  1. Sure we've been over this already.....nobody is saying he's 'that good', just that your assessment of 'cack' is just that based on the stats provided.
  2. Something similar happened at Lynn once after a massive pre meeting shower, the track was able to be sorted bar an area on the inside of the first two bends and they moved the white line. It was against Mildenhall so was 2006, '07 or '08 and I remember their correspondent Randall Butt having a whinge about it in the Speedway Star the week after. If it'd s choice between moving the white line or abandoning then it's a simple decision really.
  3. Apparently he's packed in the announcing at Lynn & Peterborough due to his health which is a real shame, I started going to Lynn in the late seventies as a toddler and can only ever remember his voice as he regular announcer. Don't know if he's going to continue doing Peterborough United. EDIT seems he packed in the football at the end of last season.
  4. It's a no brainer, bigger names mean more punters through the gate.
  5. That is a good point. Essentially P'boro have lost a close meeting in the last heat without their number one against a strong side, I wouldn't be too downhearted or disappointed.
  6. Aussies have always taken well to the EoES.
  7. I'd say P'boro did pretty well to get 42 once Mr Ped crashed out. Doyle & Emil are going to get plenty of 5-1's this year.
  8. Sheffield the team to beat by the look of it, which we kind of knew already. Fear for Lynn a bit on Thursday!
  9. To be fair I was chatting quite a bit between heats so didn't notice the delays but I guess there was some farting about when the men in black and the youngsters had their races, plus the men in black heats take far longer than a minute and we had various interviews and bits and pieces related to the Ben Fund going on on the centre grey too. I general though I agree with you, speedway meetings take far too long (especially at Lynn) but I thought that what was essentially two and a half hours between first race and last was OK for a hefty programme like that, I certainly didn't expect it to be finished any quicker. In fact seeing as I had my young daughter with me I was prepared and half expecting to leave before the final so I was surprised it was all done with by 7:45.
  10. In fairness we had 27 heats, a parade and a sun delay in two and three quarter hours, is that really that bad? Were the gaps between races really that long? I'm not so sure. I think around ninety minutes for a standard 15 heat meeting is about right personally so that wasn't too bad last night IMO.
  11. Didn't he get injured either before appearing or very soon after the season started and was never seen again? Remember seeing him beat Darcy Ward at Lynn when they were both 15/16 in a second half race I think.
  12. On that basis it doesn't look like they need to worry about Basso though
  13. True, possibly better for folk to pay to watch it and moan & groan rather than not bother at all!
  14. I'm not sure being called Victor Meldrew or a 'clown' is particularly abusive, in fact the worst word on the entire thread is 'crap', and you used that yourself. Would be nice if you could acually have a discussion rather than slagging something off (as you normally do) and then disappearing when people disagree. Other than the delays which to be honest I didn't really notice as I was chatting to lots of people I hadn't seen for months, why did you think it was 'crap'? There was passing and close racing from the first heat to the last on a good surface between a well matched field and it raised money for a good cause. As somebody has said perhaps speedway is no longer for you.
  15. The lad in orange on the 250cc looked an excellent prospect, can't remember his name. Apparently he competes in multiple motorcycle sports and is good at them all, makes you sick
  16. Bike problems all night unfortunately.
  17. Really enjoyed that, some good racing as there often is when Lynn is much slicker than normal. Freddie was great value as he gated last in most of his heats. King a deserved winner. One or two good prospects in the youth races too. And not cold
  18. They could probably bring that date forward by two or three months to be fair
  19. It's one of those days unfortunately, the Met Office forecast seems to be changing hourly and at the moment its essentially showers that may or may not appear and could either blow through quickly on the strong wind or like yesterday last five minutes and saturate everywhere in the blink of an eye, we even had some hail here yesterday which momentarily made my grass white! It's Pot Luck, I hope PE34 gets lucky today.
