Scott Nicholls is 2nd heat leader in British Speedway but reserve in Sweden. That means you have to pay 5 guys more than Scott Nicholls is earning to approach parity with Sweden. Some serious sponsors required,£25 pound at the turnstiles or financial suicide you decide !

Each to their own, never went to Wembley for speedway(was only 10 at the time of the last final)but have been to every GP at Cardiff. Cardiff is good but it can never recreate the tension of a one off world final.A years work in one meeting,no tailing off at the back not trying like KK in the GP this year.

Elite League 2016 - What Is Required?
New Science replied to 1 valve's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not crazy at all ,quite sensible. Swindon may / may not be involved depending on their stadium situation. Coventry should be o.k for the top division next year, year after anyone's guess. -
Read it again "the standard of play at the darts contributes to the atmosphere and the attendance" "the quality of racing at speedway contributes to no atmosphere and a poor attendance..You can put a rent a crowd at the speedway if you want,as you seem to be advocating but what happens if they don,t like what they see, they won't return.Years ago we had much better crowds but many of these died in the wool fans have voted with their feet and left. What makes you think new fans are going to be captivated if the current fans are turned off. .
-
I watch and attend many PDC darts events. The standard of play has never been better which contributes in large to a terrific atmosphere at £30 / £40 a time I also watch speedway at Monmore Green where the standard of racing is rarely anything but average contributing to absolutely no atmosphere at £18 a time Its not hard to work out why one sport is flourishing and expanding and one sport is floundering.and shrinking !

Throughout history speedway has traditionally been a match between 2 teams on a shale track,500 cc machines with no brakes .4 riders in a race over 4 laps all with different helmet colours .I'm not sure how much you can revolutionise / re-brand the sport from what it is.The promoters have brought in play offs, double point tactical rides to try to improve / spice up / invigorate the competition but it seems we are still at crisis point. The cricket analogy is a good one but that was to give the sport a short exciting night out experience, that's precisely what speedway should be providing in its present form at the moment. If people at present don't feel excited / entertained by watching 15 heats of speedway for 2 hours on a summer night then I don't think there's much you can do

Elite League 2016 - What Is Required?
New Science replied to 1 valve's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Before setting the rules the question must be will there be sufficient teams to make an Elite league ? -
Danish Gp In Horsens 08.08
New Science replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Might be my eyes but the bends look quite narrow. -
1 big league may be the only option. With the future of certain clubs in doubt its possible the Elite league may be down to 6 clubs next year,5 the year after. The Premier league could lose 3 clubs,is a 10 team Premier league viable. If any of this comes to fruition 2 leagues,Premier and National will be the only option. Think of the riders,if these guys are to be professionals they need 30 + meetings a year, not possible with riding in such leagues with small numbers.
-
Repeat : Premier league clubs are looking to lower costs No Premier league club will be willing to up their costs to compose a league some way between Elite and Premier. Its either Elite or Premier not Premier with a few of your favourite Elite league riders thrown in. As Matt k says anyone with a lone average of over 6.5 in the Elite league would be a casualty. Its hard buts that's where we are at ! As much as today's Speedway Star comment was on the state of British speedway got the impression that the future of Speedway Star may be running parallel with it.
-
While I agree the writing off of the Elite league is the logical solution,if the Premier League does become the top division it will be run along the same lines/standard that we have at present.Premier league clubs are looking to reduce costs, don't expect them to meet the Elite league half way.If we take Craig Cook as our yardstick aka the best rider in the current Premier league, then all number one riders will be of a similar standard or below. Unfortunately this effectively rules out most of the Elite leagues top 20 including Andersen,Harris and Scott who lets be honest are international riders not Premier league riders.

Not been the same since they took the noise and smell away circa 2011. The sport has been in a serious nosedive ever since -

Gorzow have been putting it out in the press about not renewing the contract with BSI long before the Warsaw fiasco.Seems they are not happy about the size of the staging fee and there will have to be a renegotiation if Gorzow are to remain on the circuit. Not sure there are many Polish circuits lining up to take there place thou. -
Despite all the superlatives being put across by the current promotion , it smacks of we need someone with more money than sense to come in and prop up what is a failing business.

BSI only went back to Malilla after sexy Gothenberg became untenable due to dwindling attendances, think they may be sourcing another Swedish track in a couple of years as Stockholm seems to be going the same way. -

At £40 a go what if people, particularly from the North of Britain decide to Knock an expensive weekend in Cardiff on the head.Cue 30,000 at Cardiff, then that GP will become not financially viable. The golden goose will be dead, -
Can see only 2 leagues existing in Britain next year Premier and National.Give it another 5 years may be down to one
-
Wolves are having there lowest crowds in the modern era.
-
For me were currently having our lowest crowds in the last 25 years. We must be seeing it differently.
-
Top 3 as it is (baring injury) Top 8 as it is (baring injury) Wild cards best case scenario Ward,Emil,Hampel,Kildermand. Wild cards More likely scenario Ward,Hampel + 2 Swedes

Swindon's New Stadium
New Science replied to remembertheracers's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The worry is that I read a quote that this year would be Swindon's last at the Abbey.Swindon can't afford an 8 year wait. With Lakeside and Coventry having issues with their stadiums its a bit worrying for the Elite League. -

See no mentions of Horsens on that list.Must be some finger crossing going on putting a temporary track in a football stadium in Denmark with no roof. -
