Championship Teams Comparison Time
Bagpuss replied to balderdash&piffle's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Sheffield and Glasgow stand out. Edinburgh have far more home advantage than anyone else so will be up there whoever else they sign. Ipswich dark horses. -
Have a look at their home results over the past few seasons and see how difficult it is for away riders to score points at the OTA. Somerset ride their own track very well indeed as it's a unique shape and they've retained five riders from last year so they will be hard work at home for anybody.
-
Excellent team.
-
Doesn't look the strongest side on paper but for most they will be a tough nut to crack on their own shale, as they have been in previous PL seasons. Can see some hidings on the road though. Can see Hougaard having a good year.
-
Errr nobody.....think he is referring to the low average which Kurtz 'achieved' at Plymouth.
-
That bottom four has enormous potential and the three heat leaders are proven. Going to be right up there along with Sheffield.

Amusing thread until somebody waded in with personal abuse

2016 Riders Still To Be Announced In 2017 Team
Bagpuss replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Jan Graversen has signed for a Premiership team according to Facebook, wonder where he is headed and on what average? 'Soon to be be revealed' apparently. -
I'd really like to see Riss in a Lynn race suit, would be a great signing. No chance on Cook if Belle Vue run and Batchelor must be a shoe in with his links to Mr Warnes.

Adam Ellis? Although I agree that redandyellow is being an @rse. -
Does British Speedway Have Future?
Bagpuss replied to Pieman72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Couldn't agree more. On a different thread one or two people are still bellyaching about Cook and Woffinden's exploits in the Play Off final but we need more of that kind of stuff to get the crowd going rather than falling asleep in their seats / camping chairs. A little bit of controversy does speedway the power of good when it happens as long as nobody gets injured. -
Quite agree, riding all of his home meetings across the three leagues at Monmore and Armadale did him no good last year. Unless he gets a place at Sheffield it's hard to see how that will change in 2017.
-
Rose was one of the few bright spots last year and would deserve his spot for next season.

Does British Speedway Have Future?
Bagpuss replied to Pieman72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think there does need to be an overhaul for speedway to prosper but in all likelihood it will stumble along as it has done for the last thirty odd years if not. -
Who's around on 4.55 though? Might as well go with a two pointer and have a better number five.
-
If Wolves get the last two riders right they will be very tough to finish ahead of.
-
There are no reasonable British four pointers around, you may as well just use Bailey.
-
Big difference between degrading riders and expressing an opinion that they are poor signings on their averages. You are a sensitive little flower considering you like to do the forum rounds winding people up.
-
That would be my preferred 1-7 and we'd have a good chance of the Play Offs as long as Holder was fully committed.
-
Yes, but it's about supply and demand. If you have half a dozen clubs desperate for your signature you can pretty much name your price.
-
Naive to think that he hasn't gone where the most money is though seeing as every club must have been after him. I'm sure he's not riding for Poole on less money than he could have got elsewhere.
-
Good for you but plenty of people like to discuss (on a discussion forum after all) whether signings are good, bad or indifferent.
-
As has been said several times already Rory and Mads won't be back.
-
Elvin King should have been put out to grass years ago, although I always enjoyed reading his squirming match reports when Lynn won at the Foxhole.
-
Reserves look awful. Must be somebody around better than Hall surely.
