think you are right there as well. Mark was never ever a dirty or hard rider but as i say he completely misjudged the speed Tony was going into the corner and took him off. Even a die-hard Brit and Loram fan everyone knew Mark had to go. Speaking to him at a later date he said the same but thats why he just didnt do anything but wait on his bike and if they excluded him he wouldnt have argued. Only seen Mark really angry 3 times. Once when Nielsen rode him hard in a gp , Mark passed him back and give him the longest look over a shoulder ever as they crossed the line. Then when Nicki had him off in a gp and Mark was on his bike for the re run bashing the gate as the race started, and then finally after Lee Richardson fenced him in the British Final at Coventry.

Your correct. Mark misjudged the entry to the corner and took Tony off, possibly the only time Mark ever took a rider off. They excluded Tony and then mayhem ensued. Just remember Crumpie going ballistic saying you cant reverse a decision. Mark just sat on his bike in the pits shrugging his shoulders, calmest man there

Most In-demand Riders For The 2017 Season
Gavan replied to poolebolton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
No i dont decide the averages but if you think its ok for a rider who averages 5.60 (with a large chunk as second string), is clearly improving, to drop down to ride in a reserve berth on a 3 then i worry for the sport if that happens And yes as ive stated many times Gollobs average was farcical back then. I can admit that as i see the bigger picture. Nicholls wasnt world class at that point but a good improving rider. -
Why would a team ranked 4th be able to get riders from a better 1-7? Besides who in there right mind would want to leave the best track in the country and race on something not even close?

Most In-demand Riders For The 2017 Season
Gavan replied to poolebolton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Really? So we just write off the improvement and average he obtained from 2016?? Can we do that for all riders? Just completely ignore a season? -
There needs to be change and mainly in the role and averages of the reserves. Time for the likes of Worrall, Auty , Wright, Starke, Newman, Howarth to either move into the top 5 or not be allowed to be a reserve. They have served there time. Also they need to get rid of the premier conversion as it doesnt work. A rider like Kyle Newman can get an average over 5.5 , mainly from reserve, and then the next season stay at reserve on 3.79. Total farce if things like that are allowed to continue

Did i say it was?? And thought you had me on ignore? Adam Ellis can not be a 3 pointer wether he rides for Poole or Lakeside, it would make a mockery of a rider who achieved 5.60 from second string. Though i guess you would think it fair for him to be on a 3 and Newman on 3.79, as they both rode for you. -

Your correct he was an EDR rider last year And i would have no objection to him being one this year ..............on the correct average. When a rider obtains an average of 5.60 from doing half the meetings at reserve and half the meetings in the top 5 then its blatantly obvious that he should have an average to fit his ability from those positions. He has no premier league average to convert so it should be a simple process. If he is on a 3 that would be the most stupid idea ever but Lakeside would snap him up -
Most In-demand Riders For The 2017 Season

Kurtz is yet to show he could be a heat leader over here but i disagree about Lambert, think he would fit most teams as a decent third heat leader. Batchelor will be snapped up on that average Lawson to me isnt going to improve much more hen what he is already and him at 5.83 is a lot of points to use up as a second string, personally Ellis on 5.60 is going to improve past him. Nicholls to me would make a great addition at the right track if not wanted at Belle Vue. A Wolves top 4 of Lindgren, Masters , Thorsell and Nicholls or Harris looks good to me. Of course Harris and Nicholls are on downward spirals but they are attractive on their averages as they will give 100% every time and if they end up as second strings then you wont find many better -

Not sure as i think on 6.44 he could almost be a third heat leader, and for a rider that dropped to the reserve berth and still didnt do that well, then i think his average of 6.44 makes him hard to place -
Most In-demand Riders For The 2017 Season
Gavan replied to poolebolton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Surely to be in demand you have to be on an average that is deemed good value? Nicholls, Harris and dare i say it Batchelor are all on what may be seen as good value averages. Kurtz isnt and may find it difficult to get a team place in the Elite league. Think Poole would rather have Ellis at number 2 on 5.60 then Kurtz on 6.44 -
Very strange how Mr Rising states that Greg should have just faked an engine failure and pulled off!! That wouldnt have given Holder an extra point over Zmarlik!!! Yep where according to Shovlar it was their 5th ride and Screen spent the whole race looking over his shoulder for Mark , and the fact that Screen was flying and Mark wasnt (but yet it was Marks 3rd ride and he won his previous one, and it was Screens 6th ride) When in reality Screen moved over on bend 3 of lap one , let Mark up the inside and then made sure Hampel couldnt get past. He didnt look for 3 laps making it blatant, he simply moved over on lap one. He didnt say he had engine problems , he just moved out of the way and admitted it. Hancock looked far more obvious He then threw a hissy fit And made up some crap about his cluthch.

Cant see how Adam Ellis could be a reserve on a 5.60 average from riding mainly in the top 5.

Most In-demand Riders For The 2017 Season
Gavan replied to poolebolton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Chris Harris will be in huge demand as a good solid heat leader for someone. Ellis is stuck in limbo for me on 5.60. Poole would want him back but its clear with that average he will be a second string and is hat to much of a gamble especially away from home. His last 5 scores from second string at home were 7+2 , 3+1, 11+1, 8+1 and 8+1 so certainly at home he would be good value for 5.60 from the number 2 spot. Scott Nicholls would be a good signing for Wolves as well. MJJ i doubt we will see over here Jonsson i cant see going anywhere else And how you think Kurtz is good value on his average surprises me. -
Simply the best speedway commentator there has ever been. Who can forget the line about Gundersen carving them apart at Bradford in 1985. One of a kind

ineligible for the remainder of the season is exactly what it says, he is ineligible to ride in it for the rest of the season. There is nothing that says he is ineligible to win the word title at all so I've no idea where it comes from that he should be stripped of the crown. It just means if there's more rounds then he can't ride in them. Nowhere can I see that he should lose his points or lose his title. Ineligible for the rest of the season means if there was 2 rounds to go he couldn't take part. Does not mean that he is ineligible to be world champion. What Hancock did was cheat and then act like a spoilt child and pull out which is shocking actions but to day he shouldn't be World Champion is just daft as the rules do not say he can't be World Champion but that he can't ride for the remainder of the season
-
lol really can't see anywhere where I've said I know I'm right!!! It's beenwell documented the draft isn't going to be the same criteria as last year (I.e premier conversions) and I've simply said some of the riders who have been at reserve now need to step into the main body
-
Last season reserves held the key and that needs to be stopped. Poole got where they did because of Ellis and Newman as (Holder apart) the rest were mediocre. I do still see an argument for Ellis to be EDR as it was his first season but surely he to is ready for a second string role as he to like Newman should average 6 in the Premier missed the point lol. It's about improvement, what more could the likes of Auty and Starke learn from riding in protected heats??? These guys earn good money as heat leaders in the Premier so surely they would want to better themselves in a second string role. Plus the reserves should be British as well and the number 7 NEVER allowed to move up which would stop the nonsense of Pedersen and Kurtz (gp rider and Aussie champ) from riding down there
-
ok then you tell me what you think the draft should be??? Surely it isn't to see the likes of Newman ,Worrall , Starke , Auty , Howarth , Bates , Sarjeant , Ellis, Wright just keep riding in it year after year against riders in protected heats??? How they ever going to get better?? The list of riders I've just mentioned need to step up into a second string role or the point of the draft is daft. Time for those who stepped up like Jacobs and Clegg to move into those roles and free up the number 7 role for others. Not good if the same old riders stay in the draft. You tell me what you want to see
-
thank you for reading my post! I've been banging the drum that Kyle should have a realistic average in the main body as well. Kyle and a few others I've mentioned should move up now. Move the lesser EDR's up and then bring in new ones lower down. Time now for Wilson Dean , Zach and Hume to be number 7's in my opinion. In my mind if Poole line up with Ellis and Newman at reserve it's a joke in the same way that Belle Vue shouldn't have Worrall and Jacobs and Wolves shouldn't have Howarth and CleggJacobs, Ashley Morris, Clegg, Branford , Nielsen, Simon Lambert could all be top of the drafts. Then you could have Wilson-Dean , Zach, Bewley , Hume , Perry, as the lower riders. Time for the old EDR's to move up now
-
He had bad injuries we all know that but 2 good meetings at the end of the season doesn't mean he has improved does it. I agree with you he should be in the team but in the main body now on a true average. If ridets like Newman , Steve Worrall, Starke, Wright , Bates and a couple of others are still somehow allowed to ride at reserve its just farcical. These riders are above being EDR level. The top lot of EDR should be the likes of Jacobs and Clegg and then bring in the likes of Wilson-Dean and Hume to be the lower EDR riders.
