  1. Is kingpin reserve Lewis Blackbird ever going to ride for Wolves ! I dare say Friday night fixtures at Lakeside and the B fixture at Coventry are also going to be casualties of doubling up.Fingers crossed he doesn't miss any through injury or frankly it won't have been worth it signing him.
  2. I think that if fans were to rate the Elite league tracks from 1 being the best to 8 being the worst most would still have Kings Lynn at one. .Doesn't say much for the rest ! maybe the reason the sport is struggling so badly.
  3. For an injury list that is normal according to you and your stats, the guys on Sky tonight have talked about nothing else but injuries.Low and behold one hour into the first TV match and one team is down to 5 riders. Can't remember this being the norm, you can believe what your stats tell you but many on here believe that the injury count has risen significantly over the last few years.
  4. A blind man can see that the number of injuries has increased in the last 4 seasons.Just look at the amount of guests used by all clubs in all leagues in the track reviews in the Star, how many riders now go through a season without a spell on the sidelines.Just look at the top level of the GP,Hancock,Iversen,Woffinden,Holder,Ward,Kasprazak, and Sayfitudinov, all suffering serious injuries in the past few years, and these guys are the best.
  5. You're right it is a cheat best to show it how it is.No bigger cheats than Sky when covering the Elite league, apparently Swindon will have 9 cameras at their new stadium, probably all to focus on one patch of tarmac in front of the main stand.
  6. Yeh ! An Elite league team turning up away from home with a weakened side. Happy days ! How Sad !
  7. The lack of sound and smell has definitely taken something away from the sport
  8. A team that was prepared to track Ward and Holder can't be too hard up ! Maybe Matt Ford feels uncomfortable in a competition where he doesn't call the shots !
  9. If you haven't got the money you can have all the grand plans / ideas you want, without someone providing the cash they stay ideas and don't get built .
  10. In defence of Chris harris his duel with Chris Holder in the rerun of the heat after he got run over in the play off final 2010 was a cracker
  11. Unfortunately the local council is unwilling to find a piece of land in the area, grant planning permission and put up the cash to build it as with Belle Vue .
  12. This is speedways other crutch, everyone else is struggling ! If you look at the top level of most sports in this country you will find most are thriving. Premier league football-say no more, top division rugby union-some teams are hiring Twickenham or Wembley to host league games in front of 60,000, Rugby league-there's 10,000 at Warrington tonight to watch a game live on TV,how does league speedway fare when live on TV, Boxing-selling out big venues including Wembley for big shows, Snooker-rapidly expanding the number of tournaments all over the world with more money in the game than ever,Darts-selling out every week to watch Premier league darts, every day of the World championship sold out,I could go on.Tell me another sport which does not have a sponsor for its top division which is live on TV ! Speedway is shrinking not expanding 20 years ago who would have thought Eastbourne,Cradley and Birmingham would be choosing to run speedway in an amateur league,if 1 more team drops out of the Elite league next year there is no league. You need 3 things to be a prosperous sport 1. a good TV deal 2. good sponsorship and 3. Plenty of punters paying to watch. Speedway has none of these. Personally without any of these things changing the only way is sadly further decline, not great news but I believe its the truth
  13. It seems fashionable these days for a failing business to simply blame the government for all its ills. The reason British speedway is a failing business is that the product is not good enough, often enough and is not good value for money. There is money around but people are just choosing not to spend it on watching British speedway.Went to Cheltenham races on Tuesday,,a record first day crowd of 63,000.Most sports are flourishing even in these times of recession, the reason speedway is not is nothing to do with the politics of the day !
  14. Do the Eagles have a travelling support these days ?
  15. We know nothings ever Armando's fault ! Silencers included !
  16. Apologies I'm corrected, there was more than one supplier but they were given a protected period where a new silencer could not be introduced.
  17. Interesting that as soon as the F.I.M has gone through the testing and approval of a new silencer for next season the speedway star seem to think this is the time to print 4 pages to put the boot in, and tell us how dangerous the previous model was..The dangers of the previous silencers were apparent in the first year of use but the F.I.M decided to sit on their hands and do nothing for a further 3 years on the grounds of product exclusivity to certain suppliers. As one of the biggest issues in the sport, affecting the safety of riders, the worlds leading speedway magazine should have been all over this story like a dog with a bone, but for whatever reason ( probably not wanting to upset Armando and his cronies at the F.I.M ) we were devoid of any hard hitting editorial. Gutless !
  18. Thinking of doing Daugavpils this year , does anybody know how many trains go between Riga and Daugavpils on a Saturday and where I could maybe find a timetable. Thanks in advance
  19. Can't berate a guy for doing something before he gets the job. Were all allowed a beer occasionally you know
  20. Apologies, just went on UK Martins post listing the line up. Although why he has clicked to like your post when it was his error in the first place I'm not sure !
  21. I think Chris Holder riding for both Poole and Piraterna is the 1st big sticking point for this competition and the reason why it will never be taken seriously outside of those clubs that are involved.
