King's Lynn V Poole, Elite Shield, 26/03/15
Bagpuss replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
More likely to be slick with the slop all scraped off I'd have thought. Hard to believe there's not a cloud in the sky now after what we had this morning! -
Seems daft that we haven't entered now that the Saturday clash issue is no longer, er, an issue.

King's Lynn V Poole, Elite Shield, 26/03/15
Bagpuss replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
From kingslynnstars.co LYON CONFIDENT OF VICTORY TONIGHT Posted on March 26th, 2015 Tonight the King’s Lynn ‘Roger Warnes Transport’ Stars go into the second leg of the Elite Shield against Poole at the Adrian Flux Arena needing to overturn a 14 point deficit, and manager Rob Lyon is confident his side can win the meeting. Lyon said: “I am confident we can get a victory tonight, I will be disappointed if we don’t. Whether we win on aggregate or not is a different story, but we are certainly more than capable of doing that. I think the main thing is that the boys to get some more competitive laps and be ready for next Tuesday. “The boys will want to make amends tonight and try to turn it over and get a win on home soil.” On reflection of the first leg, Lyon added: “We struggled a little bit to be honest, it is early days and the track was usual Poole. We were in the meeting early on, the first half was tight but they had a couple of 5-1’s at crucial times and that was the difference. “I don’t think we looked like a team that lost by 14 points if I am honest. If we got a 5-1 in heat 15 then it would have gone the other way and we would have lost by only six points. Admittedly we never looked like winning the meeting. “I think it is unfair to comment at this early stage about form because it is what it is, an early season challenge. Stars reserve Ashley Morris made his debut for the club on Wednesday and Lyon was pleased with his efforts, he said: “Ashley had a bright start, looked nervous but that was expected being his first meeting back. He made a great start and looked very competitive. “I said to him it would take a little bit of time to get dialled in and back to competitive racing, he will be fine I am sure.” Gates at the Adrian Flux Arena will open at 6pm tonight with the parade taking place at 7:30pm. Admission prices: Adults £17, Concessions £14, Juniors £5, Kids under 11 go FREE. King’s Lynn Stars 1. Niels-Kristian Iversen, 2. Robert Lambert, 3. Rory Schlein ©, 4. Nicklas Porsing, 5. Kenneth Bjerre, 6. Lewis Kerr, 7. Ashley Morris Poole Pirates 1. Chris Holder, 2. Dakota North, 3. Davey Watt, 4. Kacper Gomolski R/R, 5. Maciej Janowski, 6. Paul Starke, 7. Adam Ellis (G) -

Ellis very comfortable round the Adrian Flux Arena. Still raining in West Norfolk but due to stop and brighten up in the next couple of hours. Think Poole will defend their lead tonight comfortably and possibly win on the night. As Skidder says lets hope everybody comes through safely for the serious stuff next week. -
Rob Lambert Our Next British Hope?
Bagpuss replied to sommelier's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think speedway has the same problem as football in this country, as soon as a promising youngster comes along we all lump massive amounts of pressure and expectation on him as we don't produce a good one very often. The media do it in football, Raheem Sterling is suffering from it at the moment....he is being touted for big moves to Spain for £150k a week but when you actually watch him play his decision making and final ball is a long, long way off what is should be for a top class player. Riders like Lambert, Perks etc really need leaving alone to develop at their own pace. They may well have the ingredients required BUT its all about hard work, application, fine tuning of their skills and seeing how they develop over the next 4-5 years. As far as Woffy goes I'd say he was better than Robert at the same age simply because he could gate much better. Don't want to labour the point but Lambert HAS to develop that part of his game. -
Well done Brummies, thats quite a turnaround from last week which must give heart to the rest of the league too.

Coventry Bees V Wolves Friday 27th March

Seems like common sense to me. It'll never catch on! -
So pleased for Glasgow supporters, have spent some of my most enjoyable hours as a speedway fan on the back straight at Ashfield in the sunshine with Paulco et al and its great to see such positive things happening at such a friendly and welcoming club. Pity its so far away or I'd pop up one weekend. Looking forward to the Sky meeting

I think several riders will struggle round Arlington in this division, its a tight narrow track which will offer a fair degree of home advantage once the home side have had a few meetings there. Team kevlars are a bit bright! Like matching suits and bike covers though, makes them look like a proper team.

Very early days but Poole will take some beating to a third title on the trot if North & Starke keep riding like that. Well done to CVS for not picking Starke for Wolves Expect a very close meeting tonight as Poole ride Lynn as well as their own track, and North is a specialist. As long as we don't get thrashed and everybody is ready for Tuesday that'll do me fine.

Peterborough V Somerset Plc Sunday 22nd March
Bagpuss replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Suprising result as Peterborough look a decent side and Somerset quite ordinary compared to their recent teams. Highly unlikely that Panthers' number one and senior reserve will score so poorly at home again though so I'd not be too worried. Encouraging start for the Rebels. -
Speedway Champions League ?
Bagpuss replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
If it develops into a proper competition in the future then great, I will be interested but its just not for me at present. Fair play to those going to watch it this year though and I hope they enjoy it. At least Pepe rode for us once upon a time, albeit 17 years ago -
Speedway Champions League ?
Bagpuss replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
Its Mickey Mouse for me because there are riders who are contracted to more than one of the competing clubs and its not being held over four legs (one at each track). Make it a bit more of a level playing field and it would be a little more appealing. Or send a BEL allstars team to make it a bit more competitive. -
Iversen seems to be back in the swing of things quite quickly but this will be Porsing's first outing of 2015 AFAIK and our two reserves are returning from injuries so don't expect them to be up to speed straight away. Expect lots of cobweb blowing over the two legs in what is basically a challenge match, lets hope for two smooth consistent tracks and fourteen riders all in one piece come 10pm Thursday evening.

Birmingham Vs Cradley (ch) 18th March 2015
Bagpuss replied to 21st century heathen's topic in National League Speedway
Wow didn't expect that score. Good to see so many rookies starting NL matches but lets hope one team isn't going to dominate the league yet again. -
Seems daft to me that a young Brit can't sign for a PL team for a month as a temporary replacement and continue to ride in the two other leagues also. Why do we make it so hard for our own?

Leicester V Coventry Emb 15 03 2015 12:00 Start
Bagpuss replied to TMW's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
To any Coventry fans getting their knickers in too much of a twist, King's Lynn beat Sheffield 75-15 at the Norfolk Arena in one of their first matches back in 2007 yet lost to them over two legs in the Play Off semi final at the end of that year. Its a long old season as you yourselves will know from 2010. -

Sheffield worth a flutter. -
I'm a fan of race suits as a team identity so good to see another PL side adopting them but Rye's are rank.
