Funnily enough I could never really watch golf until I played it, I think its a sport where an understanding of how you actually play helps. Like the Ashes there have been recent Ryder Cups which are as good a sporting theatre as you can watch. The 'Miracle in Medinah' was something else. I'm not able to watch test matches live but listening to TMS all day and then watching the hour long highlights on the beeb in the evening is a great way to consume the Ashes. For anybody who doesn't get why cricket is exciting I'd recommend watching todays Today at the Test on the I-Player, or even better Google day four of the Headingley test in 2019! It's as good as sport gets.

Discussions develop on threads, that's how the forum works. -

H McGurk's decline has led to Harrison's promotion, one of those things you couldn't see coming. In the long run it'll do him good but its a steep curve for the young man at the moment. -
Chris Louis hasn't said that, the forum Chris has. Louis was defending Buster on Twitter.

Poole v Berwick 12/7/23 CL
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Are you thinking of someone else? Looks like he missed one visit to Poole out of eight for the three seasons he rode for Lynn that they were in the same league as Poole, and that was due to an injury. -
Is it a parody account?

Glasgow v Redcar CL 7/7/23 @7-30

I expect Nowak will always have his Polish commitments and earnings in the back of his mind, if there is a hole in the track you'd imagine getting through in one piece ready for Sunday would be his priority. -
Don't exist any more do they?

Either would do me.

It's a two way street though mate. I'm not shelling out 22 quid plus petrol for a losing team and poor racing, and it seems many feel the same.

King's Lynn Vs Sheffield 06.07.23
Bagpuss replied to StarBoy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
All to do with the stocks which make the money. The clay surface won't change while that's the case. The racing on the whole has been crap for years, unless it's uber slick like for the Leicester v Poole meeting in November when people can actually race. Can't see things changing unfortunately. Had heard also that the surrounding industrial estate moans when it's dusty, hence the grippiness in the summer months. -
What a mess.

Absolutely. There's a winning culture at the club. They are well supported, well sponsored and well managed. Everything you want your own club to be.

Glasgow (28) vs (62) PIRATES BSN Final 2nd leg 21st July
Bagpuss replied to lbw's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Nothing to do with Lynn! My club is currently a shambles. The point is if the prospect of winning either on aggregate or at all is diminished then in most cases some folk won't turn up, it's human nature. -

Strictly speaking the line up being referred to had Jakobsen, Palm Toft and Edwards in it and the real prospect of Pickering returning but I very much take your point. -
Not every team will every week, but as a general trend it has been the case for many years. The number of times Poole heat leaders and second strings have beaten top riders over the years will bear that out.

King's Lynn Vs Sheffield 06.07.23
Bagpuss replied to StarBoy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The club is a absolute shambles unfortunately. Track, team, results, crowds, take your pick. For those o us who have been going since the last century in particular its painful and so demoralising. -
IMO Poole for whatever reason is a very difficult track for away riders to get the set up right for, for years away riders have struggled to score points there in both leagues.

It's always the latter with dear old Skidder. I'm sure he'll remember 2009 when Poole were shyte, finished one from bottom and their crowds were awful. -

For those who don't listen to the @RoundTheBoardsPodcast podcast each week the latest episode has some excellent discussion and ideas from former Coventry rider Lee Coleman about moving speedway forward in the UK and making it a better customer experience, and he has submitted a document to the SCB to that effect. Well worth a listen. https://podcast.sport-social.co.uk/podcast/round-the-boards-the-speedway-podcast/

King's Lynn Vs Sheffield 06.07.23

Buster said straight away that the team was over budget so any guest will be bargain basement, that's a given. Sheffield to score somewhere between 50 and 60 I expect.
