Huge potential and cutting out the dead wood next season onwards. No offence to Cook. There was no better team rider over the 2 days and you want to criticise one race? Barmy. Me neither. Any chance for the Woffy bashers to have a go. All praise one minute then the full blame the next. Total nonsense. Rider of the tournament. No question. -

No teams can change once declared. As evidenced by clueless Rosco who tried to replace Cook with Bewley last week. -

No one saw that coming. What an amazing result from day 1. where are all the Tai haters and Lambert bashers?? Been reading thru and they are all strangely quiet. Thank god for those two, should have been both of them from the start with Bewley getting reserve experience at this level. Woffy is something else stepping up for his country and passion for us too. No one took team riding to his level tonight. Thank god we have a professional set up running the National squad with our top boy representing us now. Just need to get a team manager who can fit in with this new ethos. Rosco said it all on Tuesday when he said ‘I’ve had nothing to do’. He had one job to do and that was to let Robert ride with Tai in every race. He nearly got that right. can we dream of a possible gold?
