  1. He has all the raw materials required accept the ability to gate. If he can get that right and keep a level head on his shoulders he can go as far as he likes in the sport, injuries permitting of course. Last year was a good solid start for him, hope to see him progress a bit more this season and make a big impression in the PL.
  2. I don't think you'll be too far out there screamer but I just wonder about Belle Vue, they always seem to flatter to deceive and Cook will be a big miss away from home when he is piddling about in the PL on the same night. As you say Porsing & Lambert are the key men for the super Stars.
  3. Glasgow Tigers bringing Blobby down a dozen pegs or so
  4. Great to see another young Brit getting a team place.
  5. Poole Coventry Belle Vue Lynn Swindon Lakeside Leicester Wolves
  6. I was going to post the same thing more or less word for word until I saw you had
  7. Do Henry & Harrison not qualify through residency, a la Doolan, Watt etc
  8. Compton could probably do a job but anyone who is suggesting Hall or Wilson and their awful away form obviously has no interest in Sheffield winning anything this season.
  9. Henka Gustafsson, preferably of the 1990-93 vintage before he broke his leg and when he graced the shale of Saddlebow Road. I swear he would overtake people on the last bend on purpose.
  10. EL squads would solve the problem and really ought to have been introduced by now.
  11. Common sense prevails with Poole visiting the previous Thursday.
  12. And apparently were best mates afterwards. A bit of pantomime fisticuffs is what speedway needs, never did any harm in the 70s and 80s.
  13. Is that Lindgren team riding in the picture and looking across to see where Lewis is? Didn't think he could team ride according to some
  14. I respect him for his success and the fact that he is doing it in his forties, that he still has the desire to achieve so late in his career and that he does it with a smile on his face and is liked by his fellow competitors. Doesn't stop me finding him dull to watch! The two things are unrelated.
  15. And as is very often is the case you are reading things which just aren't there. I never said that he wasn't a great rider, good ambassador, nice bloke, couldn't be appreciated etc etc. He is all of those things and I respect him as a rider and a fine competitor, especially at his age, but I find watching him incredibly dull, regardless of his ability. Most of his races involve him gating like a rocket and riding the fastest line to a tee for for laps, just doesn't do it for me personally. Respect him enormously though, who wouldn't.
  16. Seconded. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder of course, but he just doesn't do it for me.
  17. In this kind of situation where a rider has been contracted to a promotion/club for ten years would it not be better to grant a testimonial once he has totalled ten years of riding for that club even if not consecutive? SCB's general point is correct, testimonials are handed out far too readily nowadays.
  18. Birks and Ellis will be one of the better reserve pairings IMO.
  19. IIRC his patriality was too far back in his family for him to be a three.
  20. A pity its two of the same sides again although excited by seeing Latvia. Hope the racing is better this year!
  21. In other words rather than you trapping off with smugness one or two of them are......best not dish it out if you can't take it
  22. It was a general point about Glasgow really, if Garrity has been tapped up and jumped ship accordingly then that is of course pretty poor form. But its a pity people are jealous of the money which has come into Glasgow rather than being pleased for the sport as a whole. Its a British trait unfortunately.
  23. We did, Latvia will be a big improvement on Italy but its all a bit samey and we have the prospect of Hancock gating his way to another hatful of points. Disappointing.
