Exactly, I don't think too many people are particularly fussed with how their riders do in Poland or anywhere else for that matter.

Unfortunately I'm not quite old enough to remember Michael Lee in his initial spell at Lynn, I was three when he became World Champion and would have been going regularly then but can't really recollect much before 1983 and those memories are mainly of Richard Hellsen. Of course I can remember his two ill fated comebacks but by then he was a shadow of his former self. My first proper hero was Henka in the early nineties, he was unbelievable at times round Lynn particularly in 1993 when he had some seriously fast kit. I've never seen anybody overtake quite like him since and probably won't again.

Who made you boss? Discussions develop where they develop, so tough breast.

Completely irrelevant, what that shows is that Buster and anybody else involved in decision making shouldn't be if they are letting riders come back to the UK several years later on out of date averages when a blind man can see that they have improved considerably in that time. Above board in British speedway doesn't mean fair or right, particularly when those averages almost certainly would have been different had another club been doing the asking.
-
It's about the playing field being level and everyone getting treated fairly rather than riders making teams stronger or not. Without integrity the competition is a complete waste of time. Not saying that's the case here but it would be interesting to know where the 'GP rider 8 point rule' idea came from.
-
Unfortunately when a sport is corrupt and therefore clubs are treated differently questions like that are irrelevant.

WORKINGTON V GLASGOW. league cup. SATURDAY 7th . 7.00pm
Bagpuss replied to jenga's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Comfortable away win, Sarj to run riot and the catering situation to be unrecognisably better. -
Indeed, it seems that this 'rule' doesn't actually exist despite more than one promoter and rider believing that it did. Not at all in keeping with the open, honest, transparent and uncomplicated way that British speedway is run

Common sense, everyone knows where they stand and we can all try again on a better evening. -

Not really sure what you are getting at as the night in question wasn't wet? -
I thought the whole fall out with Tai was the lack of professionalism and preparation which this should sort out.

Tru Plant Stars v Leicester Lions: KO Cup Wed 4th April
Bagpuss replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The stock cars scheduled for today have been postponed which is a good thing for Wednesday's prospects. The forecast is for later rain tomorrow and Wednesday as well as all day today so I can't see it going ahead personally, and if there is rain around Wednesday evening and its still on I won't be taking the chance, been stung by that far too often in the past. I'd suggest if the forecast is still the same in 36 hours time it would be entirely sensible to call off early and wait for a much nicer spring evening. -

Poole V Wolves SGB PREM A. 4th April 2018
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
BBC has light rain for twelve hours and then a dry Wednesday afternoon. Also light rain most of Tuesday and general rain all day tomorrow. That's an awful lot of water for a speedway track to take. -

Can't see Thorsell or the two Wolves reserves scoring many points so should be a very comfortable home win. As brum has said it's highly unlikely anybody will be able to get near Poole on their own track over fifteen heats this year. -
I think it speaks volumes that Auty is on an average just over four and a half yet wasn't picked up by anybody in the Premiership. He is just far too inconsistent for me especially out of the gate although I agree that he would have scored well at Belle Vue.....trouble is there are seven other tracks in the league. Starke the better option for me and as somebody has already said he achieved his average in a top five rather than from reserve.
-
Clubs should perhaps be more honest when asked about weather conditions at the track or the likelihood that meetings will go ahead but to a large extent they are damned if they do and damned if they don't with early call offs. I would also argue that if you travel to a meeting as a supporter when the forecast is poor you can't moan too much if you get there and its off. As for Bomber he has a week old child at home so he deserves to be cut a bit of slack for being frustrated. It's a shame people feel the need to put the boot in so quickly on sportsmen or any public figures nowadays.

Leicester Lions v Tru Plant Stars - Easter Monday - OFF
Bagpuss replied to Trees's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If the forecast doesn't alter Trees I wouldn't even bother setting off. Looks awful. Forecast poor for the second leg next Wednesday too. -
It's hardly 'sacking' anyway when riders sign contracts for a season at a time.
-
Thing is Trees the 'good old days' are long gone and image & appearance is very important now, especially for a struggling sport like ours. Racesuits should be compulsory for our top two leagues IMO, and there is no reason why good racing can't be a priority regardless of this.
